Emilian shrugged, "My Princess has already promised me she would come to see me afterwards, why take the risk?" he asked, though he wanted to get off of the subject. He didn't care to have some girl telling him what he should and shouldn't do when it came to something like that where the consequences could be so horrible.

Mari took a step back. Her eyes narrowed. "You're not going because you don't want to take a risk?" It seemed like a lame excuse to her. "The whole night is about taking risks. But whatever. Suit yourself. However boring it may be."

Emilian's eyes sparkled knowingly and shrugged again, "Maybe I'm through taking risks. I'll have plenty of fun afterwards." He knew that he'd enjoy himself more than anyone knew. he would be with her both at the masquerade and after.

Mari sighed. It didn't seem right. If he had changed, it had been to an extreme amount...unless he was just hiding something. "Thank you for the jewelry. It was nice to meet you." She said politely before turning to leave. "See you around." She said whether he was coming to the Ball or not. Mari opened the door and left.
