"Because you have such good taste," Markise said, "in men at least. Well, for a straight guy." Straight guy my ass, he thought, lips curving in private amusement. Markise thought about the tattoo anyway. What should he get? "I was thinking a star or something, not one of those little blacked-in things, but something worth actually looking at. Things like that never go out of style." As much as he'd wanted Ariel's input, he wouldn't have wanted to date himself with something that would be out in a month.

Ariel nodded, though part of him wished that Markise would stop with the straight guy remarks. "That would look good," he said, something simple that was in Markise's character. He really couldn't see him doing much complicated, and even if he did, Ariel didn't see it being very over the top. He looked down at his own tattoo-darkened arm.

"When can I get it?" he asked, continuing the motions of his fingers against that spot low on Ariel's hip. He wondered briefly if he should get Dare to design something for him, so it'd be even more meaningful, but he could see Dare asking what it was for and refusing. Then he'd have Dare on his back, and possibly Brindle, if she caught wind of it. "I guess we could go...look at books or something, right?" Yes, we. Markise still wasn't doing that alone.

Ariel shrugged, "Whenever we can go to London." Which wasn't the most convenient of places, considering he couldn't apparate and didn't have floo powder. "And he's got plenty of books if you wanted to look there." He couldn't see being able to go back until Christmas, anyway, which was still quite a time away. Not that he had even planned on going to see his brother then.

"I could do that," Markise said, looking down the line of Ariel's body down to where his fingers slowly moved. "You'll hold my hand, right?" he asked, entirely serious. It hurt to begin with, and if that spot hurt worse, then he wasn't doing it alone, he'd need some kind of contact. But...Markise hardly paused before drawing his eyes up to Ariel's. There was no way they could just walk in together. Even if they were out, which they definitely weren't, this was Ariel's brother, the bastard who'd zapped him for looking at a magazine. "I could dress up or something," he said, dropping his gaze again. If Ariel didn't like the idea, God, Markise hoped he thought he was kidding. "I know I can pass."

Ariel raised an eyebrow at that, at all of what Markise had said. What in the world made him think either thing was a good idea. With how long Maverick had been doing tattoos, Ariel didn't think that dressing up would fool him for very long, not when he knew anatomy as well as a mediwizard in a hospital. And there was no way he was going to hold hands with a guy in front of his brother. "You'd have a better chance just walking in there."

"I can't go alone!" Markise exclaimed, looking back up at Ariel with worried eyes. "It hurts, and I'm not good with pain." Ariel had seen that firsthand, when Markise had pulled that muscle. And then...Markise blinked, dragging himself back to the present. "I don't have anyone else to go with me, there's got to be something." He couldn't see how, though.

"I never said I wouldn't go with you," Ariel said, looking down at Markise with a raised eyebrow. "Just so long as you don't..." he paused, trying to figure out how to put it. "Flame." At least not as badly as he normally did. Even if Maverick figured out Markise was gay, he wouldn't refuse to serve him, but would definitely give Ariel all kinds of trouble over having a gay friend.

Markise closed his mouth sharply, frowning for a moment before he even tried to speak. "I can act straight," he snapped. "I've been doing it for years, you're just fun to play with." He pulled his hand away from that teasing spot on Ariel's hip and rested it against his waist instead. "But when it hurts I don't know if I'll be able to keep it up, and he'll know. Plus, it'll ruin it if I need you to hold my hand." There was no question about that.

"Well unless you want to take a polyjuice potion or go through a hell of a lot of complicated transfiguration, you have to deal with it." Ariel's voice was a little harsher than he had intended it to be, but he had gotten rather used to that light motion against his skin, and the sudden absence of it aggravated him. He couldn't believe how snippy Markise could be, when Ariel was just speaking the truth.

Markise pouted again. He didn't particularly like either option. "It'd just be for a while, right?" he asked Ariel, trying to talk himself into one of them. "It might work, you know? I mean, we'd be going out, but no one would know. Cheap thrill, right?" Until the technical issues hit him. Markise's nose wrinkled. "That'd be kindof gross, actually." Markise didn't want anything to do with breasts.

Ariel wrinkled his nose, as well, the idea of going around saying a Markise in a female body was his girlfriend wasn't very appealing. "Do you want the tattoo?" he asked finally, raising an eyebrow, his voice a little aggravated. If he wanted the tattoo, while being underage, and even possibly with a bit of a discount if Maverick liked him, then Markise would have to suck it up and go with it.

Markise looked back up at Ariel and nodded. "I'll do it," he said. "But we're going to need someone besides Brindle, because I'm not doing that." Markise's hand shifted against Ariel again, hoping to soothe his obvious aggravation. "I'll make it up to you when it's all over," he promised. He couldn't believe he was more than just considering this, he was actually making plans to do it. He was never telling anyone.

Ariel thought that Markise would have a lot of work to do if Markise planned on making it up to him, if the potion wore off too soon, or if they ran out before they had the chance to leave, Maverick would know. And there were plenty of girls in the school other than Markise's little sister that they could swipe a few hairs from. "You had better, because if he finds out it won't be pretty."

Markise nodded again, his hand heading down for that spot on Ariel's hip and stroked it lightly. "I can think of a few things," he said, lowering his voice with the insinuation. Markise's leg shifted against Ariel, taking the initiative if it would make him happy. "He won't find out," he promised. "I'll be really good." Markise trailed kisses against Ariel's jaw.
