Matthew shifted to lean against the bar sideways as he thought. His pale eyes surveyed the room, and he spoke as he thought. "You'll have to introduce me to that drink some time, I've been known to play some damn fun drinking games," he said. They may be immature and somehow American, but they were fun. "Make a waffle cone." The smile that was so common on his lips became a grin. Sometimes they would let people give it a try, especially on slow days; it seemed to be a great way to bring people in again.

"It will be another adventure for another time," while Aline didn't have a high tolerance when it came to liquor she could never say no to Oghi.
His challenge was unexpected and she couldn't even hide her temporary moment of fear from the burning hot contraption which looked like it would snap at her fingers. Aline finished her ice cream slowly using the time to try and remember how he did it. When a drip of ice cream remained on her index finger she made a motion to slowly lick it off never once breaking eye contact. "Fine," she could do this.
Aline circled around to the waffle cone maker pausing to look over at him and smirk. Aline pulled out her wand and as she muttered charms the batter flew into the waffle maker and then close. When it was done she charmed it to roll itself and then it flew over to him. She was suppressing her giggles. "You never specified with or without magic," because finding loopholes was fun.

Matthew chuckled and nodded. "You got me there," he said. "Not the perfect roll, but it passes." In fact, he might as well use it. Samples of the ice cream happened often, he really didn't think anyone could get tired of ice cream, but the cones were usually a step above what he could do. "Half the people I've hired have been too scared to get anywhere near the thing without me standing over their shoulder."

Aline tipped her head proud of her not perfectly rolled waffle, but for her first time she was proud of her charm work in such an odd application. "Well half the people you've hired probably lack intelligence, they forget they have wands?" The only exception would be squibs, but that was different and she couldn't blame anyone for being terrified of the waffle cone maker if it wasn't for magic she wouldn't have dared approached it at all. "Or people just want an excuse to be around you," and she flashed him a wide smile.

"Oh, well, naturally people just love being around me," Matthew said with another grin. "But no, they aren't allowed to use magic for it. My husband's a muggle, you see? So we really kind of try to encourage people to mix magic and muggle things here." The end result was that the jerks and lowlifes didn't visit and the shop was instead filled with generally good people. Who, of course, wanted to be around him. Who wouldn't?

While she was surprised that not only was he married to a man, but also a muggle, it didn't really bother her. It was not something she was used to, but she wasn't against it. Who was she to judge another person because of who they fall in love with? "Where I'm from wizards and witches would find the concept of your shop odd. I think it just makes it special," besides, what type of person would she be if she treated this man any different after how kind he had been to her. "Those people are missing out on a good soul," and she appreciated that. No matter how 'manipulative she could be Aline had a good heart; even in her means could be somewhat misplaced. "Since I'm here it's a perfect opportunity to the world without the taboo lingering back home."

Matthew scooped up a grab bag of various flavors while she spoke. "A lot of people around here find my shop odd, too, then they realize we have internet and waffle cones," he said. "Spreading the love, one ice cream at a time." It was only when he finally turned back to face her that he realized he didn't know her name. "I'm Matthew Moreau, by the way."

She made a confused face when he mentioned the word 'internet'. What the hell was he talking about? Was it another, she assumed, muggle object? Whatever it was, now she was interested. "Inter what?"
At the introduction she felt foolish. What type of proper lady forgot to introduce herself. Well, perhaps it didn't really matter with him. "Aline Saroyan, a pleasure to meet you Mr. Moreau," she did a small tip of her head, a curtsey was excessive in this situation. Returning to his previous point on ice cream "I love the concept of love and let me say my ice cream love is a physical manifestation of that," because only someone insane could hate ice cream. "You can't trust someone who hates ice cream, wouldn't you agree," it was a joke which was obvious in her tone, but the contrast with her serious looking face would come off as a comical effect.

"I like to think my own ice cream is a phyiscal manifestation of that," Matthew said with a grin and a wink. "What's worse than people who just don't like ice cream are those who love it but refuse to come here because my shop is what it is. That's a hell of a pathetic lot. You'll have to come in more often to make up for their refusal to visit." Another wink.

Aline laughed and playfully tapped his shoulder pretending to hit him. "Do you thrive on making statements you might regret? If I come here too much you'll have angry customers because everything is all gone," not that it was possible. Her physique was small and her stomach could only handle so much ice cream, but if it was up to her she would live in the creamy treat. "Is the divide between magical and non-magical people that bad here in the UK?" she couldn't imagine that such a large population of people, and wizards, would have such a prominent amount of bias. If anything she thought it would just be within the pureblood circles whereas others would be indifferent.

"The divide...is less than it was before," Matthew said carefully, looking down at his slowly melting ice cream. He was always amazed that, however much he ate, it always seemed to melt faster than he could keep up with. "In the end, it really just depends on what group you're a part of." And if said group was willing to drag you out of prejudice. He had always hated purebloods, and only through interacting with Dare and Michael, and their friends, had he been able to move past it.

“Hate will never disappear. It’s as much a part of society as love and acceptance,” not that she was never one of the former. There was a time, when she was younger, when she wasn’t open minded. When she was influenced by the very society that refused to give her and her father a place among its ranks. It wasn’t until she was more active in her father’s work did she start to see beyond the borders of Armenia. Even now, there were things that surprised her, such as this shop, but it never deterred her from learning more. “I hope you found a group that accepts you.”

"I've always been open about who I am," Matthew said, "so I'm lucky enough to have a pretty decent group. If you're interested, I could invite you out with us sometime. Just know it's mostly gay and bi men." He'd invited people out with the group fairly regularly, but usually no one joined in often enough to really become part of the group. "Americans, Society pureblood types, an Aussie whenever he's visiting, we've got a lot of people from a lot of backgrounds."

Aline’s ears perked at the mention of society purebloods. If her father was there, he’d give her that look to go for it and how could she refuse? Their family was nothing more than a financial convenience in the wizarding world. They held no titles and were not considered a part of society’s inner circle, which could be frustrating. The number of Armenian purebloods in the highest tier of society could be counted on one hand. If anything, it was the Russian families that dominated those circle structures. If she were going to do what she came to the UK to do, then she would have to inject herself into a strong social structure. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she shrugged. “That doesn’t bother me,” besides she was there to learn about a new and different lifestyle she might as well adhere to the inclusion in this part of the wizarding world. “And remind me to bring plenty of bottles of oghi, it is the least I can do.”

Matthew laughed, "I'll be sure to. We meet up all sorts of places, clubs, parks, homes, whatever is most convenient. This summer we spent weeks at one of the guys' place partying and cleaning it up, it was brilliant." The fact that the party has included a horrible attack and a death didn't need to be brought up. "Needless to say, we know how to party when we need to."
