"Yeah? That's pretty cool," Keith said. "It doesn't look like it can do much of anything, much less take pictures." Muggles were able to shove the wildest things into the strangest devices. "They have a pretty tiny place, don't they?" He had been to the shop once and had gotten a brief tour of the small apartment. It was hard to imagine two people and a dog living there, with another staying there most of the time.

"Two bedrooms, a kitchen the size of a bathroom, but it's enough," Dare said. "Matthew's trying to get Rhys to move in, and if he does, I'll get a place at Hogwarts. It'll be awkward as hell being around all the time, but I like my job so I won't be taking off." He tucked his phone back into his pocket. If it came up again, maybe he'd explain why he had it. They had a lot to talk about.

"You'd better not take off," Keith teased. "I'd miss making flirty eyes at you across the staff table if you left." So to be fair he tried not to flirt openly with Dare in front of the rest of the staff, but he was in such a good mood that he couldn't help a little bit of good natured teasing.

Dare chuckled. Even if he quit Hogwarts, he'd want to stay around for a while, at least. He couldn't imagine where he'd go, but shopkeeping seemed to be the thing, so maybe he'd open up his own gallery. There were worse fates.
"We need to go out. Us and Rhys and Matthew, and maybe you could bring your personal photographer along," he added, giving a meaningful glance down the street. "You'd have to save me a dance, though. Not used to being the odd man out anymore."

"Oh, yeah, I won't say no to a dance from you," Keith said, then laughed and shook his head. "Damn, I'm on tonight, aren't I?" Well it was easy right now, with his body light and his head clear. "Just tell me to heel if you need to." It had been too long since he could be in such a good mood.

"If you want someone to turn you down, you're talking to the wrong man," Dare said, smile broadening. He'd love a game of chicken, love to push every boundary that existed and flirt himself into a frenzy, but he hadn't forgotten he was still married. He still wanted to keep Michael more than he wanted to explore, though it was tempting sometimes.

"Well, if I get all hot and bothered I'm sure Trent wouldn't mind another visit," Keith said, glancing over his shoulder toward the shop. He was silent a moment before he looked back at Dare again. "You said you and Michael are starting over." What exactly did that mean?

Dare grimaced. "I did, didn't I?" he said. He glanced aside, as though he might see behind him into the castle, but no one was around to hear, anyway. "He started this therapy thing, and long story short, decided we should stop having any kind of physical contact. That was a couple months ago.
"So after that night I crashed at your place, you know he hunted me down, and he suggested starting over. So like, he asked me on a date last week and we went to a museum." He shrugged. Not much had happened.

"So you're dating your husband?" Keith asked raising an eyebrow. It sounded...interesting. Kind of. "Do you intend on taking the plunge and asking him out? I know, I know, asking people out on dates can be terrifying, but you know, you have to do it sometimes." And he apparently couldn't stop being light hearted right now.

Dare's lips quirked and he shook his head, even if Keith's levity was appreciated. "No, I'm not asking him out," he said. "I know I'm probably being a jerk about this, but I want to see him put in a little effort to keep me this time. I know the whole reason he ever had sex with me in the first place was because he went to Kane for me, but like..." Dare let out a heavy breath and looked around before dropping his voice.
"When his dad was like, come be a Death Eater, never see him again and I'll let him go, Michael's like, okay. I'm standing there begging Michael..." Elouai butted her head into his hand, and he rubbed her ears absently, trying to find his bearings.
"When this crazy-ass girl polyjuiced herself to look like me and told Michael I was leaving for some girl and our whole relationship, our marriage, was a lie, he didn't fight for me. He didn't fight for me when our marriage was going downhill, either. He doesn't do anything unless I tell him to, so this time I'm not doing anything, and we'll see if he even gets off his ass. He's got the kids, he's got a family now, if he wants me, it's just holding onto a dream of who he thinks I am."

"Well, just be careful. I doubt he doesn't want you anymore and I wouldn't want your...lack of action? to mess things up," Keith said, serious for a moment. "You guys have been through hell, but a lot of people have been through hell and survived to be at least a little normal. Good luck, is his therapy helping at all?"

Dare gave a frustrated shrug. "I don't know, he didn't want to talk about it," he said. He tried to get hold of himself, forcing a slow breath, but he didn't have the patience he'd had once. He was tired of playing adult, of being responsible and doing what he was supposed to be doing, or what he thought he was supposed to be doing. He wasn't spending the next century wishing he'd experienced life.

"So you've been getting close to Rhys?" Keith asked, gladly switching the subject. He was far from in the mood to be pessimistic, or to be around someone that was down, so changing the topic to something less angry was a good idea. Dare had said something about Rhys earlier, hadn't he?

"We've been talking," Dare answered. "Mostly about why we're so f~ed up. So yeah, can't really talk about that." How was it that he ruined so many good conversations? He couldn't talk to Michael unless they were in a museum full of Muggles, and now he'd gone off on Keith, too.
"Hey, I'm gonna get going before I drag you down, all right?" he said, giving a motion of his hand for Elouai to stand up. "We're on for this weekend though, right?" Something he could look forward to besides his next session with Mistress V, which seemed all too far away at the moment.

"Come on, you don't have to go," Keith said. "It's just that when I'm in a mood like this I'm kind of irreversibly happy for...at least a day." Not that he ever actively tried to kick himself out of the mood. "But if you're going to insist on going, we're definitely on for the weekend."
