"Cool," Indigo said. "So do you get like, special treatment for being friends with the professors?" he asked. He couldn't imagine getting a massive lecture about potential and time management from someone you'd hung out with, even a couple years before.

Annabelle couldn't hold back a wry grin. "I wouldn't really call us friends. Dare and I have patched things up and we've talked and stuff so I really enjoy his class now...but Micheal's class is like a special form of torture. We aren't even on speaking terms anymore, and it figures he would teach one of my worst subjects." She wished so often that he'd never become a teacher at the school. It would have made her life easier if he'd just hidden himself away at his pet shop and didn't come and interrupt her daily life.

Indigo arched his brows, but didn't look up from his computer screen. That didn't sound like something he should ask about. "That sucks," he said instead. He could admit to himself that he was curious, but whatever her former relationships with either professor was none of his business. He finished a few last clicks in the vampire app, then went to go deal with messages and notifications.

"Yeah." Annabelle replied, then added partly under her breath, "Thats what happens when your ex becomes a Professor." She hadn't really meant to say it, but the whole school knew so it didn't really cross her mind that he hadn't been there and wouldn't have known. She had already clicked back to her own wall for fear that he might catch her looking him up, and was in the middle of posting about being stuck in a snowstorm.

Indigo only just heard her, between the clack of the keyboard and the low music in his ears. He didn't say anything, but thought about it a bit as he assured a friend back home that a week offline didn't mean he was maimed and half-dead. It had sounded like she'd said her ex was a professor, but he could have sworn that the two were married or something. And she'd said that the one professor's brother was still a student, so they weren't brothers, not that they looked anything alike. He decided not to worry about it. If she wanted him to know, she'd tell him. He opened his page in another tab to update his status, still under the belief that he'd put Annabelle into a group that could only see his app updates. He quickly typed something up, then hit post. The black-haired b~ is back, kids. Hide your girlfriends.

Several minutes of silence went by, with Indigo doing his own thing and Annabelle doing hers. She'd already been on today and had pretty much done everything she normally did. She remembered to check the weather, which said the storm was supposed to last through the night into mid-day tomorrow, which didn't surprise her. At least it's not a week or something, we'd probably starve. She was about to get up and ask Indigo if he wanted something to drink, but she'd clicked her home page on Facebook and caught his name with a new status update. Her eyes widened and she was torn with indecision. Did she pretend like she hadn't seen it? But he added her as a friend, so he knew she could see it. Glad to be of service was way too forward, You're using my internet for what?!? was just plain rude, and if she just liked it wouldn't he think she was encouraging him, which didn't sound like the right thing to do. In the end she quickly commented with a simple before setting her laptop aside standing up. It was cowardly to comment and run, but she wasn't a Gryffindor. "I'm going to make something to drink, you want anything while I'm upstairs?"

Indigo hardly glanced up. "Yeah, sure. Whatever you're having," he said. "Thank you." He ignored the new notifications for now as he answered another message, but after a minute or two, went to see who'd commented so quickly. Oh my God, no!She wasn't supposed to see that! How had she seen it? He hurried to his friends page, and was confronted by the results of his carelessness. She was in the wrong group. She could see everything. He thought about changing her group, but she'd notice if all of a sudden she couldn't see anything. He debated, ignoring notifications from others who were already commenting, whether with innuendo or calling him on the b.s. that comment had totally been. Impulsively, he opened up an IM to Annabelle, though he only stared at it for another moment. Then he wrote her a message and hit send before he could change his mind. it was an inside joke, i swear!

"I didn't know how you liked your tea so I just brought the stuff for you to fix it." Annabelle said as she returned with a tea setting and a bowl of crisps for them to munch on. She set the service down on the side table next to them, then walked back around the store's counter. She was anxious to see if he replied, but nervous at the same time, so she stalled. She grabbed her computer's cord, purposefully not looking directly at him, she walked around to the fireplace and bent over to connect the plug to the outlet.

Indigo hadn't managed to say thank you again, only to give a forced smile as he hung his head so she couldn't see how deathly nervous he was. She couldn't have read it yet, not since she wasn't leaving and she hadn't said anything. Or maybe she was ignoring it. Was she pissed? He hadn't said anything bad, not really, it was just incredibly lame, now that he thought about it. He'd never say something like that in real life. It was all he could do to fix himself a cup of tea. He'd never even had hot tea before, and so he just dumped some stuff in at random and grabbed a handful of chips to eat so she wouldn't expect him to talk.

Annabelle sat back down at her computer and imediately saw the IM message at the bottom of the screen and panicked. She didn't know what she'd expected him to respond with, but a personal IM, and for it to have been an inside joke with someone else.... She knew she should just talk to him out loud, they were in the same room and all, but she couldn't even look up at him she was so embarrassed. It was so much easier for her to quickly type a response and hit send, then busy herself with making her own cup.
I'm sorry! I probably shouldn't have commented at all.... it just, yeah, I don't know really.

Indigo's gaze immediately moved to the return message at the bottom of the screen. He gave no pretense that he hadn't noticed it and sat staring a moment as he tried to decide what to say back. He licked his lips lightly, then typed, it's all good. and hit send. Any regret for not having written something better was pushed firmly down. It was sent. That was it. He continued playing catch-up.

Annabelle had refreshed her page and could now see all the various comments that ranged from one extreme, heavy flirting that practically confirmed he was a player, to the other, one telling him he wouldn't know what to do with a girl if he had one. Ouch. She really didn't know what to think about their comments, or about who Indigo really was. She'd offered to let him stay overnight, not that she'd had any choice really, but she didn't even know the guy. Her cheeks were red, and she hoped he wasn't looking her way, but refused to look up at him.
Lol. Apparently your friends are conflicted as well. Not that it's any of my business. After she sent it she started chewing on her lower lip and quickly typed, Just we're staying here together and I don't even know you really.

Indigo was surprised to get another message, and even more surprised by what it said. The back of his neck heated when he read it, and he opened up his page to see what everyone was saying. The usual b.s. for the most part. He wished he could think of something insanely clever to type that would make them all suddenly make him look good. He debated, staring at the IM for some time before he wrote, what do you want to know?

Of all the possible responses Anna was playing in her head, why hadn't she thought of that one? She was completely caught off guard. There were loads of possible answers, and she wished she'd looked more closely at his page to know what she should say. Sure, she saw a couple of his favorite movies, she'd found out that he went to some interesting parties, but it's not like she'd studied his page with a magnifying glass. She probably took longer than she should had before replying with, I don't know...When did you move here? & why?

That's a long story, Indigo wrote back. He looked at the IM a moment before trying anyway. The school I went to used to be the salem witches institute, but like 10 years ago they decided to make it coed. so it was the salem institute of magic. they were fighting over whether to turn it back into a witches school and my parents pulled me. something about not learning much when everyone's distracted. i don't now why they sent me here instead of somewhere closer. He paused before clicking send, then immediately added, how long have you been here?
