Trying to Think

Emilian smiled at Adara and took her hand, trying not to show that he wished Michael had never even come to Hogwarts, and trying not to smirk at the other girl dropping her book. "Actually, we've spoken twice. His father was so angry when he got Michael's letter that he had changed sides, I had to tell him." As he spoke to Annabelle, he took a step closer to Adara.

Adara's heart swelled even as her body tensed. For a moment, her mind was whirling far too quickly to hear a thing, and especially to think of what Anna might be thinking. "Michael is lucky to have such a good friend," she said to Emilian. He must be the protector, the warrior she had first thought him. Her eyes were gleaming with affection.

[Annabelle Hennessy]

Annabelle couldn't take it anymore. "Adara." She called, waiting for her to turn toward her. "I've been wanting you to meet Michael, why don't you come with me so you finally can?" She looked pleadingly at Adara, showing how much she wanted her friend to come with her.

The very last thing Emilian wanted was for Adara to talk to Michael. He would almost rather she talked to Savannah. What could he say to make her stay? For once, his mind was a blank. He looked down into Adara's eyes, slightly surprised at the emotion obvious in them. "If you want to go and see him," he said, running a finger lightly along her jaw, "I won't stop you." He made it obvious in his voice, though, that he didn't want her to leave.

Adara could feel a shock starting at the touch of his finger, running down her spine and lodging in her abdomen. She had to drag her gaze away from Emilian even to throw a pleading glance at Anna. She wanted to go with her, but if Emilian needed her...She couldn't seem to think, to even form an opinion when he was touching her. She was sure that she had never felt like this before.

[Annabelle Hennessy]

"Please Adara?" Annabelle resorted to begging. "He'll be so disappointed that he didn't get to meet my friend if you don't come. I really want you to meet him." Annabelle tried to convince Adara that she should come. "It means a lot to me for my friends to know each other, I'd really like him to know who you are."

[Emilian Sota]

"I could introduce you to him if you don't want to leave just yet," Emilian said, keeping his eyes trained on Adara. He didn't take his hand from her jawline. He had told the truth when he said he wouldn't stop her, he wouldn't physically stop her, just try to influence her to stay with him.

[Adara Snow]

"Of course I don't want to leave," Adara said, her eyes pleading. "But...couldn't you come too?" She didn't want to leave Emilian, but neither did she want Annabelle to be unhappy. It was so difficult to think with the way he looked at her, impossible to pull away.

[Annabelle Hennessy]

"Oh good idea Adara!" Annabelle turned to Emilian, trying to make her smile look as innocent as possible. "Since you and Michael are such old friends, I'm sure he'd love to see you too. Won't you join us?" She exagerated Emilian's words, using them to her bennefit. If her suspisions of Emilian were correct, Michael probably wouldn't want to see him, but she thought Michael would understand why she'd invited him.

Emilian's eyes darkened slightly at Annabelle. He had worked himself into a sort of a hole. He could always say he needed to go, but it would be easily dispelled as a lie because of his earlier want for Adara to stay with him. He had no choice. Looking back down at Adara and giving a large smile he said, "Of course I'll come with you."

Adara's lips spread into a smile that lit up her entire face. "Thank you, Emilian!" she said, eyes shining. She squeezed his hand lightly, then turned back to Annabelle. "We're ready, Anna!" As they headed back down the corridor, Adara thought that life could not possibly be happier than it was right now.
