"Not really, I know where the books I need are, I'm going to get them and take them to the club with me." Dru tried to keep her eyes locked on him, but they kept drifting to the girls until they turned a corner. "It'll take maybe ten minutes?" That is, if the librarian's at the counter.

"I'll go with you," Chase offered. His gaze followed Dru's back to the girls, none of whom he knew. "What is it?" he asked. Chase's jaw tightened a fraction as his best guess filtered into his mind. He'd told her he wasn't seeing anyone else. She'd better believe him, or what good did it do?

Dru shook her head, "Nothing, some people don't like me." She took his hand and walked down the corridor. She had no doubt they had heard about them, every little bit of drama spread through the school like wildfire. "I've heard there's rumors going around about that night Grey walked in on us."

Chase's lips curved into a wicked grin. "What kind of rumors?" he asked, his voice low and taunting. "That we were caught in the act? That he had to pry you off me?" His eyes shone bright with the tease. "Is it really a rumor if it's true?" His grin only widened.

Dru grinned, "Something along those lines." The rumors got on her nerves, but the way he handled it helped her smile about it. "Some of the rumors are saying we did more than we actually did." She linked her fingers in his. Of course, if they kept going like they were, it wouldn't be a rumor much longer.

Chase shrugged. "People think what they want." He'd neither confirm nor deny. It was nobody's business but theirs. Chase adjusted his hand around Dru's, somewhat surprised at the almost comfortable feel of holding hands. It wasn't something people did unless they were close, and when had he ever been close to someone? He turned his mind away from the confusion and back toward the fun of rumors. "Do you ever wonder how much people will believe?" he asked, the crimson shine in his eyes saying quite clearly that his thought didn't end there.

Dru smiled up at him. "Yeah, honestly. I've never really been the butt of rumors like that." Her smile turned to a grin, "Of course, if you have your way, they won't exactly be rumors anymore." She wondered for a few seconds if that was all he thought about, or if he ever had any deeper thoughts. She assumed he did, he had to, no one was that narrow minded, where they?

Chase gave a low chuckle, but didn't rise to the bait. He wasn't quite sure yet if talking about it would make her more eager, like it did him, or give her enough humor on the subject to buffer her from it. "So you've never started a rumor about yourself," he guessed, "just to see if people would believe it?"

Dru creased her eyebrows at him, "No, never felt the need to. Have you?" She had never heard of anyone doing such a thing, why would they want to? Her luck they'd all believe her and when they found out it was fake they'd all hate her.

Chase gave Dru a devilish grin, his eyes gleaming wickedly in reply. "Do you really have to ask?" He'd been to more schools than he could count on one hand. He'd experimented once in a while. It kept him from getting bored.

Dru laughed, "Ok, ok. I'm normally one of those people that sit in the corner and watch the rumors destroy the people I don't like, rather than dealing with ones about me." Granted, she had started some of those rumors, but then again, most of the ones she started were true.

"Rumors don't destroy you unless you let them." Chase flicked a glance at Dru. "Take us. If we run off every time someone stares, they think the worst, we start hiding and stop living, they win. We ignore the rumors, or better yet feed the rumors," he suggested, his lips curving into a mischievous smirk, "all they can do is wonder."

Dru looked down, thinking over what Chase said. "I guess I care more about what people think than what I'd admit." After a moment she looked back up at him, watching his face. "So, are we going to be, ah, feeding, these rumors?" she asked, matching his grin.

Chase's grin only widened. "If you're up to it," he said, more than a hint of challenge in his voice. One hand slid casually down Dru's back to settle in her rear pocket, as though it belonged there. He kept walking, his face innocent, though his eyes gleamed.

Dru grinned as she matched his movement. It felt, she was surprised to realize, right, like it was how they were supposed to be. She wanted to move in closer to him, but knew it would make walking awkward. "Well I suppose, just so long as you keep your limits," she said, looking up at him.
