Silver was enjoying the quiet peace of the library after the excitement of the past couple weeks. He was comfortable and content surrounded by the scent of books and the stillness that was only occasionally broken by the rustle of pages or a low whisper.
Silver wasn't one of those whispering. He sat in a chair by the windows with a book in one hand, the pressure of his thumb holding it open as he read. He had his long legs stretched out on the floor in front of him and his book bag beside the chair, and he was entirely absorbed in reading.

Johnny slammed the door behind her, earning herself a very stern look from the librarian. Great! Now she's mad at me too! Johnny gritted her teeth, and stormed into the depths of the library, seeking to disappear from everyone. "You had no right!", she repeated the words that other boy had said in her mind... Ugh! She stamped her foot hard. It was so unfair. They completely misinterpreted everything she did and said. It was the worst first day ever!
She found a seemingly deserted isle and leaned against some books, trying to regain control. She breathed deeply and closed her eyes. She just knew it was a horrible idea transferring. She just knew it. But her dads just kept insisting! If only she had stayed.... With all her old friends....She imagined what she would be doing now if she was still there; probably enjoying a good laugh with them; feeling confident and happy. But instead she was hiding in a library, on the verge of tears, feeling like everyone outside that door were complete strangers and out to get her.

That slamming door had jolted Silver from the story he'd been so absorbed in, and his head turned immediately toward the source of it. He wasn't in full view of the doors though, and so he didn't know for sure what the disturbance was until he heard an obviously displeased female voice. Yes, it was quiet, but Silver had rather better hearing than most, and so when the voice settled not far off, he had no trouble figuring which direction it came from.
If the voice had faded quicker, Silver would have gone back to his book. As it stood, there was an apparently very angry girl very close. He debated for some moments, telling himself that it was none of his business, then telling himself that he couldn't very well keep reading if he kept sitting there wondering. Finally, he tucked his book back into his book bag and slung the strap over his shoulder, then turned around the one corner it took before he saw her.
If her voice hadn't been enough, seeing her was. She was obviously frustrated, upset, but she looked... she looked like she was trying not to cry. Silver glanced helplessly back over his shoulder, but there was no one else near. He really had no idea how to deal with tears, but he couldn't even pretend to be heartless enough to walk away.
"Are you... okay?" Silver asked tentatively. He didn't want to disturb her, but if he could help, he'd face tears to try.

she fanned her face with her hands furiously, trying to prevent the tears from appearing, when someone spoke. She looked around and saw a boy standing right next to her. Was the isle really deserted, or was she too distraught to notice? cause she did not hear him approach. "I'm fine" She lied, embarrassed someone had seen her be so vulnerable. and forced a small smile on her face. "It's nothing..." she mumbled.

Silver didn't believe her, and so he was silent a moment, unsure whether he should just take her word for it and leave. Then he decided to ask anyway. "Are you sure?" He wouldn't drag whatever it was out of her. It wasn't any of his business, but she still looked upset and he'd already come over here, so he'd give her the opportunity to talk.

She smiled when he asked her the second time. For a minute there, when she was almost crying, and feeling utterly miserable, and maybe even a little bit dramatic she thought that no one would ever be nice to her again. So the fact that he didn't flinch at the mere sight of her made her feel warm inside "well, maybe there was something that bothered me. But I'm okay now"
She took a closer look at him, and saw that he was holding books in his arms, "Oh," she looked at the books again, this time significantly, to indicate that whatever she was about to say next was related to them "I'm sorry, i hope i wasn't disturbing you" she thought back to the last couple of minutes, trying to remember if she was making much noise, but it was hard to remember.

Silver glanced down at his book bag, then back up to the girl, shaking his head. "No, it's fine. I wasn't doing homework or anything." No, he'd just been reading for the joy of reading, something he did often. And it was even better now that he wasn't avoiding anyone and could stay in the library. Not that he didn't love the forest, but every once in a while a change was good. "If there's anything I can do..." Silver began, tentatively offering an ear or even some help.
