Storm had left the girls dorm unable to sleep once again and stood at the edge of the lake. She sat at the edge of the lake pulling out her wand making different colored sparks erupt from the tip. She looked around the lake seemed empty but a feeling that she was being watched made her turn once again her eyes scanning the grounds before accepting the fact that she might as well have been alone.

Chase was leaning back against a tree not far off, lost in the shadows. He'd been watching the moonlight on the water, just brooding maybe, but he'd heard the girl approach. He wasn't surprised that she didn't see him, only that he recognized her. Storm. He hadn't exactly left her on the best terms. Still, there was no sense burning bridges, especially considering she was in his House. Chase stepped away from the tree and headed toward the edge of the lake, making no attempt to hide the crunch of leaves and dirt beneath his boots. "You know there's a curfew," he said, the mocking tone in his voice more for himself than the girl. They were both out late, after all.

Storm sighed and as she heard someone walking towards her she perked up and turned towards the source she smiled. “And hello to you too Firebrand.” She said rolling her eyes a smirk forming on her lips. “Yes, but I find that breaking the curfew if more fun then actually sticking to it.” She said an amused look on her face. “Now really tell my why are you out so late, I’m sure you have your reasons as I do.” She said standing up as she hated having to look up to people.

"Yeah, I have my reasons," Chase said. He left it at that. Storm had made no move to tell him why she was out, so he assumed it was for the same reason he was--chronic insomnia. He only slept a few hours most nights, and that left him several hours with little to do. "I don't break curfew, I ignore it completely. I figure it's more of a guideline to keep first-years from getting lost on the grounds."

She smiled and only nodded. "You know when I look at first years it's almost hard to believe that 5 years ago I was that small." she said a smile forming on her lip. "When you think about it each year they seem to be getting dumber and dumber I'm positive I wasn't like that." she said pursing her lips together, she didn't feel like talking about the past at the moment and instead looked towards him oddly Storm seemed to be more serious at that moment and grinned and Chanse.

"Only a fool is positive," Chase said, reciting from something his father had told him a hundred times. Of course, his father had also told him that the way to a girl's heart was a hefty sack of Galleons, so he ignored most of what the man said. Who wanted someone's heart anyway? Chase felt Storm looking at him, and he looked right back, wondering at her thoughts. The sudden grin on her face pulled him out of his own thoughts, and he grinned back, wolfishly. "You know it's dangerous out after dark," he said, just loud enough for Storm to hear him.

She rolled her eyes at him before turning back towards the lake the moon reflecting on her pale skin she shut her eyes and spoke in a soft voice. "I embrace danger, the truth is why fear it when it sometimes opens your mind to what the real world holds." she opened her eyes looking at his grin and feeling the corners of her lips twitch into her own grin.

Chase nodded in agreement. He'd rather face danger any day than sit in a safe corner not living at all. He wanted to go out in a blaze of glory. Not just yet, but some day. "The real world doesn't exist," Chase said at last. "There's no such thing unless you convince yourself there is." He looked out at the water as one of the giant squid's tentacles moved lazily across the surface. "There's nothing but right now."

She smiled looking at him and nodded. "Then how do you feel right now?" she asked inching closer to him studying him more closely. “Because when I think about it sometimes I feel… lost.” She said the last part quietly feeling slightly foolish she looked up at the moon again enjoying the scenery of the night.

Somehow, Storm's words felt like a confession, like something more intimate than the kiss they'd shared in the corridor. He thought about lying, telling her that he didn't think about it, just lived it, but it wasn't true. He thought about it all too much. He lived for now, but what was now, anyway? And what could he do to make it feel like less of a waste? Chase looked at the girl beside him. The moonlight made her skin glow, and her dark hair only emphasized the mirage that she was somehow not real. A ghost, perhaps. Or maybe it was the tone of her voice when she seemed close to speaking about the past that made it seem that way. Somehow, the quiet was as comfortable now as it had been when he'd been alone.

She looked over at him and didn't speak, but her eyes shone and she knew that they would speak for her; she was glad that she didn't have to be reserved with him as she usually was with others and was subconsciously thanking him. Storm didn't feel like she needed to speak and this time she would listen enjoying how the breeze rippled her hair. Get annoyed by the silence she then broke in. "So other then mind games what else do you find fun?" she asked a grin forming on her lips.

Chase's smile was more than a bit devious. "Hunting," he said, though he didn't specify what it was he liked to hunt. It should be obvious enough by now. Of course, his favorite hunt went hand-in-hand with mind games. "What do you do for fun, besides tripping first-years?"

Vannah stumpled up the hill super-drunkedly, clutching a bottle of her mystery juice. "....KILL, KILL. THEY'RE FALLING APART AT MY FEET!" Vannah yelled. She took a swig from her bottle. "KILL, KILL. THESE ARE THE LIVES I LOVE TO END....." She yelled more. After another long drink Vannah saw two shadows near by. She stumpled over them and peered at the shadowy figure of Storm. "Chase? Is that you?" She asked looking closer. "You grew your hair out fast. I liked it better before." She said laughing. Vannah took another swig from her bottle before she started yelling the chorus over again.

Chase caught Vannah around her shoulders before she knocked him over, or stumbled on her own feet. He could smell the alcohol on her, though it was easy enough to tell she was drunk by the way she was slurring her words. She was obviously too drunk to tell a 6th year girl from a 7th year boy, but he wondered why in her drunken state she was talking to him. "I'm up here," Chase said to Vannah.

Vannah turned and almost fell down the hill, but she caught herself. "Chase? Is that you?" She asked. "But you're over here." She said pointing to Storm. "How'dya get up there so quick?" Vannah asked. She drained her bottle. "Aw, man. It's empty!" She said looking inside of it.
