Ariana entered an empty compartment. Sitting down, she looked out of the window. She remembered reading the letter with her parents and the joy in her parents' eyes. They had a daughter who could do magic, and that wasn't what normal people could do. Her sister, Gladys might say she was abnormal, but she was proud about it. Proud about being abnormal. She knew her sister was just simply jealous. Gladys was 13 years old, and she didn't receive any letter, informing her that she had a place at Hogwarts. She tried not to mention Hogwarts in front of Gladys at dinner, but her parents babbled on and on. She couldn't help but feel sorry for her, but she was such a sour grape, staring and insulting her all summer.
When she was at Platform 9 3/4, she felt relieved. The nicknames "Freak", "Hairy armpits", "No brain idiot", etc. that Gladys called her. She doesn’t have to listen to her nonsense anymore. She wasn't planning to go back home at Christmas, though she missed her parents terribly. Well, maybe if Gladys was going to stay at her friend's house.
"Excuse me, dear. Would you like something?" A kind voice interrupted her thoughts.
Ariana looked up. "No, thank you," she answered politely.
