She had been told countless times to stay away from this very shop. Still, Mari placed her hand on the cool knob and turned. She stepped into the welcoming shop and was glad it was warm. She gently pushed her hood down. She didn't see anyone there to help her so she walked over to a case with many sparkling rings. She stared at them for a while. She could always buy one and send it to her mother. It would surely freak her out. Mari could only imagine the scene. Her expression, her words. It would be priceless. Mari shook her head slightly. No, she wouldn't do that. It would be quite pathetic and very desperate...

Emilian came down the stairs after running up to his living room to grab a drink to see a girl standing in the shop. It was really his first school-aged customer, well, besides Savannah, since the interview had been printed and he approached slowly. "Can I help you?"

The low voice behind Mari shocked her. She turned around. "I'm just looking." She said. Mari looked Emilian over and studied him. Nothing about him looked dangerous. Maybe the good people of Hogwarts were exaggerating. It wouldn't be the first time, She thought to herself allowing the memory of an opened newspaper with her name all of it fill up her mind. Mari moved away from the rings and onto the next case showing many sets of beautiful earings. She could get a pair for the ball. Something exquisite to go with her costume, but she wasn't really that interested in the jewelry. The thing that brought her to the shop was curiosity. She was beginning to wonder why there had been so many warnings against this place. "Are these all of the earrings you have?" She asked studying the selection.

Emilian chewed his cheek, the motion pulling at the scar on his cheek whose skin refused to loosen up. "There's singles over there," he gestured, "And there's some that are part of sets, they're really everywhere. What are you looking for?" He may have a bad reputation, but he was willing to help anyone that came into the shop, especially one that hadn't had the chance to hate him vehemently yet.

Mari furrowed her brows and thought. What was that she was looking for. "Something that dangles. And sparkles, but is not overly ostentatious. Like a pearl, perhaps?" Mari walked over to the singles. Her heels made the only noise in the shop as she moved and echoed some. She had no interest in sets, so she only looked over them briefly.

Emilian nodded and walked over behind a counter where there were some dangling pearls. "Like these? There's gold and silver." There was quite the collection, for such a small store one could never run out of things to look at, there seemed to be much more inside than the tiny shop could hold.

Mari studied them. She reached her hand out to touch them, but never did. Instead she let her hand fall to her side. "Those will have to do." She said containing her fascination. "In the gold, please." She requested. Mari hadn't worn any of her Hogwarts robes or uniform the whole time she was there. If she needed to, she would wear her cloak but even that was lying on the messy floor of her dorm today.

Emilian nodded and took out the earrings she pointed out, "300," he said, carrying them over to the register. His demeanor all business as he pulled out a small box, "Unless you want to wear them out," he said, his gaze going to hers and raising an eyebrow, waiting for her answer before putting the pieces in the box.

"A box would be great." Mari said not taking her eyes away from him. This certainly wasn't the same person she had been told about. Could it be possible that this was someone else? She debated whether or not to ask where the owner is. She decided not.

Emilian felt her eyes on him, even when he looked away from her to set the earrings in the box, and wondered. It seemed now that she had come to the store for more than earrings, he suddenly wondered how many people had told her specifically not to come to his store. "Not what you expected?" he asked sarcastically and perhaps slightly bitter, then opened the register drawer, ready for the payment, his eyes flicking up at her.

Mari pulled a few gold coins out of her purse. "The first person I met when I came back here told me to stay as far away as possible from here. So did the second. And the third." Mari said. She lifted her head and brought her eyes to his. She held out the gold coins. "So, naturally, how could I stay away and resist such a temptation?" She asked her lips curving into a smirk. "But now that I am here, I am wondering how anyone can think such rumors are true?" Mari closed her bag and raised an eyebrow. She wondered if there was more too it than just rumors.

Emilian smirked at her, "Who says they're rumors?" he asked, reaching out with his mottled left hand to take the money. He dropped the coins back into the register, not bothering to count them, and looked up at her again, once more raising an eyebrow. Of course, he had no idea if anything had been exaggerated, or if any lies had been introduced to the mix.

"I have no reason to believe they aren't rumors." Mari said. "Should I?" She asked. There certainly was no reason from this friendly visit. "Are you admitting they're true?" She asked not taking her eyes away or changing anything about her expression.

Emilian tilted his head, "According to what the rumors are. They used to be true, but with how things get distorted, I have no idea which ones you've been told." He had spent enough time at the school to know how messed up the real story got after a few weeks. Hopefully she'd enlighten him.

"What I've heard is that you are a sex addict that will bang tap anything that walks by with an ass. Including a certain Slytherin girl." Mari said. She turned her head to the side ever so slightly. "And that you have a tattoo of a fire-breathing Horntail on your chest." A small grin spread across her face. "Anything else?"
