Noelle rushed out of her latest class without looking at any familiar landmarks to see where she was going. Soon enough she was lost...sort of. If she actually tried to find her way back, she probably could've, but she decided to keep on walking. As she walked farther down the hall the lighting got lower until it was merely a dim glow.
Noelle leaned against the wall and took a breath. Finally a place to take a breath. The only thing she thought about since she got to Hogwarts was getting out of Hogwarts. That and her encounter with Michael. That kid needed some guidance and Noelle needed something to pass her time..how perfect. She had a plan started and stored in the back of her mind.
Noelle held a pen in her hand that she accidentally dropped. The pen rolled about three feet away from her. Just as she went to pick it up she heard the footsteps of another person. Who could have possibly found the same abandoned corridor as her? Was there any room to breathe at this school. Noelle picked up her pen and as soon as her fingers touched it, she heard the footsteps stop a few feet away from her....

Dare only knew the shortcut toward the dungeons because of Michael. Of course, there was no reason he'd be in the dungeons if it wasn't for Michael, so it worked out. He was surprised to see a girl in the corridor, bent over a pen. He wasn't at all surprised he didn't know her, for some reason the girls hadn't flocked to him the way they had to Silver, of all people, but she looked lost, so he stopped, one hand rising briefly to push at his fringe.
His silver quill trailed out of his back pocket, and he had a sketchbook under one arm and a bookbag slung over his shoulder. He was wearing his usual black fitted jeans, a chunky studded belt, and a black fitted tee with a silver design on the chest, and his nails were an unabashed shade of purple. "Can I help you find anything?" he asked the girl.

Noelle grabbed her pen off the floor and stood up. The voice didn't surprise her, in face if he hadn't spoke she would of thought it was very rude and then might have used her wand to teach him a lesson. She brushed a few strands of hair that fell into her face out of the way. It took her a moment to realize why the face seemed familiar. Once she did it was almost impossible not to grin from delight. How perfect. Noelle j=hid her grin with a polite smile. "Uhh I just umm got a little bit lost. I was on my way to.." Noelle said. Where was she headed? She hadn't really thought about it when she left class. "...the library." She said. That was a good place, she had a lot of work to catch up on.
Noelle dropped her pen into her bag so she wouldn't drop it again. "I'm new here. Noelle Lange." She introduced sweetly. It was her second week at Hogwarts and she already felt like she was suffocating. It was like a prison, but she showed no signs of disgust towards the school or any recognition to Dare. Keep your friends close, your enemies closer. Dare wasn't exactly an enemy but he was close enough to Michael to come in handy.

Something about the girl triggered warning signals in Dare. He gave her a brief assessing look, capturing details in a moment that most would miss. Maybe it was the light in her eyes, maybe just his imagination, but Dare was naturally suspicious and not normally sociable. Still, she hadn't done anything, so he set his reservations aside until he had more information.
"I'm Alasdair Blackwood," he said, that same suspicion keeping him from giving her his nickname. Or maybe it was residual tension from the unexpected announcement in the last Daily Prophet. "I know where the library is," he said, offering subtly in the hopes that she'd brush him off or just ask him to point her in the right direction. He was going to meet Michael; he didn't feel like taking a detour to chauffeur some girl he didn't know.

Noelle's head shot up as hope flickered across her face. "Do you mind helping me get to it? It's just that I'm horrible with directions and I'd really hate to waste time I could be doing work on wandering the halls and getting even more lost...." Noelle asked playing with the emerald ring on her right hand nervously. It would buy her more time to evaluate Alasdair. The more information she had the better, even if it was just observations since he seemingly doesn't talk much about himself.

Dammit, Dare thought, mentally heaving a put-upon sigh. Figures. "Sure, I'll show you," he said, lips curving into a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, though they were mostly shielded behind the violet, blue, and green strands of his fringe. He'd just take her up the shortest way he knew, drop her off at the doors, and be on his way. Michael would understand. Dare wasn't much for pointless conversation, so he didn't bother trying to make small talk, but turned slightly and gestured back the way he'd been coming from.

Noelle smiled and ignored the insincerity carved into his face. "Thank you." She said tilting her head to the side a little bit. She wouldn't let the silence remain very long. "So have you been at Hogwarts for a while?" She asked knowing that few students actually begin at Hogwarts and end at Hogwarts. There are always transfers in and out. She was a professional at making annoying small talk. With enough small talk she would eventually find out enough information.

Dare mentally sighed again, turning to head down the corridor, one brief nod of his head indicating that Noelle should follow him. "About four months," he replied. Somehow, he didn't think that was going to be enough, so he forced himself to say something else. "It's not a bad place. A little melodramatic now and then, but we deal." The drama never seemed to end for more than a week, but Dare didn't feel like scaring the girl off. Didn't feel like interesting her too much, either.

"Drama." Noelle sighed. "There's always drama." She shook her head slightly and continued following his steps. The drama couldn't be any worse than it was at an all girls school she first attended, could it? "So, what house and year are you in?" She asked casually. She remembered vaguely from the article the anwer to both of the questions, and his House crest was barely visible from the corner of her eyes.

Dare glanced down at the girl--she was tall, but still well under his own 6'1". "Gryffindor, 6th year," he answered. "What about you?" Turnabout was fair play, after all. If they were going to talk, he may as well be entertained rather than being a sounding board. Dare tucked one thumb into the front pocket of his snug-fitting jeans, pausing in his steps a moment as he looked for the tapestry with the narrow staircase behind it. He found it quickly and pushed it aside, stepping in and holding it for Noelle.

Noelle stepped through the opening and paused waiting for him to take the lead again. "Sixth year Slytherin." She said beaming. "I don't really understand what the competition between each house is. I nearly walked into a cat fight between a Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw the other day over who should've gotten the House Points in Divination." Noelle said with a little laugh. "Doesn't make any sense."

Dare shrugged, his eyes pausing for one long moment on Noelle's face. She seemed so nice...he still didn't trust her, though. She had to be in Slytherin for a reason, and though Dare knew better than to stereotype, he also knew better than to judge a book by its cover. Still, the conversation was easy enough, and he had an opinion on it. "I think people just like the competition," he suggested. Dare let the tapestry fall back into place and headed up the narrow staircase, the fronds of his silver quill trailing behind him from the pocket of his jeans. "My best friend's a Slytherin, so the rivalry doesn't count for much. I know an ex-Gryffindor who should've been a Slytherin, so the sorting doesn't count for much, either."

"Oh.." Noelle said as she tried to make sense of it. "That...makes no sense whatsoever." She said slowly with a little laugh. If the sorting didn't count, or sort correctly, why did they still do it? "Where did you go to school before you came to Hogwarts?" She asked curiously. For her, the list was long and each school with a different story.

"SWIM," Dare answered, then went on to explain. "SouthWest Institute of Magic in Southern California, U.S.A." It had been a good school, and he'd been comfortable there, but after just a few months at Hogwarts, he didn't know how he'd made it without constantly having something to do, without the near-constant drama that was strangely as exciting as it was exhausting. "What about you?" Dare asked. Not that he was more than mildly interested, but he didn't feel like talking about himself for the next fifteen minutes.

"Hmm, let's see..." Noelle said. "I was home schooled for about a month before my mom accidentally freed the house elf. Then she stuck me in Beauxbatons in France. When that didn't work out I was headed over to America to the Salem Academy for Young Witches. After that I went to Brazil's Institute of Trances, Charms, Hexes and more! Another one in Ireland, then over to Russia, and finally I came to Hogwarts." She said shrugging. Some of the schools she went to were a joke, one of them was even shut down by the Ministry. "Hopefully I'm here to stay."
