Mano glanced at the watch on his wrist and stared at the door again. It felt like he had been waiting for hours to meet the girl that was his reason for being there instead of comfortable in his old house. He was dressed comfortably, yet in a way that gave off his upper class blood. His light, fitted clothes were at odds with the stormy gray of his eyes. He wanted the girl to get there so that they could get everything over with so that Carolynn could move in and he could finally get settled.

Holly stood outside the door to her fiancee's house. Her dark brown hair was pulled up in a bun, and her chocolate eyes were swimming nervously. She wore a comfortable loose skirt, with a yellow blouse. Her father had given her the address and there she was. Lifting up her hand, she issued a timid knock on the door.

Mano's eyes shot up and he stood, walking across his fine wood floor toward the door that led outside. His apartment was settled behind the cafe and above, giving enough room for the living room, kitchen, and two bedrooms, and so had a door that opened to a wider side alley. He ran a hand through his hair and then reached for the door. His eyes showed nothing when he saw the girl behind the heavy door. He looked her over absently and then stood to the side, "Please, come in."

Holly nodded and entered the apartment aware of his authority and wealth. Although the entrance was relatively small compared to hers, it was still quite grand. Her heels clicked across the floor providing noise to disturb the awkward silence.

"My apologies that we couldn't meet in my family home," Mano said, closing the door behind her and leading her into the living room. He gestured toward the creme couch for her to sit and then took his own place beside the couch in a plush armchair. "I thought it would be too much of a trip for someone coming from the school, and I wanted a change of scenery anyway."

"Thank you," Holly murmured. This encounter was not what she expected. If he was so carefree about the wedding maybe she could pull it off. Leave and be free to choose her own husbund... "My father did not inform me of your name. I am Holly and you?"

"Mano Berwyn," Mano answered, raising an eyebrow at the knowledge she didn't know his name. Usually that was one of the first things told. He pushed the thought away to be examined later. He let his eyes trail over her more thoroughly, hovering and wishing she hadn't worn such loose clothes. She wasn't what he usually went for, but he kept the disapproval from his eyes and face. There was always a chance. "How was your trip?"

"Quick and easy. The school is only a minutes walk from here," Holly replied lips pursed. She pushed her hair back and fidgeted uncomfortable with his eyes watching her. Hektor seemed to be right. An arranged marriage would leave her miserable.

That made Mano bring his eyes to hers in confusion. "You do attend Hogwarts, don't you? That school is quite a way from Diagon Alley," he pointed out. He didn't care to be with a liar, or to deal with them, should she go somewhere else and it have been her parents that had lied. His eyes turned cool as he watched her for an answer.

Holly waved her hand in dismissal. "Ah, I was thinking of Hogsmeade. I apologize. I took the bus from Hogsmeade to here," Holly blushed realizing her error. She put her hands neatly folded in her lap and sighed mentally. So far this confrontation was not going as planned.

Mano watched Holly for a few silent seconds before crossing his legs. "So, you are a fourth year, and there are two years before we can marry, am I right?" he asked, laying his arms on the arms of the chair. He didn't like how the meeting was going, but he would hold back any decision until he had met her more than one time.

"Yes that is what I believe," Holly replied leaning against her seat. She was getting a little more comfortable with her surroundings and was attempting to act more natural. Reaching up, she pulled her hair down letting the long layers cascade across her shoulders. She smiled grateful she did not feel a huge bump of hair on her skull anymore.

Mano watched the transformation from uptight youth to seductive young woman with interest, wondering absently why she hadn't let her hair down to begin with. "You have a wonderful smile," he observed. He realized that she was young, and didn't plan on doing anything until she was seventeen, or at least much closer than she was at the moment, but that didn't mean he couldn't give a compliment.

"Thank you, that is very sweet," Holly mused looking around the room thoughtfully. She wondered if he had any games or anything to entertain herself. Sitting awkwardly and exchanging words was not the best way to learn about someone.

Mano inclined his head and then sat, watching her. He had no thoughts that she would want something else, the only thing he thought that would have helped would have been a dance. "Do you do well in school?" he asked, thinking back to how absentminded she had seemed, still seemed. Perhaps she wasn't what she seemed.
