Gabby made her way to the lake shore. Over her shoulder she had a bag with a towel, a book , her wand and several other bits and pieces. She was wearing cut off shorts and a halter neck top over her bikini with flip flops on her feet. She dumped her bag on the ground and pulled out her towel. Gabby streached out on the towel and closed her eyes, absorbing the warmth. She just had a feeling the peace and quiet wouldn't last for long.

Annabelle walked to the edge of the lake soaking up the sunrays. She'd hardly taken a break to get fresh air lately, and was grateful for the good weather. When she hadn't been focusing on the store or her studies, her mind drifted off to the only other constant in her life at the time. Michael.
As she wandered the shore, she bent down and picked a small daisy. Twirling it absentmindedly between her thumb and fingers, she let her thoughts focus on him. It wasn't thinking of him that was the problem, she loved him, everything about him. It was the future that scared her, and just how close or far away that future might be. She stopped her meandering to stare unfocused out across the lake, completely oblivious to the girl who was now lying in her shadow.

Gabby felt the warmth cocooning her body disappear and she opened her eyes to look up at the culprit. The sun was so bright it was hard for Gabby to tell who it was, but she was pretty sure she didn't know them. She pulled her body up, leaning on her elbows and cleared her throat. "Hi, um I don't mean to be rude, but you kind of stole my sun."

Annabelle started at the sound so close behind her. "Oh!" She turned to see who the unfamiliar voice belonged to. Not recognizing the girl, she stepped off to the side and looked again now that her face wasn't in the shadows. She'd seen the girl around, but couldn't place a name, or even the house she belonged to. "I'm sorry, I guess I was woolgathering and didn't see you there."

Gabby smiled, sitting upright. "That's fine, I'm always walking along with my heads in the clouds." She paused, taking in the girls appearance, she didn't look like a slytherin, Gabby liked her already. "I'm Gabby, gryffindor. fourth year," Gabby said, running through all the questions that were usually asked. "how about you?" she asked with a smile.

Annabelle smiled at the girl's forwardness, definately a Gryffindor trait. "I'm Annabelle. I'm 6th year Ravenclaw, and I run the bookstore." She felt like she was running through a list of her credentials, but supposed it was always like that with introductions. At least she hadn't spouted off about her boyfriend or wand measurements or anything. "So do you lay down by the lake often?" She'd heard of people liking to sun-bathe, but it sounded boring to her.

"Normally I go swimming in the lake, but my body hasn't really healed enough for that yet," Gabby said. "I'm just so sick of being inside so I thought I could come out and soak up the sun. How about you, do you steal people's sun , or walk by the lake often?" Gabby smiled up at Anabelle, after gently teasing her.

"It's my favorite place to come outdoors." She answered Gabby's question before asking one of her own out of politeness. "What do you mean your body hasn't healed yet, if you don't mind me asking?" Anna didn't want to pry into someone's life that she didn't know, but she knew people generally didn't drop statements that left such huge questions hanging in the air if they didn't want to talk about it.

Gabby indicated her scars, visible because of her swim suit. "I mean that, I was in the hospital wing until two days ago and I shouldn't really be out here. But life can't just stop," Gabby sighed, She shivered slightly in the breeze and pulled on her top and shorts. Sitting cross legged on the ground, "sit down if you want, or I'll end up with a crick in my neck" Gabby joked.

Annabelle sat down with her legs off to the side, there wasn't much else to do without being rude. "So why were you in the hospital wing? Everyone's been talking about Emilian and Chase ending up there, but no one mentioned you being involved." She'd heard about Emilian and Chase ending up there, which is why she was at the lake instead of hunting down her friends like she wished she could. She assumed they'd be in the hospital with their boyfriends, and hadn't particularly wanted to run into either boy.

"I was at the quidditch pitch and Storm cursed me, I fell off my broom and had injuries from the curse. I ended up unconcious on the ground and bleeding, which gave me another scar. Luckily Ryan was around, he took me up to the hospital wing. Although he was hit by the same curse the day before, as he was protecting me from it." Gabby sighed, when it was said like that, she just seemed to attract trouble.

"Wow." Anna exclaimed, realizing just how out of the loop she apparently was. "So are you and Ryan....?" She fished for information, it sounded like they spent a good deal of time together so it was easy to assume they were an item.

Gabby blushed, "We're going out yes." Gabby supplied. "We even made it into the daily prophet and people have been talking about us because of the age difference." Gabby shrugged, she was used to people talking about them but it was refreshing to meet someone who had no idea.

Annabelle shrugged. "I don't usually pay much attention to the gossip columns, usually they're either blown out of proportion or reveal something that isn't anyone's business anyway. There are so much better things to do with my time." Like sit here and worry about my own relationships Anna hoped she didn't come off as high-and-mighty, she just really never cared for most gossip.

Gabby smiled, "I know what you mean, the only reason I actually buy the paper is because I write for it too, I'm the Agony Aunt". Gabby looked up at the sun, it was so warm and inviting, she decided she might go for a swim in a bit.
