Looking for Peace(Cassie)

[Jacob Cullen]

Jacob entered The Three Broomsticks, a smile on his face, and a nice breeze following him through. He closed the door, and turned, seeing a nice crowd in the establishment today. Shuffling over to the bar, Jacob ordered a butterbeer, and then found a quiet table in the back corner. The smile never left his face. Not because he was smug, or mentally challenged or anything, but because he was genuinely happy. Kadie made him happy, and this simple fact was all he needed at that point in his life. Jacob took a sip of his butterbeer, enjoying the sensation of the liquid running down his throat, and then took out a thick book to read.

[Cassie Jones]

Cassie let her hood fall back to her shoulders, blond hair shining as she stepping into the crowded pub. She stood there for a moment, getting adjusted to the noise compared to the silence outside. She went to the bar and a smile swiftly made a drink appear in front of her. She looked around, wondering if anyone she knew was there. Her eyes lighted on a figure in one of the quieter areas of the pub, it was Jacob. Cassie sighed, she knew that for Kadie's sake they would both have to put their differences aside. She went over and smiled at him, trying to be friendly. "Hi, do you mind if I sit down?" she asked, her voice just loud enough of the babble to be heard.

Jacob looked up from his book, and smiled at Cassie lightly. Since he had met and fallen for Kadie, his and Cassie's little spat didn't seem to matter to him anymore. He got up, and like a true gentlemen, pulled a chair out for her. "Not at all. I always enjoy having a good converstation. Take a seat." Jacob wiggled the chair he was holding, and smiled at Cassie.

Cassie laughed, "Thanks Jacob" she said, sitting down and pulling the chair in a little after she had set down her butterbeer on the table. She was waiting for Jacob to take his seat again before she began to talk. She sipped her butterbeer, thoughts of Julius running through her mind, she smiled absently, not noticed she was.

Jacob walked back around the table, and took his seat, putting his book away, and taking a sip of his butterbeer. He noticed Cassie was smiling, and he couldn't help but smile himself. "You look awfully happy. How are things with you lately?"

[Cassie Jones]

"Really well thanks" she said brightly, her smile growing. "How are things with you and Kadie?" she asked, as that was why she really wanted to talk to him. "We didn't really part on the best of terms did we?" she said, her voice a little softer, her face more serious. "I wanted to clear the air, put things properly in the past. We're both happy now and so I don't think it should stand between us" she said, hoping that she wasn't going to be just dragging up past events.

Jacob smiled at Cassie, and nodded his head. "I completely agree with everything you said. What is in the past is in the past, and it shouldn't keep us from being friends. We both have bright futures ahead of us with people we love, and that is the only real thing that matters. Oh, and Kadie and I are doing fantastic! Couldn't be happier! I see her mask melting away more and more everyday. Why take my word for it though? Why don't we set up a double date, and we can bust a move and really have some fun?"

Cassie smiled with pleasure, she had been there since the beginning with Kadie, seen it all and although she hadn't let it show, she had really been concerned about her friend. They were as close as sisters and it had pained her to see her hurting so much. "It was hard seeing her like that" Cassie said softly, her expression grave. "I grew up with Kadie we were so happy, then she took her mask and she was icy, not to me, but to others and it hurt as I felt so powerless. I can't thank you enough that you managed to reach beyond the Dnow Queen and to the real Kadie" she said quietly, lifting her eyes to Jacob after her heartfelt apology. She smiled at his suggestion, a double date could have some serious opportunities. "That could be fun" she said slowly, her smile growing, "That sounds great" she said, reaffirming her response, nodding.

Jacob smiled at Cassie, and then blushed a little. "Well, it was my pleasure to do it. Kadie has completely changed who I am, and my outlook on life. She..........is just the most wonderful person I have ever met, and........I..................." Jacob stopped that comment before he said to much. He had told Kadie that once, but it was still young in their relationship and he didn't want to jinx anything. He took a sip of his butterbeer, and smiled. "That is great! I'll talk to Kadie, and you can talk to Julius, and we will set something up!"

Cassie nodded, she had a feeling what Julius had been about to say. But she respected their privacy and didn't dwell too long on the matter. "You try and stop me from talking to Kadie" she said, as if it was the silliest thing she had heard. "We're practically sisters" she said, instantly entitling them to know everything and talk to eachother non stop, which was what happened anyway.

Jacob smiled. "Oh, I don't mind you talking to Kadie. I know that you are going to do it no matter what I do. So have at it. Just don't be surprised if she doesn't say anything to you though." Jacob took another sip of butterbeer, and smiled at Cassie. He didn't really believe what he was telling her, but he really didn't have anything else to say.

Cassie nodded, "I can't force her to, and she kept you quite for a while at least" she said, sipping her butterbeer which had been fogotten for a while as they discussed their plans. "But maybe now that she know's we're friends, she'll be more willing to talk to me" she said with a shrug, they normally told eachother everything, it was only a matter of time before the other would realise something was up and the other would spill the beans.

Jacob was certain that Cassie was right, but he didn't want to dwell on the issue anymore. Smiling, Jacob took a sip of his butterbeer, and set it back down on the table. "So, anything exciting happen to you recently?" Jacob really didn't know what else to say, but he felt stupid for asking such a lame question.

[Cassie Jones]

Cassie giggled, she could imagine that Jacob felt stupid for asking a question like that. "Actually yes" she said, smiling with pleasure. "You know I own the candy shop here in hogsmeade. Well Julius moved into the flat above it" she said, her grin broadening. "It's so nice and we don't have to hide our relationship" she said honestly, it had been a big strain on them both and it was better now that they could be open.

Jacob smiled. "That is awesome news! I am so happy for you!" And he really was, because despite all his shortcomings, and the history between the two of them, Jacob really did care about Cassie, and all he truly wanted was for her to be happy. "So you guys are officially a couple now. How does that feel, not having to hide the fact that you two are in love anymore?"
