Michael watched Dare, though he tried to focus on his own sandwich. He wasn't looking forward to seeing Grey, but he supposed he didn't have much choice in the matter. "I need to get a wand soon." It was so weird not having the familiar wood within his grasp. He didn't think a new wand would ever feel right, but a strange feeling wand was better than no wand.

Dare looked up from a piece of vegetable he'd been about to attempt to eat, and nodded. "We could go today," he said, firmly refusing to believe he might wear out before they could get that far. The wand shop was in Diagon Alley, and if they just stopped now and then so he could rest, they could eat, get whatever potion Grey could give them, and get Michael a wand all in one trip. Elouai would have been out for long enough by then, and maybe they could just stay home after.

"Will you be okay?" Michael asked, knowing how much just the walk here had taken out of Dare. He knew that the sooner they got things done, the better, but would it be worth rushing Dare when he could barely handle a short walk to a cafe? He also knew that Dare was more likely to lie and say he would be fine rather than admit he couldn't do it.

"I'll be fine," Dare said, unknowingly doing exactly what Michael expected him to. He convinced himself it was the truth without really thinking about it, telling himself he would be fine, if exhausted by the time they got home. If he believed he could strongly enough, he would be fine, and his surviving his time with Ivy was testament to that. He had conveniently pushed last night's shower from his mind.
The next time Michael glanced away, Dare pulled another chunk of meat out of his soup and slipped his hand under the table for Elouai. He was already full, and it looked like he'd hardly eaten anything, but there was no use worrying Michael any more than he already was.
