Rowan listened, a bit surprised at the existence of such a thing and still somewhat lost as to how it would make celibacy better for someone who didn't like it to begin with, but he could see no personal reasons to object. "So all I'd have to do is hold onto a key, give it to you once in a while, and you'd be happy?" This wasn't anything near the things he'd imagined being asked for.

Keith let out a breathy laugh. "Kind of," he said. "It helps, a lot. It's more about the connection it gives than getting off." Maybe that was something Rowan would get to understand as they did this. "Don't just give me the key, either, make me do something or refuse to if I ask, something. Make it a game." That made it fun, and that was just as big a part of it.

"What kinds of things?" Rowan asked. "How long should I hold onto it for?" He was more than willing to play along, especially since it meant he wouldn't be forcing himself into more unpleasant situations, but this was like no kind of game he'd ever imagined, and surely there were rules to it.

"Start out slow, two or three days. But I've never worn it longer than about two weeks, I could put it on later and bring you the key tomorrow or something," Keith said. "Generally being unlocked is like...a reward, you know, for giving a massage or doing a chore or just not begging or whatever. It's easier to go longer if there's other things, kiss or whatever." Was it asking too much to ask for a kiss as well? Rowan had never objected to a kiss.

Rowan nodded, accepting the rules even if he couldn't wrap his mind around the logic of them. He supposed he'd simply have to watch and see. "You can drop the key by my office if you want. I've been taking my coffee there in the mornings and staying late. You know how the first week is." Every student he'd gotten to know the year before needed reevaluated for things they'd forgotten over the summer months, though now that he was seeing some of them for the third time it was getting easier.

"Yeah, it can be crazy," Keith said. "I'll bring it by. Thanks for being so...okay with this." A lot of people would reject it on principle, but Rowan was full of surprises and Keith really need to keep himself from assuming Rowan would react a certain way to things, he tended to be wrong. He was so glad this had gone so well.

"It's no problem," Rowan said. "If it works for you, it seems like a good solution." They were just full of good solutions today. He didn't know what had happened to change Keith so much at Warlock Sands, but was infinitely grateful that the moody, clinging party boy had faded into the background. He really did enjoy talking to Keith.
Still, he was glad when he had his quarters to himself again. So much had been gone over and sorted out that his book was just the thing he needed to relax again. He stretched out on the couch this time, propped against his pillows, and got back to the business of relaxing.
