It was just one of those days that just seemed confusing, not confusing enough to put much of a damper on Gwenhwyfar's attitude but enough to keep her mind going back to it over and over again. She pulled the letter her brother had sent her out of the pocket of her cloak and reread it...
...Father's been visiting with quite a few of the most prominent wizarding families, he's even accompanied mother on quite a few occasions, and he thinks a few of the families might actually have a son that would do pretty nicely.
He didn't say anything else about it, do nicely for what exactly. She would simply have to ask him what he was talking about. She took out a piece of paper and began to write down a simple message.

Chase entered the owlery with a bored, almost swaggering step, a hastily-tied scroll in his right hand. He'd finally gotten the token letter from home, and here he was, sending a token letter back. It wasn't much, never was, but it gave his parents enough fuel to pretend they were doing a decent job.
He'd intended to just give the scroll to a school owl and take off, but the owlery had a guest. She was the kind of girl that still stopped him in his path, though he'd gotten into the habit of denying himself. Still...Chase's gaze slipped reflexively over her while she was distracted by writing.

After finishing up her short and question filled letter she went to one of the owls and tied it to his leg, Brac would get back to her quickly, or at least she hoped so. It was only after sending the owl on its way that she turned around and noticed that she wasn't exactly alone, she wondered for a moment how long he had been there for...not that it mattered he could have been there for a while and she wouldn't have noticed. She had a tendency to be oblivious when she was thinking and in most other cases as well. "Hello, how are you?" She said sweetly smiling over to the boy.

Chase's eyes rose to the girl's face, one brow rising a fraction at the sunny innocence of her question. How are you? A hundred replies vied for dominance, but at the last, he simply answered, "As good as it gets, all things considered." Considering his nonexistent home life, and the stagnant state of his personal life. Chase resisted the ever-present urge to move closer, but the desire still showed in gleaming red-brown eyes.

"As good as it gets, all things considered." Was that a good thing or a bad thing, it seemed to be a bit negative. "What things?" She hadn't really meant to say it out loud but it happened, things like that actually happened quite a lot with her. "Well I do hope that it gets better." She liked it when people were happy much more then other wise, it just made the world a much better place.

I wish. Unfortunately, things didn't look like they'd be getting better for quite a while. "Just life," he answered. He shook his head slightly, sending his hair moving against his neck. He paused a moment before looking at the girl again. "Are you new here?" Maybe she didn't know about all the drama.

Gwenhwyfar nodded her head in response "Yes, my mother and father thought I needed socialization." Well that was a part of it mostly she figured now that Brac wasn't ever at home and what with her parents spending a lot of the fall and spring seasons visiting or with business or just plain busy they decided that she would be happier and better off at school. But the socialization answer was the one her parents had first given so she figured that was the one she was supposed to give.

Chase's brows rose in unison. It was everything he could do not to grin wickedly and move in for the hunt. He put a firm picture of Dru in his mind as a shield. But she needs socialization, temptation whispered in his ear. Chase took up a comfortable pose, booted feet spread, his mind holding Dru even as it tried to push her aside. "So how's the socialization been going?" he asked innocently.

Gwenhwyfar shrugged "I guess its going pretty well, I mean I've met people and stuff. I really don't know." In truth she wasn't sure what her parents meant by socialization, they never gave her a clear definition. She started twirling a strand of hair around her finger, it was a habit that she had picked up when she was thinking about something. "What does socialization actually mean." She couldn't believe she hadn't asked her parents before, but before she hadn't realized that she didn't know what it meant.

God save me, Chase groaned inwardly. He wanted to show her his own particular brand of socialization, but Dru kept intruding. All the same, he couldn't seem to walk away. Chase's feet moved of their own volition, bringing him too close to the girl, within arms' reach. "Met anyone interesting?" he asked. Dru. He was holding her as a talisman, and wondering, as he had from the beginning, how long that talisman would last.

It didn't take that long for Gwenhwyfar to think back over the people that she had met, or at least the ones that she had actually talked to instead of just seeing them in class or something like that. "Well there was these two girls, Storm and Gabby, they were pretty interesting." It seemed like he hadn't really answered her question unless meeting interesting people was what he considered socialization.

Chase nearly winced. Storm. She was an open sore, as far as he was concerned. She'd hurt him, but then, he'd hurt her, too. "Did you talk to them much?" If it was out of character for Chase to ask such a question, he didn't notice. His thoughts had shifted from the danger of the hunt to possibly finding out how Storm was doing without him.

Gwen just shook her head "No I think she was trying her hardest to avoid Gabby and be a part of what we were doing without actually having to participate...I don't think that her likes Gabby very much, or even the other way around, you know. It's actually kind of sad." She still wished she knew what had made Storm the way that she was but also knew that unless Storm opened up nothing was going to be discovered.

Chase nodded. He knew Storm wanted to belong, even if she convinced herself otherwise. But that wasn't his secret to tell. "Where did you see her...them?" he corrected himself. He didn't want it to get around that he was asking about her, even if he was. "Quidditch Pitch?" he guessed. He thought back to the time he'd met with Storm there, when everything had felt like it was going just right. And then it had fallen apart.

Gwen couldn't believe that he was that good at guessing but then again he had been gong to this school longer then she had so he had to have some sort of inside information that she didn't "Well we met in the corridors but then we went to the Pitch almost right away." She wondered why he was being so curious but only for a moment because sooner or later everything she wondered got blurted out and this time it happened to be sooner "Why? I mean do you like her, you know, Storm." Even she wasn't oblivious enough to notice that as soon as Storm's name had come up he had started asking questions about her. She almost wondered if the two of them were dating but then why wouldn't he know this stuff.
