"But that's what I don't get! How can it be like that? How can you do something so intimate and it mean nothing? That makes no sense." Dru looked out a window she could see high up near the ceiling, the clouds and blue sky the only thing visible. She didn't know, like usual, her good mood had been burned to the ground.

Cassie sighed, wondering how she could explain to Dru. "I've had both types of sex" she started, "With Chase , all it was was satisfying the primal desires of our bodies, there was no emotional link, because neither of us wanted or expected that. It was spur of the moment" Cassie continued, unsure of how to explain the rest. "But sometimes, with somebody else" Cassie said hesitantly, not wanting to name Julius "sometimes there was that deeper connection and it feels so good, and whole and precious." Cassie stopped, she wasn't exlpaining this very well and the last thing she wanted to do was confuse Dru even more.

"It's hard because....I feel so..." Dru closed her eyes and remembered the feeling, "I don't know how to explain it. And then he goes and just has sex with someone?" She sighed, shaking her head. She was thinking about it again, and it was horrible, she hated thinking about it. She stood up, "I've gotta go," she said, not looking at Cassie.

Cassie nodded dummly. "I understand" she managed to force out. She slumped on the desk, resting her forehead on her arms. Cassie forced her tears bacl and just sat there, not thinking and not moving, feeling numb.

It may have sounded like Dru was angry at Chase, but she wasn't, she really wasn't. She had already agreed to let him do whatever he wanted. But that didn't mean it didn't hurt when she saw it lay out like that. She left the library in search of something to get her mind off of it.

Cassie heard Dru walk away and took several breaths, trying to calm herself down. Slowly she raised her head and looked around. Relieved that she didn't see anyone she slipped off her chair and went to pick up the page from the paper that Dru had crumpled up. She slipped it into her bag before immersing herself in her work, giving herself no room to think about anything else.
