To Aiden, it was nothing, just casual contact, nothing more than accidentally reaching for a handle at the same time as someone else or taking a quill from a friend. "Okay, just tell me what to do," he said, glancing over at Trent before focusing his eyes on his wand. He needed to watch, or else he would just miss whatever he was messing up again.

Lyric was near breathless with the contact, and it was all he could do to remember the spell. He couldn't have imagined that the air wasn't as thick as it felt to him, and so he wondered again if he should be doing this. He couldn't part his lips to say anything, but he managed to move his hand somehow, to guide it in the graceful arc and simple pattern the spell needed.

Aiden might have felt something coming from Trent, but it barely registered with his focus on the wandwork. It felt really weird, but that could be from the wand movements or from the contact. "Thanks," he said, glancing over at Trent again. "So like this..." He moved his hand in the movement, just to double check that he had caught it right.

"Mhm," Lyric agreed. He pried his fingers loose and dragged his gaze away from Aiden's, trying to concentrate on breathing normally as he took his distance back. "Good job," he said absently. He turned, trying to get himself together, and focused on Shadow, still curled up, and to all appearances fast asleep. What was he hoping for? That the cat would take over conversation for him? Tell him what to do? Tell him he was an idiot for all the feelings he was trying to repress?

"Thanks, man," Aiden said, absently giving Trent a light pat on the shoulder before he tried it again a couple more times, sure he had it right now. "You okay?" he asked when he glanced back at Trent. He didn't know what was up, but he was getting a vibe that something was. There wasn't anything he had done, right?

Lyric nodded without hesitation. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said. "Headache or something." He paid little attention to the excuse he gave. He'd only just started making headway with repressing things and he could still feel that firm hand on his shoulder, could still actually feel the strange warmth of Aiden's hand under his. I can't see Jory today, he thought to himself. He'd go to Kane or something, ask for someone else, just for the day.

"Sorry, didn't know I'd be so stressful to teach," Aiden said, his voice filled with a light tease. "You could probably go to the hospital wing, could probably get something to help there." He moved through the motions a few more times before dropping his hand. "I'll walk with you, if you want or something," he offered.

Lyric's adrenaline picked up all over again at that, and he looked up, if only for a second. Then he was looking away again, hoping he didn't look as hopeful and half-desperate as he felt. "Yeah, that'd be nice," he said. He reached for Shadow and picked the cat up, getting a surprised myaoi, quickly followed by a rumbling purr, for his efforts.

Aiden tucked his wand away and grabbed up his hoodie to drape across an arm. "Do you get headaches a lot or is it just some weird, random thing?" he asked, heading to the door. Hopefully, the corridors wouldn't be freezing like they could be when they wanted. "My dad used to get really bad headaches when I was little, I don't think he ever found anything that fixed them, though."

"It's... not that bad," Lyric said, slipping easily into the lie. "It's just random." And would probably be random any time they got too close, if he couldn't figure out how to shut himself off. Maybe he should have claimed random headaches after all, or just a sudden migraine to get away. Maybe if he claimed a migraine the nurse would give him a really good potion. Shadow squirmed to be set down, and Lyric obliged.

"Well, I hope it goes away, they're a pain....no pun intended..." Aiden put his hands in his pockets as they walked. "So do you want to meet up a couple times a week or something?" he asked. "I mean, not that we need to study right now, but we could hang out or something." Surely they could figure out something to do, and it would be nice to have plans for once.

Lyric's heart leapt, and he began to wonder if he should ask for a calming potion, too. "Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that." It took him a moment to realize that Aiden was talking about studying together. And hanging out, he reminded himself. He didn't even know how to hang out. With Jory it was a lot of trying to talk, then sitting there in silence for a while. He should have said no.

"Do you fly?" Aiden asked. He couldn't really see Trent up on a broom, he didn't seem to match any of the stereotypical body builds. He was a bit too tall to be a seeker, though Aiden figured he could probably do it if he wanted to. It was always good to meet someone that liked flying, though, and if Trent didn't fly maybe Aiden could get him up there, anyway.

"I can, but I don't," Lyric said. He didn't know how good he was, probably just average, and he hadn't flown in forever anyway. His broom was back home hanging up. "Why, do you?" He flicked a glance aside at Aiden, who he could see as a beater easily. He could be wrong, though.

"Yeah, keeper," Aiden said. "If you ever wanted to, we could go flying. It's been too effing cold lately, but we could figure something out if you wanted. Do you hate flying, or do you just not do it?" he asked, looking over at Trent. He wouldn't force the guy to go out, but anything added to their to do list was welcome.
