"Thanks," Ayla said, turning. "Over at school they're all pick your classes for your job. They don't have this kind of stuff there." There was no modelling 101 at Hogwarts. "How'd you get started?" Maybe he had just gotten lucky.

Lyric shrugged. "Carried a camera around all the time," he said. "Got this one for Christmas one year. Bought the shop. Sent crap in to Cauldron and they liked it." It was a simplification, but if she wanted his life story, she could buy the magazine like everyone else. "Turn that way," Lyric said.

Well, at least she could follow orders. So far, other than the guy's pissy attitude, he didn't match up to the horror stories Ayla had heard about him. He seemed like an angry recluse. She grinned at the mental image of him scurrying away from the light, but worked to wipe the expression off her face.

Lyric took a few pictures of that smile, completely unaware of the thoughts behind it. "I've got enough for now," he said. "I'll send an owl when they're ready. If you find out about the modeling agencies and you want pictures, just bring me a list. And wear something that fits." He didn't have any problem with her clothes, but an agency would want to know what she was shaped like.

Ayla turned toward him and looked down at her shirt, pulling it out away from her. "The cami beneath fits, I just like this better," she said. "You think I got a chance?" Maybe she did, if he could manage to get into photography. He didn't exactly seem like the most business-savy, people person kind of guy.

"Can't tell," Lyric said. "Not with that shirt in the way. What's under it?" He only gave a glance up, then busied himself with Melody. She was pretty, he'd give her that, and she was cooperative. He hadn't given her a hell of a lot of direction, but she'd managed anyway. If she could work with him, she could work with about anyone. If the pictures turned out well, though, he wanted dibs.

Ayla pulled the shirt over her head, revealing a thin body wrapped in more black. "Can you tell now?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. She tossed the shirt over the room to land on her other things, then put a hand on her hip again. Another smile pulled at her lips. Maybe she liked being looked at.

Lyric looked up, and though his gaze paused, he refused to acknowledge it. He lifted Melody for a couple shots, far more comfortable looking through a lens. "You've got a chance," he admitted. Maybe next time he'd interact more, see what she really had. Maybe. Assuming she came back.

Ayla grinned and gave a couple improvised poses. "Which is my good side?" she asked, turning either way. Sure, he may be a little pissy and stuff, but she rarely got the chance to be the center of attention and she quite liked taking advantage of it when the opportunity showed itself.

"It's not about having a good side," Lyric said. "The right angles hide imperfections." He lowered the camera to give her a critical look. Then he looked away, back at Melody. There weren't any more adjustments he needed. He'd taken several pictures of her improvised posing, and figured things would be clearer once he'd actually developed something.
"I got shots from both sides, if there's much of a difference we'll be able to tell later."

Ayla dropped her arms to her sides and went over to her little pile of things. "So how long does it take for pictures to come out?" she asked. She didn't even know how pictures were made, other than someone clicking a button on a camera. "I mean, like a few days or something?" She didn't really want to wait a month.

"If you'll give me permission to use any good ones in my portfolio, I'll have them done this weekend. You just need to sign a release form and I'll give you that list of agencies." The entire deal here was in his favor. Sure, he should get paid for taking her pictures, but he did think she had potential, and if he referred her to someone who picked her up, he'd likely get their business out of the deal.

"Will I still get to use them?" Ayla asked. They were her pictures, still, even if he wanted to use them. She didn't see anything wrong with letting him use pictures and he wasn't making her pay much, anyway, which was a good thing. She picked up the oversized shirt and turned it over in her hands.

"Yeah," Lyric said. "You're buying them, you can use them, just don't make copies." That was common sense, but it was still worth saying. "I can make wizarding pictures or Muggle ones that don't move," he went on. "If you're sending them to a Muggle agency, you've got to have the Muggle ones."
