This time it was a date, in the open it was a date, not just in Connor's mind. He could admit that he was nervous and that he might have dug out his nicer jeans and rooted around to find his best smelling, least holey, and most stainfree shirt. He couldn't quite believe this, this was already going so much better than whatever he had had with Holly had gone. This would be his fourth time being with Melody, and maybe he could even get another kiss out of it!

Melody walked along the street to Three Broomsticks with the unwelcomed feeling of butterflies in her stomach. She had no idea where these nerves were coming from, but she looked at it as a sign that today will be great. She had tied her hair up in a loose bun that had hair randomly hanging by her face and she wore jeans and a cute brown blouse. A very casual, yet cute look. As she rounded a corner she spotted Corner. Her glossed lips turned into a big smile and when she was close enough she said, "Hey Connor."

Connor couldn't help but grin at seeing Melody, just like he couldn't help his eyes immediately dropping to her shining lips. They hovered for a moment before he realized he should probably greet her. "Hey," he said, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck. "You look good." Good was an understatement, but he had practiced saying good instead of hot the night before to make sure he didn't make that mistake again.

"Thanks," Melody said with the smallest of blushes rising to her cheek. She looked at Connor, he looked great too. "You too," She heard herself say then casually diverting her eyes and realized that she hated these nerves. There was no reason to be nervous! In the past, she had remainded cool and posied, but now on their first official date she was nervous! Life was weird that way.

Connor felt heat spread up his neck at that and he stood there for a few seconds before he jerked out of it and realized he should invite her in. "So, you ready to go in?" he asked, then went for the door before Melody had a chance to answer to open it for her. He realized after that he probably could have handled that with a big more grace, but there was no taking it back now.

Melody smiled, looking back at Connor, "Sure." She walked inside then bit her lip in a smile. This place was perfect. Scanning the area she spotted a good table in a nook by a window and it was far from the restrooms. It seemed to match all the major requirements of a table so she looked back at Connon and nodded toward the table, "Want to sit over there?"

Connor glanced over and nodded, then gestured for her to lead the way. Wasn't he supposed to pull out her chair? It was so annoying trying to remember to do all of these things and not screw something up. Surely something was going to go wrong. He pulled out her chair, though he was completely clueless when he thought about pushing it back in, and fully intended to leave that potentially mortifying attempt to her.

Melody sat down in the nicely pulled out chair and scooted it in on her own. Was she supposed to thank him for the chair thing? Well, in the moments it took to think about it she flashed a thankful smile and the opportunity to thank him passed. Looking at the menu she scanned through the first few entres before saying, "So, what's new?" Small talk wasn't her best ability but it would get conversation flowing.

"Um," Connor stammered, then dropped his eyes. He had no idea what to say to that. "Nothing, really, just counting down the days before classes start and this place picks up, you know?" There, how was that? Hadn't he said the same thing last time? Oh he hoped the date picked up. "So what classes are you taking? OWLs this year," he said. There, that seemed like a good topic of conversation.

"Basically all the required stuff," Melody said shrugging. Tests weren't really her thing but she did well enough on them to pass with a decent grade, "Then muggle studies and probably arithmancy although those might change once term starts. I don't know though. How about you?" It'd be really great if they ended up taking a lot of the same things....hmm, or maybe not. She never had a boyfriend that went to the same school as her before so her mind processed the different options.

Connor nodded, "Yeah, I'm doing arithmancy. But I don't really want to take anything else." He took arithmancy because his father had been good with numbers, and now he was fairly good with them, as well. "I have no idea what I want to do after school." There wasn't anything that really interested him as a job.

Melody nodded, "Same here. I'd love to continue painting, but knowing my dad he'd be totally against it...well," She smiled softly,"He is anyway, but I don't care." He still hadn't bothered to reply to her owl on sending her paint back. Well, she heard of a new art shop, so she'd just buy some more paint there. "I'll probably end up doing something with finances." She made a face at that. How boring would that be?

"You should do what you want," Connor said. "I mean, if you want to do something, once you graduate you can do whatever you want to do." He shifted and glanced up as a homely looking witch came up to the table with a wand tucked behind her ear and a pad in her hands. She immediately turned her attention to Melody, much to Connor's relief, to ask what she wanted.

Melody was about to reply to Connor when the waitress asked for her order. "Oh," Melody said looking down at her menu. "Um, I'll have the sandwich," She said, pointing to the name on the menu out of habit. "Oh, and some water please." She smiled and folded up her menu, setting it down in front of her.

Connor gave his order next, a sandwich and a butterbeer, and when the woman walked away he focused on Melody again. "You know what I mean?" he asked, tilting his head. "I mean, there's no point doing something you don't want to do." For some reason he really didn't like the idea of Melody spending her life doing something she didn't like.
