Cleo strolled through Hogsmeade, content for the moment. She had just spent a large amout of her parents money on jewellery, one of her favourite things. She stopped to look in another shop window, tempted to go in, but she had spent enough for today and she carried on down the street.

(((Note to readers; this isn't Herr Snow himself, but an "associate" who works for him. Herr Snow wouldn't do the dirty work himself.)))
A man stepped just into the girl's path, his face everything polite and congenial, though his eyes remained distant and hard. "Excuse me, Miss," he said, "If you'll pardon my saying so, I've just noticed you leaving the jewellery shop, and I was wondering if you might spare a few minutes of your time for my curiosity."

Cleo stopped, startled to be faced by a stranger. She took a step back, distancing herself from him slightly. She took him in briefly, noticing the layer of civility he had wrapped around himself, but not failing to notice the hard look in his eye. "I shall pardon you" she said, a smile tugging at her lips. She was in a great mood, making her liable to not give straight answers, but the man could always try. "Ask away" she said, "If you'll get answers is an entirely different matter" she said softly. She was slightly suspicious and on her guard, but she couldn't see that it would hurt to at least hear the man out.

The man nodded his head lightly. "Thank you," he said, genuinely pleased that at least she was willing to speak with him. He chose his words carefully, hoping to get the maximum amount of information while giving away the least. "I am curious about the shop and the shopkeeper, from the perspective of a customer. You are a customer, I presume?" The man gestured to the bag of packages the girl carried.

Cleo nodded, wondering why the man was so interested in the shop and Emilian. "Yes, a very satisfied customer" she said with a grin. She waited for more questions, knowing they would come.

The man didn't so much as blink at the girl's words; he'd been briefed, and was familiar with Sota's habits, so it was unsurprising. "Do you know Mr. Sota personally?" the man asked casually, as though merely interested. "Again, if you'll pardon the observation, you are an attractive young woman, and with his reputation, it seems likely that he might have...pressed his advantage on you?"

"Do you mind me asking why you are asking so many questions?" she asked, raising one brow. "It may be none of my business, but I am willing to provide answers, if I know the reason." She smiled at his compliment. "The day I make someone apologise for calling me attractive will be a very sad day indeed sir" she said, not able to keep the smile from her face.

The man gave a cool smile and inclined his head again, acknowledging everything that the girl had said. "I am in the employ of a man who is curious about the shop and its owner. Mr. Sota is--how may I put this delicately?--a point of interest, and you could be well compensated for your efforts in assuaging that interest." The most influential arguments were always based in truth.

Cleo listened curiosly, "I see, well Mr Sota must have done something to arous the interest of your employer, I suppose he is too important to do the dirty work himself?" she asked, raising on brow in challenge. The man's questions were forgotten for a moment as she did her own questioning. "I have always found that information for information is often the most profitable trade" she said, smiling sweetly.

The man's smile didn't fade as he made his reply. "I am not at liberty to divulge the specifics of my employer's interests," he said. "And, as of yet, I cannot be certain whether you possess knowledge suitably relevant to his needs to warrant revealing any information about him. However," he added, looking at the girl appraisingly, "if you would be willing to assist, you might find yourself well compensated for the trouble." If Emilian was everything his reputation said he was, she seemed a likely accomplice.

"Well compensated" Cleo echoed, smiling openly at the man before her. She held up her bag, heavy with jewels. "By the amount of jewellery I just purchased, does it look to you as if I'm the kind of girl to how a compensation would appeal?" she questioned. She sighed. "Never mind, you have caught my interest and so I shall answer your questions and live in hope of one day meeting your fine employer or something" Cleo said with a grin.

The man's smile widened. "There are forms of compensation beyond mere Galleons," he told her. "My employer is a powerful and worldly man. I would not be amiss in stating that he could provide for your wishes, if he were properly motivated to do so. Tell me, Miss, how willing are you to assist?"

"Oh very sir" Cleo said seriously, though her eyes were twinkling. The man and his questions had definitely got her interested, and she wouldn't find anything out if she walked away.

Cleo smiled and followed him without a word.
