Dare started on breakfast right away, not giving himself time to turn back to Michael. He glanced at Michael as he got bacon and sausage cooking in one pan, glanced at him as he got biscuits into the oven, but he didn't let himself stop. If he did, he was nearly sure he'd end up kissing Michael again and saying to hell with breakfast.

Michael stayed out of the way, leaning against a counter and trying not to distract Dare, something that was much easier to do once the kitchen started smelling like food. He couldn't quite figure out how in the world Dare knew how to do everything that he was doing, but he wasn't going to try to figure things out this time, maybe later in the day he would.

"How do you like your eggs?" Dare asked, bringing some over to the counter beside the stove. "I can fry and scramble, but I'm not so great at like, poaching or hard-boiling." He wasn't even sure what a poached egg was, actually. Dare paused to flip the bacon, then looked over at Michael, his gaze flickering down that shirt and those shorts. When he'd finished flipping, he tugged his sleep pants back up on his hips, then looked at Michael expectantly.

Michael opened his lips to answer but was momentarily distracted by the motion of that fabric on Dare's hips, knowing the likelihood that they were going to stay up when Dare pulled at them. "Um, scrambled," he said, finally bringing his eyes up to Dare's, though they moved slowly, constantly caught by something else on Dare's exposed torso. He really didn't care how his eggs were cooked, he usually just ate them how they came, but scrambled was the one that stuck in his head.

Dare's eyes were a lightly hazed glitter from the way Michael was looking at him. His lips curved slightly, and he had a strong urge to cross to the counter Michael was leaning against and pin him to it with the weight of his body. When Dare caught himself, he looked sharply away, then took a long, deep breath before moving again, his sleep pants slipping right back down. He made himself concentrate on the eggs, something he found easy to screw up, and told himself he could wait. They had all day. It could wait.

Michael put his hands on the edge of the counter and curled his fingers around it, giving him something substantial to hold on to to keep him from going over to Dare himself. It was hard, though, they had had so little time during the week, especially when compared to what they had been used to. All he wanted to do was lay down with Dare like they had been that morning and kiss him, even if his stomach did say otherwise.

Dare made quick work of the eggs then gathed plates and utensils to serve heaping helpings of everything. When the plates were piled and the drinks were poured, Dare took them over to the small table and chairs set in the corner. Normally he and Michael ate on the couch, but all things considered, Dare thought that separate chairs might be useful for ensuring that they actually finished their meals. "Brunch is served," Dare announced, sliding into one of the seats.

"You know, I feel bad about not being able to help," Michael said, sitting down and settling everything in front of him. "But who am I to try to steal your glory by learning?" His eyes sparkled to give away the tease as he set his fork to the plate. In all honesty, Dare was a good cook, and Michael had the distinct feeling that he would only ruin a good thing if he tried to help, however good his intentions were.

Dare's lips curved as he looked up at Michael from a forkful of fluffy egg. "You'll learn," he assured Michael. It hadn't even occurred to Dare to use breakfast as another lesson, though thinking about it now, it was probably a good thing. He could see himself standing behind Michael, arms loose around him as he guided Michael's hand to gently roll the sausages over... Dare blinked and took a large bite. Cooking was not supposed to be a suggestive activity.

Michael shrugged absently and tried to focus on the food on his plate. It was a much safer place to look than up at Dare, who, now that the food was there and he had already begun eating, looked rather appetizing himself. Michael grinned at himself with that and took a large bite of sausage to keep himself from saying anything. There would be plenty of time later, they had the whole weekend. It was hard to convince himself of that, though, when he had gotten so used to making the most of every moment of time with Dare during the week.

Dare was trying not to look at Michael too much either, and having just as difficult a time with it. Eventually he gave up and let himself watch unabashedly, enjoying every motion of Michael's mouth. Why in the world hadn't he been watching from the beginning? Dare ate mostly automatically after that, and when he had finished, he wasted no time in standing and bringing his plate and cup to the sink. "I'm going to brush my teeth," he announced.

Michael watched Dare and then nodded as he finished off his last bite and stood to put his own things in the sink, then set to cleaning them with the spells he had learned. He couldn't cook, but he could at least help with something. "I will in a minute," he said, glancing up at Dare and then quickly down again. Focus on what you're doing, he told himself.
