Kadie had not told him anything about the new guy she was seeing, if she was even seeing him. Jace just might have been jumping to conclusions from all the gossip. Who better to ask then Cassie? Still though, he felt just a little irritated at being left out. He was just as close to Kadie as Cassie was, even if he was a guy.
Still though, maybe she hadn't told him because she knew that Jace would want to meet the dude and give him the third degree. That was just Jace for you. After everything that had happened to Kadie, he was extremely protective. He'd been protective of her before, but now it was a lot worse. Especially since Kevin had died. He viewed himself as somewhat of the replacement brother, though he could never replace what Kevin was.
It was no secret that Kadie could take care of herself. She was the strongest girl he knew. She could kick guy's butts all the time. But that didn't change the fact that he was protective. He sat in one of the booths, waiting for Cassie to get there, wanting to catch up with her as well. He didn't listen to gossip much, but he still couldn't help but overhear stuff about her and a teacher. He was protective of Cassie as well, and was just a bit upset that she hadn't told him either. What was up with his two best friends and not telling him things anymore? Was it because he was a guy that they couldn't confide in him? His lips tightened and he chose not to think about it. At least, not until Cassie got there.

Cassie made her way into the pub, searching for Jace. It seemed like ages since she had seen him and she was eager to catch up. She caught sight of him and went over, smiling. "Hey!" she said, sliding into the booth opposite him. "How've you been?" she asked. She knew she was probably in for a grilling, about both her and Kadie. He had always been a big brother to her, someone she had really depended on. But it also made him very, very protective.

He managed a smile as she came in.
"I've been alright," he said with a shrug. Never one to beat around the bush, he was going to get right to the point.
"So, what's this I hear about you and some professor?" he asked with a quirk of his eyebrows. It didn't bother him that the guy was older then Cassie, though actually, okay, yes it did a bit. But that wasn't his biggest concern. He didn't even know the guy, for crying out loud! So for now, he couldn't approve of some dude trying it on with one of his best friends, when he didn't even know him.

Cassie smiled a little sheepishly. "About that, I'm sort of dating him" she said hesitantly. It was odd, whenever anyone else asked she was totally open about it. But as soon as Jace challenged her, she was unsure of herself. As her 'big brother' he had always been protective over her, but the whole guy thing hadn't been a problem before. "He's lovely though," she said, trying to reassure him she was ok.

He raised his eyebrows again.
"And does this dude treat you right?" he asked folding his arms a bit.
"When do I get to meet him?" he added. He didn't even care that the dude was a former professor here. He didn't have to treat any guy who was seeing Cassie with respect, until he actually respected the dude.
"And what about Kadie? Is she seeing..........what's his bucket?" he asked.

"He's a perfect gentleman, nothing but kind, considerate and caring. He's totally sweet and loveable." she said, she could go on and on, but she thought it would be enough for now. "Whenever you want" she said, hoping Julius wouldn't mind. At the thought of Kadie, Cassie grew a little more nervous, he probabyl wouldn't take too well to the idea of her dating someone who Cassie had also been involved in. "Dee is sorta seeing someone" she said vaguely, knowing it was a pathetic attempt at throwing him off the scent. Nothing got past Jace.

"Good," he replied when she said that he could meet Julius whenever he wanted.
He raised his eyebrows at Cassie's response.
"She's sort of seeing someone? What does sort of seeing someone mean? She either is or she isn't," he replied.
"And why are you so nervous all of a sudden? Is he a good guy, will he treat her right? And why did you two not tell me about your guys?" he asked.
And then he sheepishly looked at her.
"Probably cause you knew I'd act like the overprotective older brother, huh?" he asked gently with a smile.

Cassie watched with mounting apprehension, boy was he not going to be happy. But as the last words left his mouth she laughed, nodding as she agreed whole heartedly with what he was saying. "Absolutely" she teased. She slid round in the booth so that she was next to him. She gave him a hug, "I missed you" she said, hoping it would partly make up for not telling him sooner.
She released him from the hug, but stayed where she was. "Sort of seeing him is exactly what she is doing, she likes him, a lot, but hates him for how he makes her feel, when she was 'The Snow Queen' for so long, I think she's finding it hard" she started to explain. "As for me, I'm dating a professor, an ex professor" she corrected herself, wincing as she remembered him being fired and the threats that had arrived from Hells that day. "The only reason Dee knew was because we simply can't hide anything from each other, it's impossible. You know that. She's met him, we were at the club together. Anyway, I didn't want to tell anyone, we knew that it would be frowned upon, but we just couldn't help ourselves." At those words she hid a grin, she wasn't sure how much Jace would want to know about his 'little sister's' love life. "I'll spare you the details," she teased.

He gave her a smile as she hugged him.
"You're just trying to butter me up," he replied with a grin, though he hugged her back. He'd missed her too. He had his guy friends, a whole ton of them. But Cassie and Kadie were still his favorite people in the world. Possibly cause he'd grown up with them. And another reason was, they reminded him of Kevin. God, he missed him!
Jace listened to her words and shook his head at the last bit.
"Yes, spare me please," he said rolling his eyes playfully a bit.
"Well, I'm glad you're happy then. But that doesn't mean I approve of the guy yet," he added.
"And if he hurts you in any way, I'm gonna kick his ass, no questions asked."

Cassie laughed, agreeing that she was trying to sweeten him. "I know, you'll be the first to hear about it" she said, Jace could be so protective sometimes. "So what's been up with you now that you know every little detail of my life." she asked, then smiled. "Well not every one, but you said you didn't want to know"

He laughed.
"Well, I don't want to hear about the gross details of your life. You can keep your bedroom talk for your boyfriend, thank you," he said with a huge grin.
"Nothing really is up with me actually. I'm still causing havoc in the classes by just being me. Other then that, nothing really," he responded with a grin. Though that wasn't really true. He had met someone, Simone. But he was constantly meeting up with girls that it was no new thing. But still, his encounter with Simone had been different from all the others somehow. But he still wasn't sure what to make of it.

Cassie laughed, blushing a little, he didn't want to know and she definitely didn't want him to know.
"Oh go on, there must be something" Cassie said, she knew him well enough to know that something was usually going on. "I spilled by guts, not you can return the favour" she said with a grin.

"Yeah well, girls like to spill their guts. Guys are more quiet and mysterious," he said with a wink.
"And really, there isn't all that much to tell. You wouldn't want to hear all the gory details anyway," he said, the corner of his mouth lifting up in a grin.
"Anyway, when there is something to tell, I promise that you and Kade will be the first ones to know," he added.

Cassie laughed at Jace, laying her head on his shoulder for comfort. They were all so close and she hadn't realised just how much she had missed him before seeing him again.
She looked up at him suspiciously, "Are you trying to tell us something?" she teased. They had, after all, not told Jace for one reason or another for a while.

He laughed at her question.
"Nah. Not yet anyway. I'll let you know when I can tell Kadie at the same time," he responded.
"But I promise that I'm not delibratley keeping something from you," he added. It was weird that he did want to spill his guts about Simone. But he hadn't exactly asked her to be his girlfriend or anything. He'd never had a girlfriend before because he was such a player. And now, well, his thoughts were on only one girl. It was a completely new feeling for him, and he wasn't quite sure yet just what to make of it. In the meantime though, he was going to try to see Simone as often as he could.
