"Dashing," Dare repeated with a chuckle. "If you're a fashion designer you're going to have some competition. There's a guy in Hogsmeade who does that." A guy who as far as Dare knew wanted to do that for a living and might get a little pissed off at the competition, however friendly and playful it was. Not that Markise had ever run a fashion show either, but with all the magazines he used to read he'd have a better idea than Dare, for certain.

Verity raised her eye brows. “Sterling Style?” She asked. She passed the shop every day on her way to the Three Broomsticks, but she had never actually gone in and looked around. It wasn’t that she thought she was above the store, she just preferred to do her shopping in the familiar streets of Paris, Milan, or London. A smirk spread across her lips as she wondered about asking him to be a model for it. She shook her head lightly. No, she wouldn’t start that fight. Not yet, at least.

"Yeah, he's got stuff he made up in the windows." Not that Dare knew anything about real fashion, not past the things he wore, but it was all pretty impressive. He had a few things Markise had made and knew Markise wore things too, though he could never tell which were home made and which he'd altered to fit. Dare shrugged, but he was wondering if he ought to let Markise know somehow.

Verity nodded. "I've walked by his store a few times." She said. "I've only glanced at it as I passed by, but it didn't look half bad." She kept her voice level even though in her head she was working out exactly how she could take this other guy on. She didn't find it odd at all that she immediately wondered how she could take him on and win rather then take the opportunity to make a new friend rather than enemy. "I keep meaning to go in and check it out, but..." Verity trailed off and waved her hand as if he should already have an indication of what she was going to say.

Dare's brows arched slightly beneath his fringe. Apparently she didn't care about stepping on people's toes. If he hadn't known Markise so well he probably would have shrugged it off, but he had a chronic case of Stereotypical Gryffindor Hero Syndrome and it flared up too easily sometimes in defense of his friends. "Maybe you ought to try it sometime," he said. The words weren't cold, weren't annoyed, just a simple suggestion.

Verity nodded and made the assumption that Dare must be well acquainted with the owner of the shop. Most people don't usually get that defensive over strangers. Then again, there were a lot of people who weren't even protective over their closest friends. Verity's eyes fell on his robes, searching for the patch that would confirm her suspicions about what house it was. When she couldn't find it, she averted her eyes. It wasn't that important. "I will." She promised. Maybe she would go later today, maybe not. She hardly had enough motivation to keep herself standing up, going all the way down to Hogsmeade seemed impossible right now. Even though she would have to suck it up and get down there in time to open the Three Broomsticks. Without realizing it, a sigh escaped her. Sometimes the Three Broomsticks seemed like too much of a hassle to really deal with. If not later today, she would make it a point to head down to the clothing shop soon.

Dare had no explanation for why Verity had gone from talkative and interested to speechless and distant. He thought back over what he'd said and didn't think he'd been harsh, no matter how protective of Markise he might still feel. He realized how little female company had, even just conversations like this. He used to be a lot better at picking up on things.
"Listen, if I said something, I'm sorry. I don't get out much lately." It was his best excuse and it felt pretty pathetic. His hand reached up to rub absently at the back of his neck, a sheepish and unconscious gesture.

((WOOOOOPS. I just saw this sorry >.<))
Verity blinked and her face suddenly relaxed. Her jaw, which had been clenched, relaxed and that smile returned to her lips. "No, it wasn't anything you said or your fault. I just...spaced out." She said with a shrug. "It happens." Well, it mostly happened when she was sitting in a class and couldn't hold her focus, but it happened other times too. "Sorry." Verity added apologetically. It was a horrible trait, but Verity had the attention span of a five year old little girl trapped in a room of unicorns and rainbows.
