"Oh my God," Dare said, sitting heavily in the other side of the booth. He scooted in all the way, then shifted to sit in the corner of the booth, letting his long legs stretch out. "So he's one of Michael's old friends," he said, starting right in. "Too much money, too much free time, thinks he's pretty badassed.
"He found out another one of their friends has a thing for him, and he's in a panic like the world's coming down. He sort of asked for help, but I couldn't tell him how to erase everything like it didn't happen, so he like, gave up. It's totally random and it's weirding me out, you know?" He finally stopped for breath and raised a hand so someone would come take his order.

"So, are you some kind of resident counselor?" Matthew asked, raising an eyebrow and flicking a glance between Dare and Keith. Keith didn't know the man, but he had all but decided it was the owner. He also probably didn't want to say anything negative about Purebloods. He took a sip from his drink.

Dare glanced at Keith before his eyes settled back onto Matthew. "Guess so," he said. "I don't mind talking to people, but I think he caught me just because I was there." And because Mano hadn't had any idea how badly he and Markise had worked out. He paused to give his order to the waitress, then turned himself back to the conversation. Or, more likely, venting. "I'm not any kind of expert, I can tell people what not to do a lot better than what to do." He avoided Keith's eyes, not wanting to give anything away.

"You're not that bad at the whole advice thing," Matthew said, looking over at Keith.
Keith shrugged and shook his head. "You're pretty good. Just having an experience to pull from is exactly what a lot of people need." Preachy advice did no good when there wasn't experience to back it up. If anyone else had tried to, in essence, tell him to try it with Matthew, Keith probably would have ignored it.

Dare shrugged, unconvinced. Yes, talking was what had gotten him so close to Michael so fast, and what held them together, but that was them, not him. "Thanks," he said, all the same. Whatever it was he'd told Keith had apparently been helpful, and Matthew seemed to know they'd talked, so he'd done something. For them, at least. He doubted he'd done anything for Mano.
