"I didn't choose Hogwarts, either. My father's wife did." Verity said careful not to mention her as a mother or even a relative of hers. In a couple of weeks, she would only be another ex-wife. As she spoke, her grin grew wider. She wasn't used to just talking to people. She had never stayed at the same school long enough to make any lasting friendships. Usually, after she left a school, she would keep in touch for about a month before the friendship died off. "It's hard having to make new friends in a new place." Verity said, speaking from experience. It was easy to talk to him, was this what friends did? It made her realize that what she had at the other schools she had attended could hardly be called friends. "So, do you have any interests aside from dance?"

"Ouch." Ocean said in reference to the wife. He had a couple friends with divorced parents. "I like to go clubbing. Hang out on the beach with a butterbeer." The clubbing had to include dancing. "Concerts. Have to go to concerts." He ran a sheepish hand through his short strands of hair. "Teenager stuff."

The list sounded like things teenagers would normally do. "I like clubbing, only I've been told that the only club around here isn't very exciting and that if a person really wants to go clubbing, they should check out London. I also haven't found anyone to go yet." Verity said, raising a brow hopefully. "I like the beach, but I haven't been in a while." She said. "And I've never actually been to a concert. At least not one that didn't involve boring rich grown-ups and a string quartet." Verity nearly gagged at the memory of being dragged off to those boring classical concerts. It was a long time ago, back when her parents were still together. Unhappy, but together nonetheless.

Ocean shook his head. "Those aren't concerts. You go to those for a ballet. Or opera. You do not go to them for fun." He thought about his friends back home. "My friends used to tell me I was to stiff. They started taking me out to concerts with them. Real concerts. Techno. Dance. Pop. Indie. Rock. You name it. I've had a ticket to see it. You should come with me to one sometime."

Those aren't concerts. That was an understatement. They were a punishment from hell, the worst form of toruture a kid no older than seven years old could imagine. Verity beamed. She could almost imagine what a concert would be like. Loud, crowded, fun, crazy...she was excited just thinking about it. "Really?!!" She said brimming with excitement. "I would love to go." Verity's mind was already beginning picturing the concert. She would..."What...what are the concerts like?" She asked, curiosity burning within her.

"Think loud parties. The music thuds. People mill everywhere. You're so close to the next person that you're pretty sure you're one person. No room to breathe. To think. Not unless they can hear the thoughts too." His eyes were intense. Lingering in just the right places. It sounded seductive. Even to his ears. But concerts were. "You can't really understand until you've been to one."

Verity’s eyes got wider as she listened. With each word, her excitement grew bigger and bigger until she was sure she was about to burst. It sounded like exactly the thing she was raised not to ever consider going to. “It sounds absolutely perfect.” The excitement spilled into her voice. Verity could hardly wait. She suddenly wanted to be at a concert that very moment.

"There isn't a whole lot that is more perfect." Not much at all. Not unless he was a dancer on the stage. Or at a club. Ocean was glad that his parents had allowed him freedom. Outside of dance lessons. Dinners. Parties with friends.

"What kind of music do you like?" Verity asked curiously. She wasn't picky as long as it had a beat. More recently, she had been really interested in the classics. The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks, Creedence Clearwater, the list went on. Unfortunately, they were bands that where either old and didn't sound very good anymore or most of the members of the band had passed away. Verity always joked that she was born in the wrong decade. She loved everything from the roaring twenties to the eighties.

Ocean shrugged. "All of it?" It wasn't a question. But it was. He had friends who adhered to one genre a person. Others who were eclectic. "I guess I just like variety. The spice of life. You know? It always depends on my mood."

Verity raised an eyebrow. “I know what you mean.” She said nodding. Her friends at her old school always kept up with the hottest, newest artists, but Verity usually didn’t like the most popular musicians. It was rare when one of them came out with songs that were actually good. Verity still kept up with those bands in order to be able to have a conversation with her friends, but it was rare when she found a song that she actually liked. “I go through phases. Sometimes it lasts for a couple of months, a couple of weeks, days, hours…it really depends. I listen to a certain band or genre and only that band or genre. Eventually, I start to branch out more. I listen to music I normally wouldn’t listen to and then I find a band or genre I really like and the pattern repeats. However, there are times when the music I listen to is completely random. It really depends on what time of day it is, how I am feeling, and how the people around me are feeling.” That was one of Verity’s weaknesses. The moods of the people around her, really affected her. If she’s around a group of people who are really sad or miserable, she starts feeling the same way even if she doesn’t really have a reason to.

Ocean shrugged. "I listen to whatever is available. I get tired of classical. At work." He gestured to the room. His impromptu dance room. "Strangely. I'm liking Panic at the Disco lately." Strange because their music was strange. Depended on the album. Though personally. He liked the older version. It still counted as dance music.

"Wow." Verity said thinking for a moment. "I haven't listened to Panic At the Disco since they were Panic! At the Disco." She remembered it had been a few years. There was one hit song that she heard all over the place I Write Sins Not Tragedies, and that had convinced her to listen to some of their songs. She used to know the entire CD, but now she could hardly remember the lyrics to that first song. "Lately I've been listening to Queen." She said with a huge smile. Their songs were upbeat mostly and catchy, but it would be kind of hard to go to a concert of theirs since Freddy Mercury had passed away years ago.
