"You can't help who you fall in love with," Rowan said coldly. "You know that you and I were an experiment, and I can't believe you decided to air that in front of my wife! I've enjoyed our friendship, but if you're forcing me to choose, there's only one answer to give." He reached for Shianni's hand and tucked it against his arm.

"No! You told me a long time ago that it wasn't an experiment anymore!" Keith felt desperate now. He couldn't have been living a lie this whole time, he just couldn't. "You bastard, I've been your friend! I thought I meant something!" It was increasingly obvious he really hadn't, though. "You couldn't have at least had the decency to f~ing tell me before running off and getting f~ing married?"

"Shianni, please take the Portkey and begin your packing. You don't need to hear this vile language," Rowan said. He didn't want her to leave, but this had gotten dirty.
"If you're calling me a liar, I'm taking issue," he told Keith. "I explained things to you multiple times, in several different ways, and stand by what I said, but conversation alone isn't love. I've been walking with blinders on, and tonight I saw what I'd been missing. My good fortune wasn't a creation designed to screw you over!"

"If you didn't want to be with me you should have told me! You shouldn't have led me on!" Keith ignored the woman as she wavered before nodding and leaving. Of course, he didn't miss the light kiss she pressed to Rowan's cheek before departing. "I never said I loved you. Sure, I came close once or twice but I didn't! Rowan you can't do this, please, you're never like this." It didn't make any sense.

"I'm never like what? Happy? She makes me happy! How many times do I have to tell you that neither of us realized this was happening? If you were my friend, you'd be happy for me, instead of acting like I've been two-faced, and in front of her! That was low, Keith, and completely tactless!"

"If you were my friend you wouldn't have betrayed me like this! If you didn't know it was happening then you should have f~ing waited when you figured it out and told me! Maybe, maybe I don't know, Rowan, maybe I could have been okay with it somehow!" It hurt, more than Keith cared to admit.

"This couldn't wait!" Rowan argued. "You can't have ever loved someone or you'd understand. I'm not going to stand here and have you belittle me because you won't accept the facts! It has happened, it's in the past, and I'm moving on." He needed to go pack, not stand arguing.

"Then move on you f~ing bastard. I hope you're f~ing happy with your new blushing bride," Keith spat angrily. "I never want to f~ing speak to you ever again." He turned on his heel to leave, unsure for now just where he would go. He couldn't walk to the castle, not when it meant being feet away from Rowan the whole time unless he just flat out ran. No, he had to get away.

Rowan itched to pull his wand, to hex Keith for his insults or to sling them back, but he bit his tongue and reminded himself that he was better than that. He had a wife to return to, had a suitcase to pack for his honeymoon. He turned and headed into the castle at a clip.
