Even though Emma had been accepted into the school a year or so ago, she'd had a few family problems shortly after being accepted and hadn't been able to take up her place at the school until now. Having just arrived, she didn't know anyone or even her way around the school so, after spending the morning unpacking her suitcases, she struggled in finding her way out of the castle.
As it was a nice day, she thought it would be a good opportunity to explore the grounds and leave the inside of the castle for a more miserable day. Leaving the confines of the castle at last after half an hour or so of trying to find her way out of it, she was met with the glorious sight of the forest and lake.
Smiling, she decided relaxing by the lake may just be what she needed right now and maybe a swim after. Walking towards it slowly, she made sure to take in the sights as she did so and promised herself that she was going to have a good first day at the school.
The water of the lake was tempting but she knew it would be better to relax first and swim later, she didn't want to be too worn out while it was still early so she found herself a nice, quiet spot on the bank although there were no other students in sight.

Gabby was walking down by the waters edge when she saw someone sitting. She didn't know who she was so she grew closer.
"Hi. I'm Gabby, are you new here. I don't think I've met you before?"
Gabby waited for a reply, hoping that she would be welcome here.
((Do you run Hogwarts for Eternity? I just joined and got myself sorted))

(Yeah, that'd be me. Eloise and Julius are admins on there as well)
Glancing out over the water, Emma couldn't help but admire the view. It had been a long time since she had seen anything anywhere near as breathtaking. Hearing a sound behind her apparently coming from the forest, she spun round but couldn't see anything through the dense forest.
Hearing someone speak, she turned back and saw a younger girl looking down at her. "Hi Gabby. No, you're the first person I've seen and its nice to meet you," she said and smiled as she looked up at the girl. "I'm Emma. Would you care to sit down?" she asked.

"Thanks," Gabby took a sit next to Emma. "So have you only just arrived? I haven't been back long myself. I'm a 3rd year gryffindor." Gabby paused, knowing that she could just talk for hours if anyone let her.

"You're welcome," Emma said as she watched Gabby sit down next to her. "Yeah. I got a letter years ago but a lot of things happened and I've only just got her. I'm a sixth year Hufflepuff," she explained.
She didn't really want to go into what had happened with her family and she wouldn't unless really pushed. Unlike the majority of people, she wasn't one who liked to burden others with her problems and preferred to keep them bottled up rather than share them.

Gabby sensed that was a bit of a sensitive subject so she started on another topic.
"Have you chosen your classes yet? There are so many to choose from yet so little time, they havent started yet but it's worth thinking about."

Glad that Gabby had realized she didn't want to talk about why she had been away if she could help it, she was more than happy to let the subject be changed. Breathing out a small sigh of relief, she looked out over the lake as Gabby asked her question.
"I haven't done yet but I'm thinking about taking Animagi if its running, Care of Magical Creatures, History of Magic and maybe a couple of others but I don't know for sure yet," she explained before turning back to look at Gabby. "How about you?" she asked.

Gabby looked round, "Oh, I've out my name down for pretty much anything, except Animagi since I'm not old enough, I'm only a third year? what year are you in?"
