"As do I," Mano said. "Society is interesting and all but I much prefer being out here." He paused for a moment, readying another bite of cake. "I do believe I just blew my cover, didn't I?" His lips curved into a grin as he looked up at her, away from the table. Well, it wasn't like she hadn't already guessed.

"It was a thin cover, anyway," Mallory said, smiling ever so slightly. "Little more than lingerie." She slid another forkful of vivid scarlet cake between her lips, taking the moment to look again at the man. So this was Mano Berwyn, rogue of Diagon Alley? He seemed rather innocent somehow, though considering his reputation, that was rather laughable. Not that she'd done anything more than ask the local shopkeepers about one another to get a feel for things.

"Sometimes lingerie is the best cover," Mano said, catching her eyes. "Just enough to tease and wake the imagination." He had quite the imagination, though there wasn't much to imagine with this woman. At the same time, he had never been with anyone blessed with her proportions, so there was still a bit of mystery.

"Do you enjoy being teased?" Mallory asked, as though she hadn't done a bit of that since she'd walked into the cafe. Still, she wondered if he'd gotten the reputation he had simply from witty repartee. She'd expected to be fighting off groping hands by now, from the way people talked.

"The fun is in the hunt, teasing just adds to it," Mano said. Sure, the conquest was fun, but the hunt, the information he got from the journey to the conquest, that was what he thrived on. It was one of the things Emilian had learned well. "You have icing, just there." A lie, but it gave him the opportunity to lightly brush against her lip.

Mallory saw that hand rising and turned away before it could reach its goal. "Do you fancy yourself a hunter, Mr. Berwyn?" she asked. She lifted a napkin to dab at her lips, though she'd been raised better than to get food on her face while eating. Still, she wouldn't call him a liar and risk having actually made a mess of herself.

Mano raised an eyebrow at that unexpected move. His interest peaked and he looked at her curiously. "When the title fits," he said. "You can call me Mano, if you'd prefer." Perhaps she was simply used to fending off pursuers, though he thought he had done a fine job of keeping his eyes and thoughts at an appropriate level.
