Melody sat with a sketchbook in hand. She would have been painting, but her father had yet to send her paint to her and she didn't know where to buy some. So, sketching it was. Sitting in her paint-splatted jeans and a cut off t-shirt she eyed the freesias in the corner. The good thing about the Green House was that the wind from outside was kept out so she could let her long red hair down and not have to worry about it messing up her concentration. Drawing long lines and shapes, Melody carefully sculpted the strokes into short and detailed images. Looking up ever so often to get another glimpse of the objects she was drawing, she was completely immersed in her work.

Connor had put this off long enough but he didn't have much choice now, he had been getting ragged on by his mom to send him a certain flower and finally had permission to go get it. Of course...he certainly hadn't expected to see Melody, of all people, sitting there dressed in those jeans she had mentioned and a cut off shirt. His eyes widened and he stopped in his tracks. It felt like it had been forever since their trip to Diagon Alley.

Melody frowned and erased the shading she had tried to do. There was a reason she preferred painting to sketching, she was better at that. She bit her lip and looked at her page, trying to think of a better way to go about the shading. Bringing her pencil back to the paper she lightly scratched on the shades. Then, using her finger she smudged it just enough to not be messy but not look drawn on. Completely oblivious to the company in the room she looked back up at the flowers to check to make sure it looked alright. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a person standing and lost focus to turn to see who it was. At the mere glimpse of Connor she put her pencil down and smiled, "Hey!"

Connor notably relaxed when Melody spoke and he smiled. "Hey, how've you been?" he asked, reaching up to scratch at the back of his neck and hair. It had been far too long since he had seen her. His blood was already rushing through his veins and he could feel heat stretching up his neck. It was so good to see her again! He had forgotten how pretty she was.

"Pretty good. Haven't been doing much though. How about you?" It had been way too long since she had seen Connor. And, it was only now that she realized that she'd really missed talking to him. "How about you?" She closed her sketchbook knowing that the greenhouse would be here a while. There was plenty of time to finish the drawing, but not enough time to talk to her friend.

Conner felt incredibly awkward with the smile that was on his lips, but he couldn't make it go away, no matter how hard he tried. He dropped his hand from the back of his neck and took a few steps closer to Melody. "I've been okay, just...been hanging out, waiting for school to start back up officially." It seemed like everyone was doing a little bit of independent or summer study, but he just wanted the castle to come back to life.

"Yeah, me too I guess. There isn't that much to do. I haven't seen you around a lot though." I wish I had though, she mentally added. Then seeing the few steps toward her, Melody realized that there was plenty of room near her, "Do you want to sit down? There's room." She placed her sketchbook onto the ground near her feet and moved over a little bit more to make more room.

Connor nodded, probably a little too eagerly, and then sat by her. Was he sitting too close? Or maybe he was too far? He wasn't ready for this kind of nervousness! He finally settled and clasped his hands tightly in front of him. "So those are the pants you talked about that one time," he said. Did it sound as dorky as it felt to say it? He hoped not.

Melody looked down at her pants quickly to remind herself which pants she had put on. Then she smiled again, "Yeah these are them. You remembered correctly." Remembered correctly? Wow, that came out bad. She had a mental facepalm. Changing the subject she asked, "So, why are you in here today?" She was glad he had come in, she hoped that part was one of those unsaid understandings. She was tempted to add that as well, but worried that it would come out weird she ended up not.

Connor immediately decided that the truth definitely wouldn't be a good idea. My mommy asked for a flower just didn't seem like it would go over too well. "Um...just...uh, curious," he said, mentally kicking himself for not being able to lie better. He dropped his eyes to his hands. "This is like the only place I haven't been on the grounds."

"Well, I'm glad you came. It's been too long." She continued her smile and her eyes traveled to the hair covering his. She bit her lower lip as she had a sudden urge to reach out for it and move it so she could see his face more but fought it. Looking down at her sketchbook quickly she almost offered to show the picture she had been doing but seeing as how it wasn't done yet, she didn't say anything about it. "So," She said bringing her eyes back to him, "What do you think of here?"

"I...I like it," Connor answered, looking up at Melody. "It's nice. But...there's a certain person that's made it better," he said, finding her eyes for just a moment before his eyes darted away. That had been too much. He was sure that had been too much. Why had he said that? She hadn't done anything that said she was interested in him. Well...other than wanting to talk to him and going with him to Diagon Alley. Oh this was all too complicated! Where was Vance when he needed him?

Melody nodded, "I agree." It occured to her that since Diagon Alley she was liking him more and more. He was just so sweet and cute! She, too, looked away and as she did, her fingers found a lock of hair. Twirling it in her fingers she looked back at Connor. "I missed you..." she said quietly. The words had leaked out before she could stop them. True, at the time of Diagon Alley she was unsure of her feeling towards him, but now realized she did like him. More than a little.

At first, Connor wasn't sure that he had heard it right, but when he looked at her he had to believe it was true. "Me, too," he said softly, his voice no louder than hers. She had missed him! It was crazy, Melody had actually missed him! Before he could stop himself the words "You're really hot" slipped out of his lips. He looked up, horrified and wide-eyed behind his hair. "I mean...pretty..." he tried to save himself, but it felt like there was no taking it back. Girls didn't want to hear that they were hot, did they? No, didn't they want to hear beautiful or pretty? "I mean....." Oh he had messed up so bad...

Melody held back a chuckle. He was just so great. Grinning sweetly she said, "Thank you." Hot, pretty, it was all basically the same. "You too." Only after she said that did she realize that what she said could be taken as him being hot or pretty. Okay, so they had both accidently said the wrong thing. She blushed a little, just enough to being a small pink color to her cheeks.
