Well that wasn't what Dru had been expecting. "Oh, I...I'm sorry, I didn't...." but she let that thought fade away, it was obvious that she didn't know. She looked away and bit her lip, bringing her hands together in her lap. She almost mentioned that she knew how it was, but quickly decided against it. She was immediately sorry she had asked.

"No, it's fine," Dare said, his voice low, but still audible. He wasn't going to fault her for asking, there was no way she could have known, it was an innocent question, even if it was one that still burned. His hand moved faster over the page, going over realistically-rendered marks with more expressive ones and slowly altering the feel of his drawing with it. "It's just...it hasn't been that long," he said eventually. His mind went looking for a different topic, and Silver was close, so he latched on. "So what'd you talk about with Silver?" he asked.

Dru felt bad for bringing it up, but let Dare move on to another topic. "A little of everything, the weather, his writing, my club, some other things, too." Despite the awkwardness of the previous topic, Dru couldn't help but smile a little. They had also talked about Chase, which Silver hadn't judged her for, and the spoiled brats they had had to deal with. She slowly turned her eyes back to the drawing, watching how it was changing.

"Your club," Dare repeated, the words more statement than question. "I heard about that. The Bloody Mary or something, right?" He kept his head bowed, kept up the quick, sweeping motions of his hand, his words coming out lower as he focused more attention on the development of the picture. It turned out he wasn't pumping her for information on his brother after all. Not when he'd just discovered that she owned one of the most interesting places he'd heard about.

"Yeah, I told him he'd have to come down sometime." Dru watched Dare for a minute, still silently amazed at how some people's hands could produce such wonderful pieces. "You'll have to, too." She would like to see the two brothers at the club. She faintly wondered who had mentioned it to Dare, but since it was so well-known, being the only place to go around, she didn't think on it very much.

Dare's hand paused, and he raised his head, tilting it just far enough to look at Dru. "I'm going tonight, actually," he said, smiling. "Another Gryffindor told me about it, convinced me to go with her." He shrugged lightly, the awkwardness of a few minutes before banished to the back of his mind again. "She said it was awesome, everyone hung out there."

Dru grinned but looked away, shrugging, "There's nowhere else to go. I know some people wouldn't come if given a choice, since there's no alcohol." Her mind went back to when Chase had asked her if a lot of people sneaked it in, and she had had to answer yes. If somewhere else opened up that did serve it, Dru was screwed.

Dare scoffed at that. "I don't see what the big deal is," he said, moving back to his drawing, filling in minor details now. "If you can't have fun without alcohol, you're doing it wrong." Maybe most of the world disagreed, but Dare saw things most people didn't, and he liked seeing them. "What about you? Was it your decision, or was it something that happened because it's mostly students that go?"

"Well I hadn't planned on having alcohol to begin with, my friend that started it with me did, though, and one of the guys sneaked it in when I didn't know about it. We were almost shut down because of it and the Headmistress banned it." Dru wrinkled her nose, "I didn't like it when I found out about what that idiot Spencer or Alfred, whatever, had brought in." She agreed with Dare, she saw no reason to drink alcohol, she had seen what it did to people and she felt no need to try it.

"People are morons," Dare said, his tone stating that it was basic information, but just had to be said, considering the conversation. "It's like...why be in such a hurry to do everything, right? You end up missing stuff that way." As though punctuating his point, Dare began a series of tight-edged strokes against the page, then smudged them with his finger, creating a deep texture to the robes of the girl he was drawing.

"Sometimes it's hard to slow down, though." Not that she didn't agree with him, just that Dru knew how hard it was to not hurry through everything. It could be nearly impossible. "Especially when we're pushed so hard to succeed now that there's no time for anything." She had always felt like she was rushed, even when she was relaxed it was always in the back of her mind that she needed to get her work done, or that she needed to get to the club.

"Ah, well there's the difference between you and me. My dad got pushed so hard he and Mom didn't hardly push us at all. It was pretty much up to us to decide where we want to take ourselves." And he figured they'd done pretty well. Maybe they'd have done better if they'd been pushed to succeed, but Dare wasn't into ifs.

Dru grimaced, "My dad always pushed me so hard. If my grades fell just a point, or if my room had a t-shirt or two in the floor." She rolled her eyes, like her dad had had perfect grades, no, far from it. "I think it's better if they're easy-going, not nearly as much stress from what I've seen." The stress factor had always been what had made it bad for Dru, she could do the work, but constantly being pressured wasn't good for her.

"Stress kills," Dare said solemnly. He worked on his picture in silence for a moment before speaking again. "My dad's great. He's a moron sometimes, but he's people, so I give him a break." His lips curved just a bit at the corner. "You keep your t-shirts on the floor when you're not at home?" He wouldn't be surprised either way.

Dru grinned, "Of course, I leave as much crap in my floor as possible. That way he has to look at it every time he passes my room." Her eyes gleamed with humor. "And there's nothing he can do about it cause I'm way up here." The week before she left he had told her over and over to clean everything up, she had just ignored him and packed.
