Jane wandered down to the shreiking shack. It was one of her favourite places, she took a seat and opened her book. This was probably the only thing she and her sister had in common. They both liked to read. She flicked over pages before she heard a small scuffling. She looked up and reached inside her robes for her wand just incase it was needed.

Gabby had returned to the shrieking shack at last. After her ordeal with Vannah she had stayed away for weeks, not even able to look at it if she was in Hogsmeade. As she paused outside she hardened her resolve and swung the gate open. She pushed the door open and stepped inside, moving through to the room where it had all happened. She was surprised by who she saw there but she quickly smiled. "Kay, didn't think you would be here, how are you?" she asked. She had only glanced at her as she looked around the room, remembering that horrific night.

Jane looked up and noticed a girl standing there. "Kayleigh?" she asked, "you must be mistaken" she said coldly, "I'm Jane" she added "even though we look the same i assure you we arent" she said added with a sly smile. "Who are you by the way, perhaps my sister has mentioned you like everyone else good and bad" she asked.

Gabby blushed, embarrassed that she hadn't even recognised her own friend. "Well it's not my fault you're identical" she muttered. "I knew she had a twin, just not here." Gabby said, defending herself. "I'm Gabrielle" Gabby answered, guessing that Kay probably hadn't called her that so she might not having anything against her name.

"Yeah i blame our mother" she said sarcastically. "Well just remember that she does have a twin and i think that whenever you see me or my sister you ask which one it is before making assumptions" she said coldly. "Gabrielle ey. She mentioned a Gabby, she said she was sweet and a lovely person" she said, "And there's not reason she wouldnt be, my sister probably brought that out of her you know. She's such a sap" she told her smiling.

"I don't need to ask" Gabby retorted, "All I have to do is talk to you for two seconds and I could tell you apart" she finished coldly. "Most people do call me Gabby" she admitted, brushing her curls out of the way. "Kay is not a sap, although in comparison to you she may be mistaken as one" Gabby said loyally, defending Kay against her own twin.

"Oh okay" she said sarcastically, "well you definately could. You know believe it or not i am generally a nice person. And i was going to give you the benefit of the doubt but when people cross me i become a completely different person" she told her. "Just thought you'd like to know that" she added with a smile. "I think i know my own sister, I mean i've known her my entire life" she told her, "and she is a sap but it is sometimes a good thing. She has a warmth that i dont have" she added quietly to herself. "Since i'm in a good mood today and i admire your er" she paused thinking for the word "bravery. I'm going to put this behind me and start afresh if you would like. Seeing as you are my sisters friend" she added with a sincere smile this time.

~How kind of you~ was about to come tumbling out of Gabby's mouth, and not in a polite way, bu she bit it back. For Kay's sake she smiled. "I'm Gabby, friends with your sister Kay, it's nice to meet you Jane." Gabby said, her voice was clear and not clouded by anger this time. "How long have you been here?" she asked, making conversation.

"Wow i didn't expect all that i really just meant an introduction" she said, "well it's nice that my sister has friends. She wasn't really very popular before this school" she said. "plus from what she's told me you are quite popular" she said. "I've been here just as long as my sister." she said, "i've knd of lost count" she added. "I'm guessing you've been here a while" she said, "not trying to say you look old though" she added.

Gabby laughed and shrugged, "I don't do things by halves" she said, finally deciding to sit down. "She flatters me, I'm. I was, a popular play thing for girls in slytherin at one point, but that's behind me now" she said, briefly delving into the past. "Other than that, I guess you could say I know everyone, but" she shrugged, showing she was non-committal on the subject. She nodded, "I arrived as a first year but about two months ago I returned from nearly six months away." Gabby said vaguely, not saying where or why she had been away.

Jane put her wand back in her pocket she had forgotten to and it was about time. She shifted a little when Gabby sat down and she moved her book to the side not forgetting to mark the page in someway. "Well at least you know everyone. I used to be the popular one in the muggle world. But not here yet. I intend to make my mark" she said jokily. "Thats a long time away - must have been something horrible" she said, "and it's a shame you were picked on by us slytherins although no offense but you should know how proud we are. Did you start it by any chance?" she asked her.

Gabby nodded gravely, tilting her head as she looked at Jane. "My grandmother grew ill, I returned home and spent her last month with her. Then I couldn't bear to return to school so I didn't" she said seriously. "Sort of, it's hard to place the blame" she replied honestly, "but I came off worse I know that much" she added, thinking about her fresh scars.

Jane didnt really want her whole life story but it was nice that she was opening up to her. "I'm sorry about your grandma" she said sincerely because she was it wasnt nice to lose someone. "Kayleigh and I are lucky we still have our grandparents" she said. "I know i place blame all the time, I can't seem to accept my wrongdoings" she said opening up to Gabby. "You know I have a feeling my sister is right about you. And i never thought i'd say this but I'm sorry i snapped at you at first. It's just annoying when people call me Kay we have some fallings out as twins cause we share looks and shared everything else and children -even friends" she told her. "But even through the times she has annoyed me I do still love her even though i don't tell her" she said.

Gabby nodded, "It's ok, I seem to inspire that reaction in a lot of people, I've come to accept it" she said with a grin. "Thanks about my grandmother, we were real close" Gabby stopped, talking about her would only upset her right now. "How is she right about me?" Gabby asked, curious.

Jane laughed. "I accept the way others view me too" she said. "I bet you were, grandmas are special" she said stopping. "Well that would be telling wouldnt it" she teased. "Well she said that you are kind and caring which is evident from how you described your relationship with your grandma. She said you're willing to stick up for yourself without thinking about the consequences which i witness just now and that overall you are one of the nicest people she has ever met" she explained. "Kay normally has nice things to say about people except this one girl Vannah who she got into a fight with here" she said.
