Gabby ran down the castle steps and across the groomed lawn as she headed for the wild forbidden forest. Her hair streamed behind her and her cloak billowed in the wind. Casie was sobbing as she ran, a letter scrumpled in her hand. Her parent's had finally written back, but it wasn't the reply she had hoped for. As she reached the shelter of the trees, she sank onto the ground and curled up, shaking as the tears slid down her cheeks. Gabby was so numb that she didn't realise when it started to rain softly.

Kayleigh was wandering around the outskirts of the forbidden forest. So had happened here these past two days. She saw a girl run down and realised it was Gabby. "Gabbs" she called after her She watched her curl up on the ground and knelt down beside her. "What's up?" she aske comfortingly. Suddenly it started to rain - but she thought shed risk it.

Gabby just dropped the letter in Kay's direction without speaking. The letter was from her mother, apparently her father couldn't even bear to talk to her. Her mother asked her to come home immediately, break of the agreement and never see Ryan again. Gabby's mother assumed she had been bewitched and she threatened to come to school herself to collect her daughter and take her home. Gabby was shaking as she went over her mother's words in her mind.

Kayleigh read the letter, and put it down slowly. Her eyes filled with tears for Gabby. "Oh Gabby i'm so sorry" she cried wrapping her arms around her. "I'm so sorry for you" she said. "But hey, i'm full of ideas. If you give me a moment i'll think of something" she said racking her brains/

Gabby sobbed, the tears sliding down her cheeks thick and fast, she clung to Kay, trying to get some comfort from her. After a few moments the tears slowed and she calmed down slightly. "I don't know what to do" she whispered. "I can't do it. I can't leave Ryan" she said, her eyes bright with tears and her hands shaking. "But I can't turn my back on my family." she said. Gabby was caught in the middle, and she felt as if she was being split in two.

She hugged her back. She really needed comfort and she never let a friend down. "Well what have your parents got against Ryan?" she asked, "I understand i mean you dont want to leave you parents - but when i think of an idea you wont have to" she told her reassuring her. Kayleigh felt a tear slide down her cheek she hated seeing someone she cared about so upset. She brushed it away quickly and continued to comfort her.

"I don't know" Gabby answered, wiping the tears from her cheeks and sitting up slightly, brushing off her cloak as she drew it around herself. "I'm so young, he's american, we met at school" she said, ticking them off on her fingers. "It could be anything" she said sighing.

"Well maybe you should invite him back with you just so they can meet him. Ive never met him but he sounds like a nice person. Invite him back i mean they've never met him so they shouldn't judge him" she said. "Well if youve found love then you're lucky. They should appreciate that" she told her. "Well i'm thinking that you stay enagaged till youre eighteen if you can wait that long - 3 years to get money so you can buy a place and support each other" she said. "But i defiantely think you should get them to meet him. Maybe they were just taken by surprise because they didn't think this would happen and they don't know him at all. They're probably just shocked" she rambled.

Gabby nodded, a tiny smile crept onto her face as Kay chatted on. "Thanks, and yes I suppose they should meet him, I mean I haven't really told them anything since returning to school, I didn't want to worry them. They don't know about the scars, or Ryan. I'm sure they're just surprised." Gabby said, as much to herself as to Kay. "Will you come too?" she asked suddenly, "it might take some of the pressure of us and they would be glad to meet a friend" Gabby asked imploringly, using her big chocolate eyes to try and win Kay over.

"Wow im full of good ideas" she said jokily now that Gabby was smiling. "I mean you never mentioned him then suddenly you're engaged. They're probably quite shocked and surprised" she said. "Maybe you shouldnt mention the scars..." she said, "take one thing at a atime" she added. "Sure of course i'll come and help you out. Im glad to see you happier" she said smiling and leaning back a little bit to relax a little more.

The smile on Gabby's lips grew slightly. "Thanks Kay," she said, looking up at her earnestly. "I don't know what I'd do without you. And before we go, you've got to meet Ryan and get to know him a bit" Gabby added thoughtfully as she caught up her curls in a plait and tapped the end with her want to hold it in place using an odd spell from her grandmother's collection.

"You're very welcome" she said smiling "I know im just the best" she said jokily, "just kidding im not that big headed" she added. "Yeah that sounds good" she siad, "ive been wanting to meet him for a while - the love of your life" she said smiling, "thats sweet" she added. "Thats a pretty good spel" she remarked, "you'll have to teach me sometime" she added with a big grin happy she had made Gabby feel better.

Gabby giggled slightly. "It saves me from using about a million hair band a week." she joked weakly, feeling better after Kay's advice. "I'll have to owl him to see when he's free." she said, pondering on how to arrange everything. She bit her lip. "I just hope my mother doesn't turn up. I suppose I should reply and put the idea to her." she said. "I hope my dad's not too angry, we're so close" she whispered.

"I bet it does" she said. "Yeah well hopefully he'll be free soon so you guys can get this all done and dusted" she said - she loved that phrase. "I dont think she will I mean its a long way from the country to Hogwarts" she said, "unless she wanted to apparate - but she might have done that when she recieved the letter" she said. "Or if she does come - then she could meet him" she said. "You're dad will recover eventually" she said reassuringly. "Then you'll be really close" she added with a smile.

Gabby gripped Kay's hand gratefully. "Thanks, you've really helped. Everything's going to be fine" she said, reassuring herself. Gabby smiled up at Kay. "Come on, let's go find Ryan, the sooner the better." Gabby said. She got up and dusted herself off, flicking her plait over her shoulder.
