Epic Apology (Markise/Dare/Michael)

Michael nodded, thinking back over the conversation as his hand pulled away from Dare's hand to move down his side and join the other just under the shirt at his back. "What do you think about him and that Logan guy?" he asked, knowing it was more than likely obvious that he hoped they ended up together. As for Markise himself, Michael didn't know if he would enjoy being with him one on one, but with Dare there, he could handle it.

Dare had to think on Michael's question for a bit. "I don't really know. I've only met Logan that once. We talked about what idiots the other Gryffindors were, and he got real touchy when he thought I'd implied he was gay, but I didn't get a bad vibe off him or anything." Dare paused before focusing on Michael's face and going on.

"Markise had this boyfriend Kwami, he was a guy who kind of hung out at the outskirts of our group, but he was a real Quidditch buff. Really self-centered, but I don't think Markise even cared, because he was pretty Kwami-centered for a while there, too. I'm not sure what went on between them--I didn't even know they were together until after they'd broken up the first time, but I think Kwami was pretty controlling, and I worry about him."

Michael watched Dare closely, trying to figure out if he hoped Logan and Markise got together, but he couldn't tell, so gave up trying to figure it out and focused on what he had said. "Do you think he would get back in a relationship like that?" he asked, wondering faintly at how easily he was participating in a conversation about another guy's possible and past boyfriend.

Dare grimaced. "Yes," he said. "He got back with Kwami like three months after they broke up the first time. It was after that, since I knew then, that I started watching what I could. It...wasn't pretty." Kwami had been one of those people who projected just the right amount of charm, but there had been something about him that Dare just hadn't liked. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts from the past. "I don't know about this Logan guy, though. I guess there's nothing to do but wait and see.

Michael surely hoped that, should Markise and Logan end up together, they didn't end up in a relationship like with that Kwami person. He didn't know how someone could want to be in a relationship with someone like that, there was a difference between letting Dare be in control and being controlled, at least the way Michael was understanding Kwami had Markise. "If Logan's like that and they end up together, we'll have to fix it." Michael wouldn't let Markise be in that kind of relationship, even if Markise wasn't his favorite person in the world.

Dare's lips curved again, and he lowered his head to nuzzle Michael, then give him a soft kiss. "I love you," he murmured. Dare knew how hard Michael was working to get along with Markise after what had happened in that corridor, and now Michael was being protective for him. "I'll keep an eye on Markise and Logan," Dare said, then placed another kiss on Michael's jaw. "When I'm not otherwise occupied," he added, then parted his lips against that spot on Michael's neck.

Michael sighed softly and his eyes fell closed. It only made sense to him to want to help Markise, someone who meant so much to Dare was worth it in Michael's eyes. "I love you," he sighed, spreading his hands out against Dare's back and tilting his head to nuzzle against his neck. He wondered how anyone could settle for any relationship when he knew that this was possible.
