Vannah decided to come into Hogsmeade with the reast of the class. Unlike the rest of the class, she loitered around the Shrieking Shack.....one of the very rare good places in Hogsmeade. For one reason or another, she found comfort in the Shrieking Shack, well at least when she was alone. Vannah was nearly never alone, but she was also never with anybody worth her time. Over the past few days, Vannah had gone back to her usual bitter mood. She hated herself for believing she could trust someone. She thought she has learned her lesson. Vannah stared at the Skrieking Shack, l ost in her pitying thoughts as a gray snow started to fall around her.

Ryan stood just outside of the Shrieking Shack knowing that Vannah had gone in there. He had missed her alot since their fight and was trying to decide if he should go in and try to fix things between them, he felt wrong without her.

Vannah walked out slowly, savoring it's beauty. She was about to walk one way when she saw Ryan standing there looking at the entranceway. Without trying to make herself noticed, Vannah started to turn to walk the other way.

Ryan heard a board creak near the door and decided that he was going in. He walked through the front door and saw Vannah walking away, "Vannah wait" he said.

Vannah rolled her eyes and sped up her pace. "Leave me alone, [Magby[/i]." She said irritated. So much for her comfort. Vannah was now walking up a snowy path to lower mountains.

Ryan followed her still trying to catch up to her, here was his weakness. When it came to a situation like this he kept trying and usually made it worse... "Vannah please just talk to me, what I said in the Room of Requirement was not trying to hurt you or anything."

Vannah stopped abruptly and turned sharply. "Don't apologize, Ryan." She said heatedly. "You only made me realize how stupid I was to actually trust someone, let alone you." Vannah was being nasty and bitter.

"Why should I trust you?" Vannah shot back. "I was foolish Ryan. I should've known better." She said a bit harshly.

Ryan looked at Vannah "Because I really do like you. Vannah I know what its like to be hurt by someone, I would never do that to you. The time I have spent with you I have been more happy that I had been in almost 2 years, but without you Im nothing. I can barely eat, I cant sleep, all I do is think of how much I miss you. Im not a bad person, not to people I like at least. Please Vannah" he finished weakly and looked at her with tears dropping from his eyes.

Vannah shook her head and sighed. "Ryan...don't." She said hearing the strong plea in his voice. She actually felt guilty. "You don't need me Ryan. You need someone who can be there always. Not me." She said, with sympathy in her eyes. "You need someone you can be with and lean on. Someone who will hold you up and take care of you." Vannah said trying not to show the pain she was feeling. She's never found it to be this hard, but then again she's never actually loved someone before. But she knew she had to. She didn't want to hurt him----worse. "Not me." Vannah repeated. They said there was always someone in the relationship who loves more....she wish she knew who.

Ryan looked at Vannah with tears in his eyes and weakly said "I cant be with anyone else but you, I couldnt get you out of my mind." he said closing his eyes "I cant be with anyone else" he repeated softly.

Vannah walked over to him. "You can." She said softly. "It's hard, but I know you can." She wiped his tears with her hand and pressed it against his cheek. "I can't give you what you're looking for." Her voice broke as she said, though she tried hard to prevent it. "I'm not like that."

Ryan gentally put his hand on Vannah's "Yes you can Vannah. If you wanted to be with me you can be like that, and since you havent stormed off yet I can tell that part of you is feeling something."

Vannah slid her hand away as a tear slid down her cheek. "No, Ryan, I can't! That's exactly what I was trying to tell you the other day!" She blurted out. "I've tried and it didn't work. Over and over again. I just can't!" She turned around and started walk back up the path.
