So, I've been avoiding him, trying to think it out. The second he left the club those flowers he got me were in the trash, I couldn't stand to look at them.
Dru sat out on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, leaning against a tree and writing in her journal. Every now and again she would look up, stare at the cold stone walls of the school, and drift off into space, not really thinking, for a few moments. There was a small, cool breeze blowing and Dru had her cloak on and pulled around her to keep it at bay. Her mind was on Chase, had been on Chase, and would remain on Chase until she saw him again and was finally able to stop thinking about their last encounter.
She sighed and chewed on the end of her quill, staring off into nothing in particular and thinking about that last encounter. The flowers, the way he had been dressed, the way he had looked when he told her. And then, his eyes, his hair, the way his hands felt on her. Her lips turned in a small smile and she huddled just a little bit farther down into her cloak.

Emilian grinned when he came out of the forest and saw Dru sitting against a tree. She looked lost in thought, a rather good thought if he read the smile on her face correctly, and it only took him half a second to make the decision to come up to her. He stopped near her, not bothering to be quiet, and looked over her shoulder. He was just close enough to make out a couple of lines of what appeared to be her diary and what he saw curved his lips. "So I take it he told you?"

Dru jumped slightly. Between her concentration and the wind she hadn't noticed anyone coming up behind her and, though she had only met him once, she recognized Emilian's voice almost instantly. She looked back over her shoulder, snapping her journal shut as she turned. "What business is it of yours?" She didn't like that he was behind her, but she wasn't about to jump up like a frightened first year. If he so much as looks at you, hex him in the balls and come get me. Chase's words floated in her mind, along with the intense look that had been in his eyes when he had told her that.

"I was just interested." From the lines he had caught on the page, Emilian could assume that they hadn't broken up, madness in his mind, and that only gave him fodder for more questions. "Why are you still with him? I mean, if I were with someone and that happened, I wouldn't give them a second glance." That was beside the fact he wouldn't be with someone in the first place.

Dru rolled her eyes, but it didn't hide the look on her face saying that she had wondered the same thing at least once. She looked away from him and shoved her book, quill, and ink into her bag and stood. "That is none of your business, and something you wouldn't understand even if I did explain it to you. Now, if you please..." She made to move away from him, slinging her back over her shoulder and, with the motion, checking that her wand was still where it was supposed to be.

Emilian took a few steps around in front of her, facing back towards the forest and the tree she had been leaning against. An amused expression covered his face. "Oh, but please, I'm willing to learn, explain to me. I would at the very least get my revenge on my significant other." His eyes darted to her lips and back to her eyes, an obvious clue as to what his idea was.

Revenge. Would that make her feel better? Could doing to Chase what he did to her erase the hurt that still caused her chest to tighten when she thought of it? No. Dru shook her head slightly and took a step back, not thinking about the tree a few steps behind her, only that the guy in front of her was uncomfortably close. "Oh, because that's so the way to keep a relationship going," she said as she tucked her arms in her cloak, blindly searching for the pocket that held her wand for a few moments before her fingers curled around the smooth wood.

"Now, now, no reason to get snippy," his eyes sunk to the motions underneath her cloak, "Or to draw a wand." Emilian's eyes flashed dangerously when he brought them back up to hers, though a pleasant smile stayed on his face. "You don't like the idea of getting back at him? Doesn't he deserve to feel what you must have felt?" He was working mostly on assumptions, but he could read her face well enough to be almost certain in those assumptions. Of course, those lines in her diary hadn't hurt.

Why had she avoided Chase? It would have been so much easier to ignore Emilian's words if she had been talking to Chase. Emilian's ideas wouldn't seem so plausible if she were more certain in their relationship. Her hand tightened on her wand. "You have some pretty screwed up logic." But was it? Really? Dru mentally slapped herself. How could she be thinking those things?

Emilian could see the indecision in Dru's eyes and fed on it. He took a small step forward, dropping his hands to his pockets, his one tucking his shirt behind his wand handle just to show that he could grab his just as easily as she could draw hers. "Do I? It's only what's coming to him, isn't it?" He stared into her eyes, head tilting slightly to the side.

The dark wood of Emilian's wand caught Dru's eyes for just a moment, just long enough for her to know that she needed to get away, quickly. She pulled her wand from the pocket and held it down to her side inside the cloak. "Do you think I'm going to 'get back at him' with you or something?" she asked, a sneer in her voice, "Because that's not happening." In her preoccupation with throwing her cloak off of her wand arm, she didn't notice the step he had taken towards her, but her wand was out and ready, with no cloth hindering it any more.

While Dru was fiddling with her wand, Emilian pulled his out of his waistband and pointed it towards her, "You really don't want to do this, do you?" Emilian wasn't much of a dueler, but she didn't give him the impression of being overly competent either. He hoped the intimidation would be enough to keep her from attacking. "And yes, I was kind of hoping you'd get back at him with me."

With the tip of his wand pointed towards her, Dru's heartbeat sped up. "Maybe I do." She shot the first spell that came to her mind, a stunner, at him and prayed that it hit. She wanted to get away, if he was unconscious she'd be able to, and even if he was able to block it then there was still the chance that she'd have enough time to leave.

Emilian took a quick step to the side and it was his saving grace. Narrowing his eyes, he shot a disarming spell at her. He would have been fine had she not attacked him, but having a spell sent towards him made him angry. "Nice try."

Dru gasped as her wand flew from her hand and landed a few yards away from them in the grass. She tried to back away but hit the tree. "Ha ha, you've had your laugh, happy?" she said in a feigned strong voice. If she didn't know what he was capable of she would have been perfectly ok, but as it was every self defense she had ever been taught had left her mind, replaced with images of what he just might try.
