"Oh, definitely," Brindle said, resting her arms on the table to lean forward a bit. "But sometimes it takes a disaster to get things done, to learn something you wouldn't have learned otherwise."
Even as she said it, she realized what a strange thought that was. It had taken a disaster to get her and Markise to Hogwarts, a disaster brought on by Markise's impulsive decision to come out with only Brindle to stand beside him. That disaster had led to so many good things. It had changed both their lives, and now Brindle was stronger than she'd ever been.

Dei considered her words for a few moments, then had to nod his agreement. "Okay, I can see the reasoning in that. That's quite true, actually," he thoughtfully said, his voice unconsciously becoming quieter as he thought about her words.
He was silent as he continued to think. Her words were very true, actually. It was because of that disaster that his sister was the only one that he could completely trust... for the moment. Brindle definitely had potential....

Yes, it was true, but somehow Brindle had expected Dei to argue it. That thoughtful look on his face, though... maybe logic wasn't so bad if it meant someone could actually stop and see things from another point of view.
Brindle watched Dei lose himself in thought for a minute or so, then interrupted with, "Knut for your thoughts?"

He lost the glazed look of thought in his eyes at the sound of her voice as he jumped slightly. "Oh, sorry. I was just remembering something. It's not important. Well, are you ready to go somewhere else now?"
Dei said all of that very quickly, then added, "And Rene will find us no matter where we go, so don't worry about her."
He stood up and stretched, emphasizing his height and accidentally raising the shirt he was wearing, which showed off a quite nicely toned stomach.

Brindle could not believe herself when her gaze somehow flickered down to his stomach and paused. She took a quick breath and looked away, dipping her head a bit so that her hair swung down into her face. She was definitely blushing this time. It hadn't helped at all that the flash of his abdomen had been precisely head height.
When she'd tackled herself back into control, Brindle stood as well, tugging lightly at her own shirt, which had a tendency to ride up to her waist. Not that she thought she was covering anything, since she preferred low-rise pants, but it was an unconscious motion.
"Yeah, I'm ready," Brindle said. One last sip of pumpkin juice, and she looked back up at Deimos. "Where do you want to go?" Brindle didn't have anything in particular in mind.

Deimos caught the flash of smooth stomach and restrained himself from blushing and thinking impure thoughts. He was rather surprised that he was able to control himself so well.
He creased his brows and admitted, "No, I hadn't actually. How about you pick this time where we go to?"
He had really only just been trying to stop the memories that had come back, so he didn't really have an idea of where to go.

Brindle shrugged lightly. "I love the lake, but I don't think studying would do much good out there." Not with the distraction of the breeze and the falling leaves. She could just imagine the chaos that would ensue if someone had a ten-inch scroll due and the wind took it off.
"If we're not going to be doing wand work, the library would probably be fine. It's quiet, at least." She could imagine getting bored there, though. "Or we could just hang out in the entrance hall or something." She wasn't really sure what kinds of places people usually studied in. She tended to do it on her bed or in class, before the instructor arrived.

"Well..." Dei considered her suggestions, "Do you need help with the wandwork or just a general studying?"
He rather hoped that it was the wandwork so that he could be moving around instead of stuck in the library. That would have to be his sister's area of expertise.

"The wandwork," Brindle admitted. "I know charms in theory, but I can't seem to make most of it work." And most of the others she'd known hadn't, either. In fact, the only people she could say for sure who knew how to use their wand outside potions and transfiguration were the guys who'd attacked Markise, and nobody even knew who they were.
"So it sounds like the entrance hall," Brindle said. "You sure you can tutor your sister there?" And me, she added silently. It was a place that was highly conducive to people-watching, but she wasn't so sure it would work for studying textbooks or whatever Dei and Rene did.

Deimos nodded. ""That'll be fine. She has this really weird ability to just tune things out if she needs to."
He then added with a rogue grin, "Besides, I can always help her later in the common room. You shall be my primary concern right now."
Eirene would have to deal with it. And she would. He was certain that she would be quite happy that he was finding someone that he could possibly trust after so long.
