Vannah arrived at Hogwarts right after break. It had been a few months since she's seen the inside of the large castle. She had no regrets about leaving in the first place, not letting anyone know. Maybe she didn't leave on the best of terms, but it was worth it. In those few months so much has happened in her favor. Her little boy, after a few battles that ended up involving the ministry itself, was in her care and now staying with her parents. He grew up so quickly.
Vannah pulled her gloves off and surveyed the area around her. Hogwarts looked almost abandoned. Apparently Vannah was the first to arrive from a Christmas break, or so it seemed. She placed her bare hand on the staircase next to her. The wood was cool and familiar. As much as Vannah longed to leave months ago, she realized that she missed it while she was gone.
Vannah barely heard the footsteps until it was to late. They startled her and she may have jumped slightly before turning around to see...

Silver almost ran into the girl as he headed from the Great Hall toward the nearest staircase. He stopped just short of actual physical contact, and for that he was endlessly grateful. She was stunningly beautiful and he knew he'd just have frozen up or said something stupid.
As it was, he managed to hold onto the leather-bound journal in his hand, managed not to drop the speckled quill that peeked up from between the pages, and even managed not to topple at his sudden stop. His mossy green eyes were bright with surprise at the fact, and somehow he managed not to stumble over a coupld words. "Excuse me," he murmured.

"Watch it!" Vannah snapped automatically. She didn't recognize the voice nor the face. "You better watch where you're going." She repeated to make herself clear. Vannah studied the face of the boy in front of her, but there was still no familiarity. "I didn't know they let house elves wander around now." She taunted. It was good to be back. "You leave for a few months and suddenly everything's different." She muttered just loud enough for him to here.

Silver might have been offended by the girl's attempted insult if it wasn't so ridiculous. Rather, he arched an eyebrow as he looked down at her from his height of nearly 6'1". "I was watching where I was going, or I would have run into you," he said, slowly and softly. He easily kept himself from implying that she, being small and high-voiced would pass for a house-elf much better than he did, but he'd been at Hogwarts long enough now that he wasn't particularly afraid of its residents anymore. And the girl must have been gone more than a few months because he'd been here since mid-May of last term. He was sure he'd remember a face like that, and even more, the waspish tone of her voice.

Vannah surveyed the space between them. She was surprised he hadn't taken a step back yet. She cleared her throat. "Well are you going to move out of my way?" She asked impatiently. "Or shall I move you myself?" Her voice was lowered now as she fingered her wand that, maybe up until this point, hadn't been used much in her time gone.

If Silver had seen the girl reaching for her wand, he would have stepped back immediately, but as it was, he'd been momentarily focused on her self-assured pout. Something about her pricked at his instincts, but he couldn't seem to see her as anything less than an oddity. A hundred thoughts vied for his attention at her words. He considered pointing out that the problem would be easily solved no matter which of them stepped aside, but he could almost see his father's disapproving gaze. It took him a noticeable amount of time, but eventually Silver did move. "Is that better?" he asked.
