Afternoon Studies (Open)

[Gabby Brocklehurst]

"Thanks," Gaby said smiling at Reed. "you don't know how good it feels to have someone actually be nice to you for once," Gabby said relaxing.

[Reed Brennan]

"I'm sure I'm not the only one." Reed said offering a warm smile. "There are others, I'm sure, like your boyfriend. If he wasn't nice to you, I'd question the relationship." Reed's eyes narrowed a little. "He is good to you, right? Nothing abusive of anything like that..." She added as a precaution.

[Gabby Brocklehurst]

"No no," Gaby quickly assured Reed, "Ryan's great to me, treats me like a princess. I meant like a friend, girls. There is a hufflepuff who I'm friends with, she's lovely but I haven't seen her recently." Gabby sighed, everything here was so complicated.

[Reed Brennan]

"That's great. My brother's in Hufflepuff. Though he's not quite as outgoing as most of them..." Reed joked. She was always picking on his brother. She was the athletic one and he was the creative one. Together they were a perfect match and apart they were lost.

[Gabby Brocklehurst]

"Jesse?", Gabby asked, she had thought someting about Reed was vaguely familiar. Gabby looked around the library to see if anyone else was there. Outside it was a nice sunny day and Gabby wondered why Reed was shut away in here, but she didn't want to pry.

[Reed Brennan]

"Er...yeah." Reed said confusedly. "How did you know?" The question Reed wanted were ask went something like: Have you seen him? How is he? Did he say anytihng about me?, but she knew that would only lead to more questions she didn't want to answer. Reed tugged on the sleeves of her long sleeved shirt and hoped that her face wasn't red from the heat.

"I met him a few nights ago in the corridor. And before that I helped him out when he got caught up with those slytherins i mentioned earlier." Gabby could tell that Reed was eaged to get information about Jesse.

[Reed Brennan]

Reed laughed. "Yeah, that sounds like him. Always getting into messes he can't get out of." She laughed so hard, a pain shot through her mid-abdomin. Her hand immediately clutched her stomach and part of her sleeve rode up revealing the edge of a big, dark bruise. Reed hadn't noticed.

Gabby was shocked by the bruise on Reed's arm and she loked like she was in pain. ganny got up and was at her side, "Are you ok?" Gabby asked anxiously, "Can I help at all, a drink anything?" Gabby was disturbed by what had happened, Reed had seemed fine and then this terrible bruise had been revealed, what else was she hiding. "You can trust me you know," Gabby said softly.

It was then that Reed felt a cool breeze on her arm and abruptly pulled her sleeve back down her hand. "I am fine, honestly." She said forcing a smile. She wasn't sure exactly what Gabby had seen, but she hoped it wasn't anything big. She debated whether or not to tell Gabby, and she felt like she owed it to her. After all, Gabby had spilled out to her it was only polite to return the favor. She was also sure the girl would want an explanation, and Reed admitted that she felt she could trust Gabby.

Gabby could tell Reed was trying to decide what to do. gabby offered Reed a friendly smile. "Anything you tell me will stay between us, I won't tell anyone else." Gabby said quietly. She looked at Reed hoping she would feel secure enough to confide in Gabby.

Reed sighed. "Okay," she decided. "It's a long story, but about 6 years ago I was diagnosed with a sever case of Leukemia, which is a type of cancer, which is a muggle disease mostly without a true cure. I got over it and have been in remission for 3 and half years. A couple of months ago, I began to develop these bruises. At first I thought it was from the running, flying, and Quidditch. But then they became to get bigger and darker and I knew it was from something much more serious. I didn't want to think about it too much, but soon enough it became too evident to ignore. Before I was first diagnosed, one of the symptoms were these bruises that only got worse and appeared for no real reason. I have been avoiding Jess because I know when he finds out he'll freak out and try to get me to go back to my chemotherapy, which is a type of medication when you are injected with chemicals to kill the cancer cells." Reed finished. She knew that maybe it would seem that she needed help, but she refused it.

Gabby processed all the information Reed was giving her. Gabby thought about what to say for a minute. "How long have you had these bruises and how many have you got?" Gabby asked. She was a little unsure about everything. She had heard of the cancer before but she had never met anyone with it. She sensed that reed was proud nad that all she wanted was someone to listen to her and help her forget it for a while without telling her what to do.

"Only a couple of months and I'm not sure." Reed said. She rolled up her sleeve slightly revealing a part of one. "Don't worry. They aren't nearly as painful as they look." She said with a smile.

Gabby felt that a bond had been formed between them, they knew each other's secrets and so were now immdeiately close. Gabby hoped that Reed felt the same way. "So what are you doing in here then?" Gabby asked, partially changing the subject.
