Cleo looked up at Dare as he spoke, wiping the tears from her eyes. She nodded slightly, silently telling Dare that she would care for Adara if they did go. She drew a breath, she would have to tell them. "I met someone there, a woman. I don't know who she was and I only exchanged a few words." she said softly, she had refrained from saying anything earlier as Adara had needed her and who knew what she would do if she thought that someone else was around Emilian's place.

Adara hardly heard Cleo's words, as lost as she was. She had laid the pieces of Emilina's wand in her lap, and was running her fingers absently against the bristles of his brush, watching them give, then move back into place. Her dream world wouldn't come for her, and so she got as close to it as she could, not speaking, not thinking, only existing, even if she could not shut out the room and the lingering threat of thought.

Michael only barely heard Dare, but when he thought about it he was able to sort through the pieces of words he had caught to figure out what Dare he said. He thought for a minute then nodded, forcing himself to pull his head up from Dare's neck to look at him with dazed, pained eyes. "Thank you," he said, then glanced over at Cleo, but didn't think too much on whatever woman was there, it wouldn't be a problem, and all the people working for Snow were men, as far as he knew.

Dare wondered if Michael wanted to go, or if he was thanking him for the offer, but decided not to push. Michael needed time, and Dare would give him whatever he needed in that time. He heard Cleo, but couldn't make any sense of why anyone would be in a burned building, unless they were picking up souvenirs, like Cleo had. It was a disturbing thought.

"I thought you should be warned if you go" Cleo said, looking away from Dare. She realised she had been rude earlier, but did not know how to bridge the gap and apologise after her news. She turned her attention back to Adara and watched her sorrowfully.

Adara gave no sign that she heard any of what was happening in the room. Her gaze remained on the bristles of Emilian's brush as her fingers stroked against them, as though somehow she might feel him through them. She did not want to come to terms with anything, did not want to think about them, and so she embraced that feeling of numbness.

Michael took a breath and looked down at Adara, though he didn't pull away from Dare, needing what comfort he could take. He wanted to help her, but he didn't think there was anything he could do for her. He promised himself that he would find her when they came back, or the next day, and talk to her. "Let's go," he said softly, loosening his arms reluctantly, but he wanted to go.

Cleo nodded, unable to form words. She watched the boys leave then flopped back so she was stretched out on the floor, it instantly softened for her, cusioning her body. She didn't know what could ease Adara's pain so she just waited, she knew that right now it was enough to just be there.

Adara was in too much shock to pull herself out of it. She wanted nothing more than to disappear, to simply stop existing, and so there was nothing in her mind but the dull buzz of her blood and the sensation of the brush's bristles against her fingertips. Perhaps part of her still felt Cleo, but not enough to truly acknowledge her. Adara leaned against the couch beside her and closed her eyes, fingers still moving against the brush, and wished that she might sleep and refuse to wake, and dream of Emilian.

Cleo looked over to the younger girl and the sight that greeted her brought tears to her eyes. How could she have agreed to pulling Adara away from Emilian? "I'm sorry that I had to bring you such news" she began softly. "But I will always be here for you." She had no idea whether Adara would take in what she said, but she thought the sound of her voice might be soothing and help keep Adara grounded.

Adara hardly heard Cleo's words. She wanted to be alone with her grief, as much as she could want anything. Somehow, she managed to ask Cleo to walk her back to Ravenclaw Tower, though she could not recall her own words.
