Jumping the Fence

"We should go look around sometime," Jory said, thinking back on the glimpse he had had of Hogsmeade when he had met Layne coming off of the train. He had been to Diagon Alley a couple of times to get some school things, but he hadn't stayed for long, and most of his stuff had been ordered or gotten at MI. "We could make a day out of it, since classes haven't started yet."

Lyric blinked and looked up at Jory, somehow surprised at the suggestion. If he'd thought about it, he would have been sure that Jory would want to go after those guys, not spend more time with him. But he wasn't about to argue. He'd never really had anyone to talk to. "Yeah," he said, nodding. "I'd like that, I haven't looked around Hogsmeade yet."

"When do you want to go?" Jory asked, swinging his legs again beneath the branch. He would go now if Lyric said he wanted to. He wanted to be with Lyric as much as possible, but since they were going to be in the same dorm it would be that much easier. They could have so much fun. None of the arguments he had had with Layne about Lyric were in his mind, right now all he was thinking of when it came to that was that he was enjoying talking to Lyric like this.

"Whenever you want," Lyric said, looking down again. He didn't mind one way or another, and if Jory had a preference, he'd accept it. He didn't want to be pushy, and he felt bad for not wanting to meet those other guys when Jory was so excited.

Jory shrugged and nodded. He didn't know when he wanted to go, whenever would be fine with him. "Maybe we can go tomorrow or something," he offered, raising an eyebrow at Lyric. He loved the idea of going with Lyric to explore everything. "If that's okay with you, I mean...I don't really care when." He just wanted to go.

Lyric glanced up at Jory, nodding in return. "Yeah, tomorrow sounds good," he said. With that decided, he looked back down at Melody's case, then glanced around before pulling out his wand. Magic was never allowed outside classrooms, though everyone did it, so he wanted to be sure he wasn't caught. Accio case! he thought, summoning it up. "I'll see you around. Like, at dinner. And later." He felt like an idiot again, but he wasn't going to just walk away without even saying goodbye.

Jory almost said no! I don't want you to leave yet! but kept his lips shut. They were in the same house again, they would be fine. He looked down at the ground and nodded, "Yeah, I'll see you." He looked over at Lyric after a few moments, thinking back to his conversation with Layne and wondering if he wished something more had happened. After another couple of moments he sighed and turned to work his way down the tree, wincing slightly when he put weight on his feet after having them hang for so long. He reached up with one hand to play absently with the colored ring on the chain around his neck.
