Michael was out, the castle had become rather oppressive and he needed the air. He loved the outdoors and he was sitting on a rock that hung out over the lake, staring over the sparkling water at the tiny waves that were being sprung up because of the light breeze. Everything seemed just right, and his thoughts waved from Anna to Emilian and back to Anna again.

Gabby unknowingly swam towards where Michael was sitting. She had been swimming a lot lately as it was a way for her to get some excercise and it was so warm that the water had lost its chill. When she saw him she groaned, she had left her towel on the grass and Gabby was still sensistive about her scars. She sighed, there was obviously no alternative. She slipped out of the water and tried to slip by Michael, walking towards her towel. Gabby didn't even try hiding her scars as it wasn't possible, Michael either saw her or he didn't.

Michael hadn't missed Gabby going by him, just like he hadn't missed the scars. "Still haven't learned to keep your wand to yourself?" he asked, looking over at her. The first time he had met her they had had a conversation about not bringing your wand on someone and it appeared that it had went in one ear and out the other.

Gabby froze and sighed. She turned to look at Michael. "Oh that I've learnt," Gabby said as she picked up her towel and used it to dry off her hair. "But other people haven't. Not both of my new ones were my fault" Gabby said, moving closer to Michael as she gave up caring, he had already seen one of her scars, seeing the other two wouldn't be that bad.

"Mm." Michael watched her for a moment more before looking away from her again and out across the lake. He doubted that they weren't her fault, she had probably done something that made her deserve it. He bent his knees and put his elbows on them, linking his fingers in front of him.

"One came from Lucretia. We were at the quidditch pitch and I was talking to her. she lost control and managed to send me tumbling off my broom and I broke me wrist as well. The other came from a duel I had with Savannah Brooks in the Shrieking Shack. She also ended up in the hospital wing. And yes, we were dueling but I had every right to attack her. She was making me relive what my death eater brother had done to me" Gabby said bitterly as she wrapped her towel around her, concealing only her longest scar.

"Why the hell would you even go to Savannah? You took the guy she loved, if anything you should avoid her like the plague." Michael stared at her for a moment in disbelief before shaking his head and looking back ahead of him.

"I didn't know she was going to be there. She was using legilimency. How was I supposed to just walk away?" Gabby asked coldly. At the mention of Ryan though she softened slightly, thughts of their most recent encounter fresh in her mind.

Michael didn't even look at her. "The second you see her, you turn and leave, it's not that hard. Even a glimpse of someone that you clash with so horribly should be enough to make you run." He shook his head again and watched as the Giant Squid swam lazily across the top of the lake a little ways out.

Gabby watched the squid fascinated before Michael's words brought her back to earth. "Well excuse me for not." Gabby said sarcastically. She turned to her pile of clothes next to her bag and her wand. She pulled on her clothes and put on her ring, she was never far from it and she had already attatched several spells to it so it wasn't stolen. She touched the cool diamond and smiled to herself before turning back to Michael. "Look, although I'm glad of what I did, I'm not proud of it." she said softly, running a hand through her curls to help them dry. "But Vannah did deserve it" she added.

"Oh really," Michael asked, still watching the squid. He liked Savannah, he didn't have a problem with her, and he had talked to her after her encounter with Emilian. She didn't seem to be someone that really deserved anything that was given her, she had just been dealt a bad hand.

"Yes really" Gabby replied. "She has attacked me several times, unprovoked at the time" she continued. "She's not exactly the lovliest person in the world." She muttered, twising her ring round her finger, watching as the squid withdrew back to the depths of the lake. She sighed, everything has to be difficult.

"If I had been through what she had then I'd be like that, too. Hell, I was like that. I was worse, probably. It takes something big to make someone like that, and something bigger to make them stop." Michael wrung his hands together, not sure what he would do if Gabby asked, he wasn't sure if he wanted her to know what he had been through, but he didn't know if he wanted to hide it, either.

Gabby rose an eyebrow at Michael, wondering what he was getting at. "Well I recently discovered that when I was eight my half brother kidnapped me, took me to one of his daeth eater meetings, and gave me the scar I showed you before by cutting me open to collect my blood" Gabby said pleasantly. "I had been made to forget until Vannah dragged it up." Gabby continued quietly, looking Michael in the eye.

"Listen," Michael said, looking up at her. "I'm sure that that was pretty traumatic, but give me a break, there's much worse that could have happened to you." His eyes finished his words for him, I know from experience, and he turned his gaze from her again just in time to catch the squid diving back down to the bottom of the lake.
