The edge of procrastination

[Brooke Davidson]

Brooke sat down leaning against the wall putting the final touches on her paper. It was due later that day and Brooke had just started it that very morning. It may not have been not have been mindblowingly brillent but it was passible and really all she needed to do was pass her classes. She bent over the paper as she worked on the final paragraph, in her mind one of the most important because it was the last impression the part most likely to be remembered.

[Reed Brennan]

Reed was walking pretty quickly, but she hadn't noticed it. Her head was down and she was only focused on her destination. She turned the corner and stopped abruptly. "Oh my god!" She gasped in surprised and accidentally dropped her book. She had stopped right before walking into a girl who was sitting on the ground. "Sorry." She apologized as she bent down to pick it back up.

Brooke smiled a closed mouthed smile "Very nice darling." She said in a sweet but slightly biting voice as she looked up from her paper. The girl seemed to be slightly older then herself and Brooke recognized that the girl was from her house because of her robes.

[Reed Brennan]

Reed blushed slightly, but it wasn't that noticeable on her unusually pale face. "Are you alright?" She asked unsure of the damage she did. "I mean, did I step on you or something?" She asked. Reed was glad the girl was in her house. She didn't feel up to a duel at the moment.

Brooke put her paper into her bag and stood up. "Oh I'm fine," It wasn't like she probaly would have been that hurt even if she had been stepped on. "Where are you off too in such a great hurry." It wasn't probably anywhere inportant, Brooke thought to herself, if it had been then the other girl wouldn't have stopped.

[Reed Brennan]

"Oh, just off to the Common Room. Nowhere big." Reed said waving it off. She tugged on the sleeves of her sweatshirt to conceal her bruises that got seemingly worse each day. "Mostly just trying to avoid my brother. He won't be able to find me in the Common Room." She said. Reed tilted her head to the side. "This is an odd place to be writing a paper." She said noticing the parchment the girl had earlier.

Brooke shrugged "Not really, its almost deserted and other then the random pedestrian there isn't very many distractions." She looked over the other girl and noticed her tugging on her sleeves. "Why ever wouldn't you want your brother to find you, I thought siblings were supposed to be all close and stuff." She said lightly, not that she would really know she had been an only child for her whole life.

[Reed Brennan]

"Oh, we are close." Reed nodded in agreement. "He is my twin, my other half, etc., etc." She said waving her hands as she talked. "But he has a false grasp of reality." She said plainly. She was beginning to think maybe she shouldn't have said anything about her brother.

[Brooke Davidson]

Brooke smiled sweetly, a sympathetic smile of someone who was used to listening to people even if it was only because she was interested in anything interesting. "Most boys don't really see reality the way they should." It was something about being a boy that made them think a lot of stuff that was in no way consistant with what was real, they thought they were invincable, irrisistable ect.

[Reed Brennan]

"Yeah, well..." Reed trailed off not really having anything else to say. She looked at the girl. "I'm sorry, I don't think I remember your name. I'm Reed." She offered with a polite smile.

Brooke nodded "Brooke" she said politely as she tried to figure out if she had ever heard the name, nope it was entirely new to her though it was an interesting name. "Nice to meet you." She crossed her arms as she spoke.

[Reed Brennan]

"Yeah, you too." Reed said. A sharp pain in her hip made her smile falter. Her free hand immediately flew to where she had felt the pain, but her elbow had hit her book sending another bruise up her arm through her bruise. Reed cursed under her breath.

Despite herself Brooke held out a hand and touched the other girls shoulder "What's wrong, do you need to go to the hospital." She knew that there had to be something wrong so the question of the other girl being ok wasn't needed.

Reed shook her head. She bit her lip to keep from gasping when Brooke touched her shoulder. The pain would be over soon, she kept telling herself. "I'm fine." She managed to say with a small smile.

Brooke rolled her eyes "Do I really look that dumb." She said in a crisp manner before rapidly pulling up the other girls sleeve. "Yeah your totally fine." She said staring at the other girls face in a almost challange.
