"Yes, I saw," Eros said dismissively. "Is he stunned?" he asked, gesturing toward Dare. He certainly hoped so. If the boy was dead, he had half a mind to wake Michael up and let him have at it for a while. "And who are you? I'm afraid my name is private information until I'm certain I know what's happening." Where was the Somers girl? This one looked nothing like the feminine beauty that was Emily, but the other was too dark-skinned.

Ivy nodded at the man's first question, looking over at Dare for a few seconds before she looked up. "Ivy Somers," she answered, before quickly moving on. "Why do you have me tied up when he's the one that used an Unforgiveable?" she demanded. It was a shame she wasn't thinking clearly enough to notice the quality of the man's clothes, then she might have made some kind of connection.

"If you hadn't noticed, Miss Somers, he is stunned. You are not because he likely has little idea what is happening, and you likely do. Does he know that Dare is stunned?" Eros asked. Not that it would have mattered to Michael, but Eros thought it wise to understand everything before making any judgments. He looked the girl over now, with a distantly appraising eye. Was this really Emily Somers's little sister? Apparently the elder girl had gotten both looks and temperament.

Well, that was enough to tell Ivy that this guy knew Michael and Dare, and from her experience that was more than enough to say that he would be on Michael's side. "No, he doesn't," she said, turning glaring eyes on Michael. No, Michael thought Dare was dead, exactly as she had wanted. "Care to tell me your name now, or do I have to keep calling you the overly-dressed-man-with-the-wand in my head?"

Eros's lips curved into an urbane smile. "How can one be overdressed for a rescue?" he asked smoothly. That false smile faded as he looked around the room again, truly noting the dust and rotting boards for the first time. If anything, the room was underdressed. "My name is Eros d'Avonderre," he said, still looking over the room as he spoke. "I knew your sister, and to some extent your parents. It was truly a tragedy, and I was sorry to hear of your loss." The words were truthfully and purposefully spoken. He had been sorry for her loss, and still thought the entire situation tragic, whether he felt that any of this was justified or not.

Ivy looked at Eros suspiciously. How had he known her family? She only vaguely knew his last name, not well enough to put any meaning behind it. "I don't remember seeing you," she said, thinking back to all of the empty well-wishes from coworkers and distant friends and relatives. "Whose side are you on?"

"I am on my own side, my dear," Eros said honestly. It so happened to align with Michael at the moment, and usually, to be entirely truthful, but he had no desire for the Somers girl to become uncooperative over such a declaration. He turned his attention back to her, and after a moment crossed the room to squat in front of her. "Miss Somers," he said, leveling her as best he could without actually untying her, "I understand your pain, though I haven't suffered such tragedy personally, but I do wonder what you thought to accomplish with all this." He could put enough pieces together to guess what had happened, though there were of course gaping holes he'd been given no clues for. But he did want to understand, if only so he could decide what, exactly, he wanted to do with her.

"Why should I tell you?" Ivy asked, eying Eros. She didn't feel like she could trust him. Her eyes moved from him to Michael after a few seconds, then hardened. "He knows what it feels like, now." That had been her goal, since it had seemed impossible to get anyone to agree that he deserved to be punished. But now he knew, now he had lost Dare twice.

"Are you satisfied, then?" Eros asked. "I would think the fact that I haven't revived Michael and returned his wand, nor summoned Aurors to do a more thorough probe, would be enough to summon at least a modicum of trust. I realize the irony of saying as much, considering the ropes, but unfortunately, I have no reason to trust you. So again, are you satisfied?" Eros doubted he'd believe the girl if she replied in the affirmative, but curiosity prompted him to ask.

Ivy stared at Eros for a few moments before she looked back at Michael and shook her head. "No, I'm not. He deserves more, how does he get off, how do any of them get off! They're disgusting, every one of them, they ruin lives, they should all be shut away!" He had to have ruined more than just her family, and he hadn't gotten anything for it!

"Then I have another question, and I am afraid I can guess the answer. Do you not believe in any kind of God, child? In the power of redemption? Can people repent and be forgiven, or will they always be disgusting, as you put it?" His question was double-edged. If she could not believe in redemption, then why should he believe she might see her mistakes? He would prefer to ask the girl everything that had happened, but it seemed better, perhaps, that he deal with Michael and allow the Aurors to deal with the girl.

"I don't care if they've repented! Just because someone ups and says 'oh, I'm sorry, sir, for killing your daughter, good day to you' doesn't take away what they did! They get to walk off with a clean conscience and what becomes of the man who lost his family?" Redemption didn't make anything better, it just gave the person a free pass, in Ivy's eyes.

Eros nearly asked the girl what Dare had done to deserve a part in Michael's so-called punishment, but stopped himself from doing so. It likely had to do with his role as an accomplice or some other such nonsense, and the girl was getting worked up. He had no patience for belligerence, and so he gave her a bit of advice as he pushed to his feet. "Recall, dear lady, that there is no repent, when I remind you that, to all appearances, you murdered Alasdair Blackwood-Hardt. Give my regards to your sister." Eros aimed his wand carefully at the Somers girl. Then he cast a nonverbal stunning spell.

Ivy was just about to argue that that was different, she was completely justified in what she did, it was all in taking over for herself what the government refused to do! She hadn't done evil for the sake of evil, she had done it for the sake of good, to make things right and prove to people that they couldn't just go around and be like Michael and just repent and be good again! But everything went black before a single word could escape her lips.

Eros had hoped to scare the girl with the last comment he'd made, but she didn't appear to be intelligent enough to have made the connection. Either way, she was out, so he turned his attention to waking Dare. On closer inspection, the boy was in terrible condition. He disposed of the ropes with a quick diffindo before reviving him.
