Ravenclaw. The name sent a chill down Michael's spine, that's where his last two girlfriends had come from, one of which he hadn't seen in months. His hand slowed as he contemplated drawing something, someone else, but he shook his head, deciding against it. "Where'd you get put?" he asked, almost lost in thought.

"Gryffindor," Dare said. He glanced up at Michael and paused at the look on the other guy's face, the sudden and complete change of light in his eyes. "What is it," he asked. "Gryffindor's not like carrying Ebola around here is it?" He looked down at his page, quickly smudging something out, then began to redraw, his eyes flickering up at Michael. That expression wasn't one he usually saw on anyone but Silver, and he wanted to get the differences right before it faded.

"Hm?" Michael didn't immediately make the connection between the question and the expression on his face, but it came to him soon enough. "Oh, no, though I'm a Slytherin." He shrugged, "I never saw the big deal of hating houses. No," he said, shaking his head gently, "sorry, just some memories." He glanced up at Dare again before looking down at the shapes that had become a figure, whether he had agreed with it or not.

"Memories, hm? Good or bad?" Dare looked back down at his drawing, working from memory for now, though somehow he hoped he could prod the look back on Michael's face. He could do it by memory, but there were some details that just ended up better when you caught them first-hand. Dare set aside the color he'd been sketching out shapes with and picked up another to shade in a large area.

"Little of both," Michael said, not looking up. "An ex and....well," he stopped for a minute, looking off into the trees thoughtfully. "I've not seen her in months, I suppose that would make her an ex, wouldn't it?" It was more of a statement, and he looked back down at the face appearing on the paper, the memory was getting a little ragged at the edges, so it had a less tangible feel to it than some of the rest.

God, his face was so expressive, Dare almost thought about changing his drawing again. He continued what he'd been doing, though, incorporating what he'd seen before with the glimpses he was taking now. His hand flashed across the page, getting what he could before it changed again. "She go to school here?" Dare asked, trying to keep up conversation as he worked. "She could just be busy," he suggested. "There's a lot of that going around."

Michael shook his head, "She goes here, that's part of it, I've not heard anything from her, either." He thought back to the last time they had been together, had he done something to make her pull away from him? To push her away? He didn't know, it hadn't seemed that way at the time. He drew in a few lines, then picked up another color to fill in her skin, starting in on his random additions like he always did.

"There's no telling then. What's she like? She ever disappeared on you before?" Dare picked out a few more colors now, wedging them between free fingers as he drew, keeping them close so he could switch out at will. He hadn't used color yet since he'd been at Hogwarts, and it was a challenge capturing the deep shades of the forest with chalks; he was enjoying the challenge.

"No, never." While they hadn't been able to see each other constantly, Michael and Anna had seen each other pretty often. "I mean, she never clung or anything, but we were together often enough." He sighed and smoothed out the color with a finger, the single strokes melding together to form a consistant shade.

"I don't know, man," Dare said, the shapes on his page still more shape than picture, though it was developing. "I mean, all there is is guesswork, unless you send her an owl or something. Maybe something scared her off?" It was just a suggestion, with no real inflection behind it. Dare didn't know Michael well, didn't know his girlfriend at all, but the subject was big enough that he felt like he could at least try.

"Wouldn't be the first time," Michael muttered to himself, the words barely audible. He had a tendancy to scare off girls he met, though it had been a while since he had, and it had never happened because of something physical. He went quiet, focusing on the shading of the picture, on making it seem almost surreal.

Dare let the subject go. There wasn't anything useful he could add, and he didn't feel like talking just for the sake of making noise, so he turned his attention more fully to his drawing. He hadn't done a portrait since Silver on the Hogwarts Express, and Silver's face was one he'd drawn so many times it was nearly reflex by now. He didn't know why he'd decided to draw Michael, but he was going with it, and he was enjoying the moment.

Michael looked up at Dare, his mind still on Anna, meeting his eyes for a brief moment during a glance before he turned his eyes back to the picture on the page. "So, can I see when you're done?" he asked, he had the feeling that it wasn't the first time Dare had glanced up at him, and it gave him the impression that Dare was drawing him, and if he was wrong, so be it. He wanted to see it either way, if it was alright with Dare.

Dare had a feeling Michael knew what he was up to, so he did what he always did with Silver at that point. "Depends; do you mind if I draw you?" The corner of his lips twitched, the closest he'd get to a smirk at this point. Some people had enormous issues with being drawn, with knowing they'd been observed, but either way, he'd gotten far enough into the picture that he could finish it later if need be, or duplicate it if it came to that.

Michael gave a light laugh and looked up, "No, doesn't bother me. Draw as much as you want, but I swear if you ask me to pose you'll regret it." His eyes gleamed with humor and he grinned. Normally he would have had a problem with being watched, but knowing how it was wanting to draw something or someone knew, he couldn't exactly hold it against Dare.
