"Probably not, I doubt he'd leave Michael," Ariel said. "I want you to be happy, I'll go out with the two of them, and if we can get other people then even better, if it'll help." He didn't want it to be a chore for Markise or for him to be forced to live a way he didn't want to. They both had to give up a little to keep the other happy, but they weren't going out at all, and he knew that was hitting Markise.

Markise nodded lightly against Ariel. "I'd like that," he said, even softer than before. He didn't want Ariel to feel like he wasn't enough, but he wasn't. And that didn't make him worth any less, because Markise had always liked being the center of attention and he always would. He turned to press soft kisses against Ariel's chest in thanks and reassurance.

Ariel didn't like thinking that he wasn't enough, but he didn't think of it that way. He thought of it as Markise needing the social life just like he needed to be outside. It would drive him insane not to be able to be outside, and it was doing the same thing to Markise when it came to being around people. "So it'll help you?" he asked.

Markise made a little indiscriminate sound against Ariel's skin, then sighed and relaxed again. "It'll help," he said. He didn't know how much, though. He'd be virtually babysat, and that was if he could trust Dare enough to leave Ariel's side for any amount of time. Or maybe it would just be an elaborate double date and he'd be with Ariel watching Dare fawn over Michael all night.

Ariel didn't know what else to say, so he smoothed his hand over Markise's back and tried to figure out for himself just how much it would help. He couldn't bring himself to give Markise the freedom to go out and dance with whoever he wanted. It was something he had thought about over and over and tried to rationalize, but each time he just came up short.

"Are you really okay with it?" Markise asked softly. Ariel knew more about his feelings for Dare than anyone should know, but it was in the past, right? It was him and Ariel now, and they were happy, and it worked. The more he thought about it, the better it sounded, but if Ariel was miserable the entire time he would be, too. As much as he wanted it, he wanted Ariel to be happy more.

Ariel nodded slowly, still thinking. "Yes," he said. "I trust you, and them. I don't think anything would happen." It would be good, for the both of them, to have even a small group to go out and do things with. He would be okay, he liked going out with Markise, and having Dare and Michael just gave more security and less chance of things becoming stale for Markise.

Who had said anything about anything happening? It took a moment for Markise to realize that Ariel meant him sneaking off to get a drink, or DareandMichael letting him sneak off to get one. Why did Ariel trust him? The more bored he'd gotten the more he'd wanted a drink and lately stopping by the kitchens or making a quick stop at the store on the way home was sounding better and better. And why did he still not trust Ariel not to sneak off and blow someone for Muggle drugs? His mental image of Ariel in the bathroom that day still hadn't faded. "Thank you," he said simply.

Ariel had to trust Markise, what he didn't trust was everyone else. He knew Markise wouldn't willingly go off and do anything he wasn't supposed to, but that didn't mean people wouldn't try and Ariel knew how hard it was to resist when something was put in front of you. He trusted Markise, though it would be easy to lose control. "I told him I would owl him."

"Do it tomorrow," Markise said, snuggling into Ariel. It wasn't yet dark, but if he could keep Ariel in bed the rest of the evening, he'd sleep better tonight. He didn't want to have to think about this all night, and since everything was settled, there was really no reason to.
