Abigail hadn't left until Storm was asleep in a hospital bed. Chase had thanked the Healer and pulled the curtain before sitting. There were active Aurors in the castle, so things were being looked into even without Storm's input, and the body had been moved. His office was off-limits to all but a certain few. He'd sent an owl home telling Carolynn that there was a crisis at the school and he couldn't go into further detail about it.
He'd prepare a statement for the press as soon as he knew something, but until then, all he could do was wait.

As she slept she dreamt, but her dreams made no sense she just knew she was scared. Caius' eyes glaring down at her and her mother's cold unseeing eyes. Nothing made sense she just knew that there was something wrong. When her eyes slowly opened she was confused brows furrowed in frustration where was she? Was she at St.Mungo's? No, this was familiar. Hogwarts, why was she in Hogwarts? It took another minute before her memories slowly returned there was her father and she got hurt and then... "Mother...," Storm tried to sit up, her voice was so weak so faint and her body ached. She wanted to scream out for her mother, she wanted to curse her father she was so many emotions in that moment that her head spun and she had to shut her eyes once more everything was a lie.
Storm could feel him there, but she couldn’t believe any of this was real. It wasn’t true she was dreaming again and she’d wake in bed beside an idiot in the comfort of her home. Storm reached a hand to touch Chase’s; he was warm and he was there how could any of this not be real? “Where’s my mother.” she croaked it was barely above a whisper she felt so physically tired, but her mind was in a state of alert. Storm needed to hear it she needed confirmation that what she dreamed was real.

"Don't get up," Chase said softly. "You've been badly injured." He pulled a breath to center himself, put aside deep thoughts and the desire to ask her what had happened. That would come soon enough. "Your mother didn't survive. She's being held until we find out enough to give her a proper burial.
"Do you remember what happened?"

His voice was so comforting and she listened staying in bed her head resting to the side to face him. It was easier to just not move a single movement made her just hurt more. Storm looked into Chase’s eye’s it was the only thing keeping her from seeing the one’s in her dream; Caius’ eyes. He was no father of Storm’s the man deserved to be the lifeless body not her mother… her mother shouldn’t be gone. Storm felt her eyes burn, but she couldn’t cry she wouldn’t cry in front of Chase.
Her mother was gone, but she just couldn’t remember her brows knit together again as she tried to remember. She remembered her mother popping into her house and telling her it was time to leave, but the rest… the rest she could only guess at. “It was Caius. I just I know it had to be him.”
The more Storm tried to remember the more it seemed to slip away. Why couldn’t she remember? “I can’t stay here.” Caius would look for her and she couldn’t put kids at danger. She needed to run she needed to get out, but any attempt to move was impossible whatever injuries she had suffered it immobilized her to the bed.

"Try to stay calm," Chase said. "You can stay here, and you will unless we find someplace safer. No one knows you're here yet." But they would. Students would notice the activity, would notice Aurors going in and out of his office, in and out of the Hospital Wing, and once rumors got started, they'd be impossible to stop. He needed to do major damage control, and quickly.
"I'll keep Aurors at the doors if you don't feel safe, but there's no floo in the hospital and at the moment there are no students and two Healers." He would keep Katia around for students to give Abigail the privacy she wanted, but they needed a Healer who didn't let personal issues affect her work.

How could she stay calm? Her mother was dead and for all she knew her father would be on their doorsteps. “She was so good Chase. She changed so much.” Her voice was so tiny like a scared child. There was only one woman who she could trust now, but Storm didn’t want to drag Lafra into this. Her elf was smart she was probably already with her cousin letting her know to stay put until it was safe.
Storm lifted her hands to shield her face this was all a mistake she should have just let her father be done with her not drag her problems to a school. Storm looked at Chase apologetically she put him in a difficult situation with her presence and the baggage she brought. "I'll feel safe knowing you're around." she didn't know who these Auror's were, she didn't trust faces she never met, but Chase he'd never hurt her. "I shouldn't have come, this isn't anyone's problem but mine." how could she be so selfish?

"Your mother was a former Hogwarts Head of House," Chase said, "so Hogwarts would have been tied to things anyway. It's too late for regrets. The school is involved, you're involved, and you're under our protection." Chase's voice lowered, but his cool exterior couldn't hide the determination in his voice. "For once, Storm, focus on now," he said. "Right now, all we can do is keep you safe. All you can do is adjust. You're stronger than this."

For once. He knew her so well still that it was scary. It had been so long and he could read her like an open book. Storm was fortunate it was still summer most of the students were probably home safe and tucked away. She avoided his gaze, was she really as strong as he said she was? Storm wanted to believe it more than anything, but all she could think about was losing someone so close to her. She was silent looking straight ahead to the drawn curtains she just wanted to be able to get up and leave everyone was used to her doing it anyways why not one last time. Storm tried to move her leg, but whatever the healer did to fix it up left her numb so even if she tried to leave she couldn't. "What can I do? Live in Hogwarts like a charity case?" it wasn't like she had no money she had enough of it to live comfortably, but thinking about it her life outside was basically over. Everything she had built the past few years was for nothing. "My father will come he's not mentally well. He will do anything to kill me." she had come to believe her father was a sociopath what other person would subject their own daughter to the torture she had endured?

Chase wanted to shake her out of her hopelessness, but he held back, waited for her to speak, and gathered his thoughts instead. "Your father can't get into Hogwarts," he promised, "and you don't have to take charity. If you teach a class you'll be employed here." Chase gave a low sigh and lifted a hand to rub at his temples. "If you don't want to stay here, I can find you a safehouse, at least for the summer. I'd have to contact Michael..."

That was not something she ever considered; becoming a professor, but it seemed like a plausible idea. "If I decide to teach here its best I keep away at least for the summer. I can't risk him even coming as close as Hogsmeade." it wasn't the castle but it was close enough.
Storm still avoided his eyes looking down at the blanket pulled up to her chest. Her cloak was gone destroyed from earlier events, but she could tell she still wore her bloodstained gown. Storm didn't want to look under, but she knew she was probably still stained with her mother's blood. It was hard to believe that her mother was dead some part of her still didn't want to believe, but when she closed her eyes she could still see her mother's body. How could she deny it? "I want to bury her. Give her a proper memorial; I think... I think she saved me today." it was still so blurry, but she knew it would eventually come back to her she just needed time for the shock to subside
Hearing Michael’s name made her suck in a deep breath, she hissed in pain her hand shooting up to her ribs. She didn’t have time to think about the pain Michael was one of the closest friends she had and she never even gave him the benefit of a proper explanation.

Chase leaned quickly forward, one hand reaching out to steady Storm in the moment before he called out for Abigail. He waited until the Healer arrived and gave strict instructions for Storm's care. She was to be kept calm, kept guarded, and changed into something clean if at all possible. "You'll be safe with Madam Reynolds," he said. I'll be back as soon as I can. For now, he had work to do.

Storm didn't want him to go she wanted to protest, but she knew he would be back. Storm placed a hand on his appreciatively after all they had been through he was kind to her she deserved none of this. Keeping silent she slowly nodded her head, maybe rest would do her good and jog up her memory of what happened perhaps then she could give better details of that day. Storm asked for a sleeping potion it was the one thing she knew would give her dreamless sleep which she really needed that moment. Storm was asleep within the hour.

Abigail knew how long the sleeping potion was likely to last, and she was in her charge's curtained-off area around that time, checking the woman's vitals and softly speaking the results aloud for her quick-quotes quill. "Heart rate, normal. Stronger than last check, but still worrisome. Bruises are almost entirely healed, all glass has been removed, nerve damage from Cruciatus healing slowly. It was definitely the Cruciatus Curse." All the signs of Dark Magic were there, and Dark Magic couldn't be cured with potions or spells.
Abigail shook her head slowly, then continued. "Dental fracture and shattered leg bone fully healed!" That was a particular victory, as the woman's leg had obviously been subject to further abuse after the break. "Rib bones should be healed within the hour. Lungs appear clear." If only she could heal someone's emotional wounds so easily.

Storm was slowly coming about the voice was so distant and comforting she just wanted to continue listening. At first she thought it was her mother, but the more she came around the more foreign it sounded. When Storm was fully awake and the events came rushing back to her she felt sick and empty her mother was gone. It took her eyes a moment to adjust before fixing her attention on the healer. She wanted to speak to ask the woman where Chase was but her throat was dry and her voice failed her.

Abigail straightened, stretching her back a moment before giving her patient a gentle smile. "You're awake right on time!" Her quill scribbled down the time, then soared into her waiting hand. Her pregnancy was at that awkward stage where people didn't want to ask for fear that she was just fat, but the simple dress she wore disguised it a bit. Disguise or no disguise though, she was definitely feeling it.
"You're healing up very well, Miss..." She glanced down at the name. "Miss Kitten." It was not Abi's job to question people's names, and she strongly suspected that it was a fake, anyway. There was quite a bit of mystery surrounding this young woman.
