Talking about my birthday to my boyfriend, who told me he couldn't get the day off after all. This was after my parents told me they didn't what to do what I had wanted. So I told everyone I couldn't care less and I'm going to do bugger all.

I'm really sick this week, that's why I haven't been in to work, but I've got a doctor's appointment, so I ought to be fine by Monday.
Right. The doctor's appointment isn't in regards to something easily guessable and I'm not telling anyone at work about my... let's call it a condition (and no, not pregnancy, physically impossible, that). I've been home hating my life or sleeping, with the exception of Tuesday, on which I went to a concert which was an extremely late birthday present.
Anyhow, all better now and ready for Monday! (and now that's the last lie I told)

[rant] Nothing I can think of, but I'm about to do some serious lying today. I'm going back to work after two weeks of calling in. I consider my reason for missing to be completely legitimate, however, many people (especially those I work with) are firm believers that if you've got any kind of disability, you shouldn't be working there, even if a) it's difficult to be accepted for legal disability b) you wouldn't get enough money to live on anyway c) you're perfectly intelligent and not incapable of working, therefore wouldn't get legal disability d) you're young and physically healthy e) *goes on and on and on*
Anyhow, here's my story: I've been very sick. The kind that knocks you out on the couch for a week and you're lucky if you can get up to feed yourself. I finally gave up and went to the doctor on Friday and she gave me a prescription and some recommendations, and I've got a follow-up in three weeks. I'm already feeling marginally better, as shown by my presence here. Please, please, please don't fire me because I desperately need this job, and even more, I need to use it as a reference for my future resume!!!

I'm going to work on the assignments at home because I don't have my flash drive on me.
It wasn't a COMPLETE lie....I really didn't have it on me. But I wanted to leave, and I knew I wouldn't work on the homework when I got home. I could have stayed and gone to the resource center and emailed myself whatever I did, but I didn't want or need to do it there with the professor standing around watching us.

Update: I didn't need my whole spiel of a speech. The two people who actually noticed I'd been gone were just concerned and wanted to make sure I was doing better, and the one who hadn't known but got told took about a third of my story. "I was very sick but I went to the doctor." He may have asked if it was the flu and I may have nodded, but that was it. *mild relief*
